What a great customer experience you found us!
1 - The personalized engraving (This watch can have a significant "mark" for some specific event in our lives).
2 - The fact that you can literally choose a second strap (as opposed to "forcing" an additional one you may not really like)
3 - Engaging with a great cause - that Turtle version looks fantastic! ... and it's also for a good cause
and, finally, 4 - They are graciously providing your viewers with a 15% discount on an already nicely priced watch.
Truly appreciate your insight with this watch company and thanks for sharing!
I really like the look of both watches, particularly the bracelet on the automatic and the dial on the quartz. However, I wouldn’t buy either for one reason alone, and that is because of how weak the lume is on both watches. I wear my watches 24 hours a day and rely on the lume to see the time through the night, and because of that, both the watches would be useless to me.
Good review. Interesting that it seems the quartz version is actually better than the automatic. Usually it's kind of the other way around. Definitely some refinements could be had on both.
Two really smart looking watches and I really like the dials on both…crisp and uncluttered. Really love the blue one though - the texture on that dial is awesome. I would have considered that one to add to my collection but it looks like the selling price you gave is only valid for just over another day…..Mothers Day sale ends in xx hours….and I’m not rushing into a purchase. With your discount on top, it was tempting. Like their business model though with all the positives you mention, and there’s certainly not many out there that would ask for your wrist size on purchase 👏🏻
Great review.
That automatic watch looks quite nice....has a Blancpain feel to it. I'll bet an Artem strap would look fantastic on it.
Shame they used the 8215, or they used the 821A that has hacking for a couple of dollars more. I like the blue one but think it looks better on the blue strap. Still nice watches and price isn’t that bad but you can get a nice Seiko for that price 👍
Value is very much relative and I have to say, this company seemingly offers incredible quality, customer service experience, and a bit of inspired originality for a fair price. Thanks for sharing these with us.
I was very excited to see you had a chance to review a few offerings from this brand, especially two watches I have previously considered.
The About Vintage 1844 chronograph was the birthday gift that reignited my interest in watches. Very similar to what you noted in your review, there is much to enjoy in the watches they offer, but one is still left looking for a little bit more. And so I did. And so my deep dive into the hobby began!
Thanks for sharing Michael
You got my attention with the word Vintage and as the video went on I really think it's a missed opportunity with the mounting negatives There are too many other options in that space I would rather add to my collection but as always another fantastic quality review my friend Thanks 👍
Great review Peter, nice to see watches which i would probably never see otherwise, both of these are really nice , i could be tempted by the quartz especially with the discount . Im saving for a le forban vintage diver at the moment very similar in design to these watches, cheers .
I think they look quite nice though not blown away with the name on it ABOUT VINTAGE. I like the chronographs on their site. The black dial with the thin hands, looks classy.
I agree, I think About Vintage is posiibly one of the worst watch names out there. I couldn't wear a watch with that branding.
@@uhmerrykan The chronos don’t have it.
@@aussie8114 good to know. But when people ask what brand it is, you still have to say 'about vintage' 😀
@@uhmerrykan That wouldn’t bother me. I’m old enough to have learned not to care very much about what others think. I just would not like looking at ABOUT VINTAGE on the dial. I’ve been wearing my beautiful RLG Odyssey a lot and only one person has asked what it is, and he would not have known the difference between an Omega and a Casio. About Vintage chrono has Skov Andersen printed on it, so if needed just tell them it’s a Skov Andersen exclusive design 😂 I like the chrono but I suspect it’s domed crystal is a reflection issue, the dome gives it a nice look but got to deal with the reflection.
@@aussie8114 I respect your opinion, but I personally think the chrono looks hideous. To each their own:)
amazing review. saw an about vintage watch in a store and immidatly thought ``oh no, another valuchi´´ so thank you for a real review of theese products.
I've put the green dial turtle in my cart a couple of times but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm glad to see your review on them. I think I will keep it on my shortlist and give them a try myself
I strongly prefer the quartz at Sea Turtle out of these two watches. Its proportions are more pleasing to my eye than the auto's are. This kind of quartz movement makes so much sense, I wonder why you don't see way more watches powered by these 4 ticks per second movements. Certainly I rate it higher than the very basic non-hacking Miyota movement.
I agree Alex, if someone isn't paying close attention, they could be mistake that quartz sweep for an automatic
Great review Pete, thank you for sharing. Overall I think both pieces have many positives, and I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of the negatives. I actually prefer the quartz version, I think it is more versatile, and would make a great every day watch. With your discount both represent great value for money however, just a matter of choice.
Thank you again Peter and have a wonderful Sunday 👍
I wish those bezels were slightly tighter.
That endlink fitment is tremendous but alas, just not in love with the design. Value wise is fine.
Love the dial on the quartz
After seeing your video I bought a 1926 steel / black and I am very happy with my purchase. The lug-to-lug could be 2mm less for my wrist, but everything else is great. I love the way the sapphire distorts the view on the dial when seen at an angle and the dial itself has a beautiful black / licorice sheen with just a tiny bit, tasteful sunburst effect. Thanks for reviewing the watches, I never heard about the brand before.
Great honest review....!
I really like the quartz. Not sure the price is right given the lume and bezel but it rally looks nice.
Too many negatives for me on the automatic... 100m wr and a miyota 82xx movement, for $500?? Wild man
I'd get the quartz VH31 movement over the auto any day! Overall though, scandinavian (fashion-and-not) design, not bad, just bit boring, as many from there. Must be the light.... 😋
Cheers Peter, be well mate.
Agreed. I think it's a shame so few brands use the VH31. It's readily available and quite reliable, not to mention cheaply replaceable.
The design and elements are very appealing. But what the hell, 8215 no hacking, at this price ? That really is laughing at people's face. That's completely prohibitive.
Like the design, promising initial effort from a relatively ew company. Too many negatives for me, however.
Great review as always, Pete
been eyeing this brand but i haven't pulled the trigger.
"peterkotsa code isn't valid in the items in your cart". since all items are on sale maybe all codes are invalid.
Liw calibers low lume low everything for a price not low low no thank s...nice review like always peter
Cheers Jose, thanks for watching
Very handsome dials
Also, just thought I’d mention it Peter, the discount code doesn’t appear to apply to the current discounted prices.
I wasn't made aware of that, so sorry too hear thats the case
Thank you for informing me
Just got an email back from About Vintage, they informed me that they fixed the discount code issue
cheers
@@PeterKotsa wow thank you Peter! I really appreciate you going out of your way for your viewers.
Wonderful videography on your reviews. Would love to hear about your process and kit. Thank you for the attention to detail you invest in this work.
Thanks for the praise Bob.
Ive been a professional photographer for around 30 years and have used every kit out there.
These days I shoot mainly Sony A7 series cameras as they have exceptional dynamic range and noise control
Cheers
@@PeterKotsa Your experience in lighting, exposure, composition, editing, sequence, pace -- it shows. Thank you again.

