An electron moves through a uniform magnetic field

    so can you explain to me the concept of a uniform magnetic field? I seem to remember that the force of magnetism falls off at distance squared. This means that given any magnetic source the electrons movement within the field is either getting closer or farther from the source. The only way it could be uniform is if the electron is moving in an orbit. In which case the math might be interesting and fun, but is it pointless as this electron can do no work.
