There's gotta be a team of artists at Konami that bless this channel for existing. The continuities and details in the cards are so much more elaborate than my teenage mind gave them credit for.
Dawg, what? there's tens of thousands of cards. Oblivious or not, you really thought they just imagined every single one of them out of thin air with nothing behind the ideas? Not to mention they originated in Japan which is one of the most lore rich countries on the planet. I don't understand how anyone could look at that many card arts, especially ones with dragons or samurai's or mythical beings and not think they probably have some kind of backstory to them - even if you don't know what it was. This comments logic is basically saying that you'd have no idea video game lore existed either. Like all the games you played just popped out of thin air. lolwat
@@redeyeskuriboh2839 Well, yes. Early yugioh cards were just random concepts, fantasy tropes and cool ideas mixed without any lore behind them. Black magician is not using black magic because of some story, its because takahashi thought "damn a black magic using wizard sounds DOPE".
@@ich3730 Most likely incorrect. These originated in JP and later translated to NA. Most of the English names don't actually accurately reflect what the card was originally called and are usually just the closest rough translation. I'd wager a good 90% of the cards in their original form are largely designed from folklores, legends and tales from that area. Only once they get translated and sometimes artwork changed to better suit our region does it come out looking like someone just sat around making it up.
We all know what pot of greed does... "activate this card by placing it in an unused spell/trap zone on your side of the field from your hand. After this card resolves use your right hand (left if you are left-handed) to pick up 1 card from the top of your deck and add it to your left hand (right if you are left-handed) after that immediately repeat the last action again in order to add another card from the top of your deck to your hand. After the resolution, send this card from its respective spell/trap zone to the top of the graveyard face-up"
If I could change one thing about the layout of modern Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, I would move the "1st Edition" lettering back to its original position and introduce the name of the card artist in the place where it sits now, similar to Magic The Gathering. Would be interesting to see which artist drew what.
The LORE VIDEOS are what i (and im sure most) love the most. Your digging for details and and the story telling is incredible talent. Please do more of these
It saddens me that the YuGiOh anime isn't the universe that seems to exist in the card artwork. Like, an episode on just this would be fantastic and probably full of comedy. Ill even take a video game that is based on the actual stories contained in the cards. It baffles me.
Amazing story! No doubt alot of work in this video! But this is the content that made u to the best yugioh/duellinks creator (by far!) I started following you for duellinks content, but fell in love with the lore vids!
