- On Thursday, May 9, 2024, a new Coastal Care+ task force launched a cleanup operation at Venice Beach, targeting homeless encampments on Ocean Front Walk and Speedway Avenue. The multi-agency team, which includes the LAPD, Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Clean Harbors Environmental Inc., Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), and Councilwoman Traci Parks' Homelessness and Housing Coordinator, worked together to restore cleanliness to the beach area.
The LAPD ensured the cleanup proceeded smoothly and safely, while team members, donned in protective gear, sorted and disposed of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Public Works and Clean Harbors aided in the efficient differentiation and disposal of waste materials.
LAHSA contributed a compassionate touch to the operation, providing food, water, and hygiene kits to those affected. This new initiative demonstrates the city's continuing commitment to managing homelessness while improving public health and safety.
At the press conference held a couple of days ago, Councilwoman Traci Parks highlighted the significance of the Coastal Care+ program, stressing its role in preventing hazardous waste from contaminating storm drains and sensitive coastal areas. The team, currently operating twice weekly, plans to scale up to five days per week, targeting health and safety hazards from homeless encampments. Parks also introduced measures for restroom ambassadors and beautification services, ensuring restroom safety and accessibility.
The initiative will also fund mental health beds and treatment programs, working in coordination with the Bureau of Sanitation, Department of Recreation and Parks, and nonprofits like LAHSA and St. Joseph Center. This collaborative effort, backed by a budget of $848,011, spans from Marina del Rey to Pacific Palisades, enhancing the city's resources to address persistent challenges.
Parks's leadership underscores the importance of collaboration, seeking to bring together agencies and organizations for a holistic approach to pollution and homelessness. The comprehensive initiative aims to establish a cleaner, healthier coastal environment, ultimately benefiting residents and visitors alike.

The homeless industrial complex is alive and well.
Do you see all those fancy official titles you have private companies involved with tax dollars and they’re all making good money and they’re just simply sweeping trash underneath the rug clean harbors Inc. they make money by homeless people so why would they put themselves out of business quite the oxymoron
It's wild that the building at the end of the video is a senior's home. Imagine trying to live out your golden years with that chaos all around.
Yikes again and again never ends
It never ends because all they are doing is paying people to get a fancy paycheck so they can have the media act as if these people actually accomplish something every single one of those persons makes a big fat paycheck and every day we have more homeless people here regardless of how fat their check is
WHY DOES THAT BIG LA
SANITATION TRUCK HAVE THOSE LONG SPIKED LUGNUT COVERS ON THE FRONT WHEELS ,WHY❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yeah, all these new "programs" seem to provide enough money to keep the bureaucrats and contractors secure in their homes, but not any of the homeless.
Most larger cities do have housing, wait list, to get on and rehab services, the real problem because these places have rules, and street people will not cooperate with this..
They don’t want to go where they cannot get high. The truth is the truth.
@@deb6828 Or they are too mentally ill to make the right decision. And because of civil rights cases, government can't force them to.
Thank you they have lots of groups lobbying all day long for these multi million dollar contracts then becomes a wine and dine at the contract give her if you know what I mean
@@user-lp1jw9bo5y I worked for a few decades in state politics. I had tons of lobbyist dinners. I get you.
Seems to be more and more homeless ppl every week.
Because we have 300,000 people coming across that border not including the natural birth we have on this country on a daily basis until we close that border they will keep paying these people to do nothing but act as if they are helping
@@user-lp1jw9bo5y exactly
Nice to see Traci Parks eagerness to pitch in, and throw away someone's bedding, probably the only thing that person owns
which one is she
If there was no news crew she would not be out there if there was no one taking any pictures she would not be there,, this is a publicity stunt and a promo opportunity for her, ,
It was so important to them, that they kept it in some alley, on property they don't own, right next to trash and piss, right..
The overblown response, on the taxpayers' dime of course, when it takes all that time and manpower to trash a single sleeping bag, that was what stuck out to me, but I digress..
