    Oh that New Yorker cover took me by surprise and hit me in the feels! I also perceived it as purple tears and felt that the way the drops were elongated, and facing directly downwards (compared for example with diagonal, which wouldn't have the same impact) really conveyed the sadness. But it hit me before I got chance to think about that, what a powerful image! I hadn't seen it before, I might see if I can find a copy somewhere!
    I'm enjoying and learning so much from your videos, thank you 💜

    "Universe of Shapes" in Sarah Sze's work is the right descriptor for it. Each one looks like a journey into Space.

    Wow, those pieces by Malika Favre are really messing with my head. My brain really wants to believe it can see an outline in the places where parts of the figure are the same color as the background. Wild how they can achieve that with such simple shapes and so few colors!

    Inside Out's character design is really echoing the psychological dimensions of Shape. I've seen in my own research authors attempt to describe such factors is choosing shapes in design.

    I would highlight the element of movement and rhythm ( and it can be experienced in most elements texture, form, color, Line, space, and maybe not so easy through shape and value ? )

      I have seen movement and Rhythm pop up under the principles of design. Which seem to be a sort of expanded adjunct to the Elements of Art.

    There are a lot of flat wavy and circular shapes currently used in corporate illustration perhaps because we are living in trying times.

    Would 'process' and 'medium' be considered elements of art?

    • @artprof
      @artprof  Před 3 lety +1

      I don't think so, I think that's are more part of the process as opposed to the visual elements. That's my opinion though! -Prof Lieu

    • @artprof
      @artprof  Před 3 lety +1

      I think elements of art are more focused on aspects of the piece itself-- like color, texture, shape, etc. Process and medium might not be considered "elements", but they are definitely important! - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff

    Zaha Hadid's Galaxy Soho is just stunning. A world within a world, with its own gravity. Yet where she departs away from the curves as in the Transport Museum it's disconcerting. Are we manipulated by the choice of Shape in architecture? I know the interiors of McDonald's restaurants are designed to discourage the desire to stay too long. Eat and get out.

    • @artprof
      @artprof  Před 3 lety

      Oh, that's a great question! I'm sure architects keep shape in mind when they're designing, especially if the building is supposed to convey a certain mood. Thank you so much for watching :) - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
