The Beauty of Palina
The Palina Greenbelt Ecotour takes visitors out into the riverine to see the reclamation of the Palina River, which had silted up due to an abundance of fish cages in the region. This endeavor is being spearheaded by fishermen who have given up their fish cages and livelihoods to rescue the river. They are now our barge tour guides, telling us about river restoration and the numerous mangroves planted to avoid floods and safeguard fish, birds, and plant life.
The Palina Greenbelt protects a wide range of coastal ecosystems for long-term aquaculture and fisheries. It is a tourism attraction that generates revenue for local communities via a partnership between the government and the government-private sector.