The homeless are just spend-thrift junkies, really. They don't want to spend any money on anything but drugs.. Then they become everyone else's burden in the cities that cater to them, all so they can be treated with undue dignity by political hacks for "social credits", nobody really cares for the junkies but Catholic charities and couple other groups..
How would it be possible to claim any property from the city when it has been compacted into a garbage truck?
What they do is the same when they impound your car even though they will sell it at public actually will still tell you you owe them for the time that it was in storage prior to the selling,,,They will come back to these homeless people and tell them you have incrued storage fees for your property and here’s the bill
$781k to move 2 homeless so far..
You’ve hit the nail on the head they could take 50,000 of that and provide a hotel for one month for each of these people with food and board,,,
@@user-lp1jw9bo5y But then they would be held liable when someone gets raped, OD's, or murdered.. They know who they are really dealing with behind the facade, degenerate, conniving junkies..
@@user-lp1jw9bo5y that's a good point, but the problem with that is with out proper 24/hr support systems the addict's would trash the rooms and get kicked out into the street again....
The city spends thousands of dollars every single time they do this indefinitely forever when they could just spend thousands of dollars one time building a shelter.
Or they could have migraines or the guy that’s down in front of Home Depot do it for 1/3 of the price if not cheaper
There are shelters, but they don't get used because you can't use drugs in them.. If the city builds a shelter and allows people to use there, it will get out of hand quick, and everyone who deals with these homeless know that. Someone will die, and then the city will be liable.. They don't take care of themselves because they are addicts, they won't take care of a shelter they can use at.. You don't know any junkies?
I think the real objective is to keep moving the homeless away from the beach, tourist areas, and the nice neighborhoods by making them move daily. Eventually, they will end up downtown because I don't think they bother them there.
The bums rush!. or, the big boot eviction service!
The "real objective" is to keep government and private homeless agencies fully paid so they can be seen to "do something" about a problem that has no real solution.
@Alboalt Agree, if they actually fix the problem, a lot of well-paid jobs would be gone. But they do need to, at the very least, try to get tourism back. Tourists spend money, and empty storefronts don't generate tax dollars. They just relocate the homeless problem.
Do you work for Tracy’s office because that sounds like insider information
@@user-lp1jw9bo5y No, I don't even live in California anymore.
Champion!
Put the hour
'Coastal Care+'. Is that just a new name for the same clean up crew? 😂 'Let's rename it so people think we're actually doing something and our funding is justified'. The LAHSA lady, sorry, 'Homelessness and Housing Coordinator' picked up some trash and pulled some blankets down the street. I think that's the most I've seen any from that group do in the year I've been watching.
No truer words have been spoken!
Yes I know next month it will be coastal care authority,,(CCA). Lots of official sounding titles that sound good but in actuality we just saw what they do for nothing
Yes, same system, same methods, same people, just a new name to justify money spent to the tax payers of LA.
Like putting lipstick on a Pig...
Why don't they build them a group home with built-in jobs, then force them off the boardwalk and Beach
Daisy can still feed them daily
That sounds like a logical idea, but unfortunately the elected officials don't seem to think that's a necessary answer.
But heck they're the expert /s
Because the city would be held liable for people dying in their shelter at that point.. The city also does not want to admit they are like 98% junkies, which would come to light when stipulating that they stay sober/ don't carry drugs after someone OD's in there, and then having the thing go unused because of it.
Good video, all people look very relaxed
It's called being stoned.
it will be very interesting to see the many more millions of homeless people drifting into california over the next couple of decades, an unsolveable problem that will only get worse
This guy stole the basket. Arrest him!
'Currently operating twice weekly, plans to scale up to five days per week' F A N T A S T I C ! Thank you Traci Park!
The primary condition is addiction , homeless is a result . Good luck treating addiction especially when you call it homeless ignoring the true problem
June gloom comes early
Same ole song and dance clean it up for the weekend tourists ….. Good lord California deserves better
Oooh look a parade
They want more tourist$ to come back & spend money 💵 dolla dolla billz yo! 😅
