@jrj2689 exactly, as a matter of fact, she's using scales which are very simmilar to saxophone scales and walkthroughs, you can get a lot of technical skill in singing by listening saxophone and trying to imitate what you hear ;)
Any saxaphonist out there that can tell me what scale Kim Burrell sings in. I know it's some sort of minor scale but uncertain which one. I highly doubt it is Aeolian, please do tell which one of the others it is like Lydian or Mixolydian etc. Thanks

She mostly uses Pentatonic, but her application and variations!