FYI Peter the discount code failed to work for me.. Price remains as listed in your video?
Hi John, several viewers have mentioned the same thing, I have contacted About Vintage and waiting for a response from them.

Discount code does not work =(
8215? for $500 seriously ?
Mmm this look like an attempt to jump on the vintage bandwagon to me. The designs don't quite work for me & why have they called one the 1926 automatic when the first dive watches were introduced in the early 1950s!! It kind of tells you they don't know their watch history!
My guess is the 1926 reference nods to the first waterproof case. I agree, still a stretch, but it seems the naming conventions tie elements of each watch to events in horological history, not the whole watch itself to the origin of any one watch type.
@@michaelniemer4449 Good point, I think 1926 was the year the first automatic watch came out actually, I should have thought of that lol!
I've tried the discount code but it doesn´t work :(

No matter how they want to spin it, hiding behind the "vintage" badge to cut corners (bad lume, mediocre bezels and low-tier mechanical movement for +500-600USD), won't help this brand.
People who doesn't know anything about mechanical watches might fall for this company's smart marketing gimmicks but we won't...
It's a mediocre watch sold in a nice box at a high price. Save your money and go for a Seiko 5 or a microbrand who gives more value for your money.
WHAT A BEAUTY!
Skov Andersen
40mm with a sandwich dial; where's the vintage in that?
Japanese movement….
Sorry but this is beyond lame. It says 'About Vintage' on the dial? Lol. Something that is vintage inspired is fine but geeze how much more on the nose could this be? It might as well say 'This is a fake vintage watch' on the dial. Super hard pass.
