Hi Alon, I love your reviews! other reviews I watched before were boring and confusing, I'm glad that your review is simple and fun.
Just bought my, can't wait!!
I have just ordered mine, I am not a graphic artist and have never used one before but can't wait for it to arrive.
Congrats! once you'll get the hang of it...
get ready for so much addictive creativity time! (there is no way back) Enjoy! :)
@@AlonDan Thank you Alon, I appreciate your review
Good review :)
Thanks I'm glad it helps 😊
Hi thank you for your review....!
You're welcome :)
I want it. And saving money😁😁
Interesting drawing display. Thanks for making this very helpful review. At the sketch line test with the wide soft brush at 8:00 there is obviously some lag noticeable. What is your opinion regarding lag issues with this tablet? Also compared to the Artist 22E you have and work with? Asside the different screen sizes which one of these two do you prefer? By the way I think your idea about the coloured buttons is genius!
Hi There, I'm glad that the review helped you! :)
Let me try to answer your questions:
-
What you see on 8:00 is NOT an example of fast brush, it is a use of a "smooth brush" feature in Krita (I don't remember how how it's called) basically it's a "lazy brush" preset that is controllable on the settings of the brush, it's registering the pixels a few ms back in time, so you can draw slower and be more accurate.
What I show there is the 60 degrees tilt feature and it's nice when you do it slower and fast and it's not flipping or getting out of control, it's very accurate.
-
I believe that I mentioned on the video that every software use it's own brush-engine which may react different, so you may run into better or less better in different cases, but do not confuse with "lazy-brush modes" or what I explained above which is a nice setup for people who wants to draw something slower and accurate, no, it's not cheating it's a helpful tool for different parts on your creation, for example: if you want to draw a perfect circle, or close a shape this will help you to get MUCH more accurate.
-
The RPS in the 24 Pro (delay / lag) is not noticeable for me, it's almost real-time. I didn't feel much difference between the 22E to the 24Pro on this area and I'm VERY
happy with it.
This is why I always test the mouse-sign instead of a specific-brush engine on the screen so you can see the ratio of the mouse-sign to the pen movement without specific brush-engine but pure OS.
To your question what I prefer:
I prefer the 24 PRO, it have a better sharper resolution of 2K compare to 1080p, more buttons (I personal use them all the time to any software and shortcuts on my desktop in general, for example every button can launch a software) no-battery pen, and so many other features I mentioned on the video.
There is no secret, currently the Artist 24 Pro is my favorite XP-Pen model and I highly recommend it for anyone who's looking for a professional wacom-alternative especially if you can't afford a Wacom-Cintiq model.
I hope this helps :)
@@AlonDan Thank you for your extensive and clear reply. I am seriously considering the 24 Pro. I notice the Cintiq Pro camp looks down on it and from their perspective that is understandeable. As it seems that the XP-Pen Pro is becoming tough competition for them and still on a very friendly price level. Of course the Cintiq Pro 24 is still up there. Along with the price tag though. However the XP=Pen 24 Pro already beats the new Cintiq 22 on different levels. And just remember, the Cintiq 27HD of a few years back had the same 2K specs and was Wacom's top of the line back then.
Still watching your old channel's videos on opentoonz tutorials.
Waiting for Stock to be available here in India.. To be used for animation mainly. I think I've watched all the Xp-pen Artist 24 and Huion Kamvas Pro 24 Videos ... hahaha.. Great Video.. Imformative,
I'm glad my review helps, it is GREAT for animation for sure but also for so many other tasks as well.
Hey , i am too from India planning to buy it
First time, I am watching your video and I love it!!! Thank you so much!!
I am a professional dress pattern maker and work lot with illustrator ( work with measurements). Is this is suitable for that? What’s the software you were using at the end of this video ( the drawing you did).
Appreciate your reply. Thanks!!🙏
Glad to hear that it helps :)
Basically anything you can do with a mouse, you can do more accurate with this device and the Pen also you have pressure sensitivity which mouse don't have. so it is a serious upgrade if you're illustrating a lot.
I'm using animation software most of the time but not only, so far this device didn't disappoint me in many variation of creative softwares that's why I highly recommend it not just for animation.
@@AlonDan thank you so much for taking time to reply!!🙏
hello! Does the computer compatability to software affect the flow on the display tablet?? I have a wacom intous pro and it lags a lot when I use it with my computer
The best way is to check your intuos on a different PC, if it still react weird, it could be broken or something.
if it's working nice on another computer, your PC is probably too old, have viruses and junk just or can't handle graphics very well because it's old.
-
From my experience The Artist 24 Pro, or any other model I worked with including my Wacom Cintiq works fine on most decent computers from the last 7+ years back but if your computer is very old and have no decent built-in graphic card or actual graphics card you may consider to buy a better PC first... because with a nice working PC you shouldn't have any issue with the Artist 24 Pro.
I hope it helps, good luck!
Pl. Sir can you tell me something about your laptop. How is he important, do i need "beast" or middle range price can do the job.
You can check the Laptop I used for this review and for the creation of my cartoons here: www.amazon.com/shop/alondan
It's not a beast, if you can run Krita, Photoshop or other graphics software on your PC (laptop or desktop) it should work perfect!
Hey. I am planning on buying the Artist 24Pro. I wanted to know if the tablet can also charge an M1 Macbook air while connected it it via Type C cable. As the Tablet is already drawing power from the wall.
Hi There, good choice! the 24" is amazing, and it's currently my favorite XP-Pen Model :)
I'm not using Mac so I don't know much about it.
What I do know is that I use the 2 USB-Hubs to charge almost anything I have around me at the session, also I use it for my Wireless devices (Mouse & Keyboard).
It's an ordinary USB power, not for data transfer, and it's nothing to do with USB Type-C which is the connection of the graphic tablet itself to the PC just like I show in the video.
Hello! i notice that your driver's "current pen pressure" gauge is working? when mine is not even responsive but i have the pen pressure.
Hi there,
Such thing never happened to me before on any of their models. you should ask XP-Pen support.
Can you use the wheel to flip/scroll your frames?
Yes, that's actually my favorite use for the left wheel.
Basically, if it's a hotkey in your software, you can use it with ANY of the express keys, that's why I like it so much.
I hope it helps :)
Would like to rewatch your 15.6 pro review as I travel a lot. But the review is missing?
Hi There!

I hope it will help you, good luck :)
Perfect! Thanks, Alon.
Hi
Who is better photoshop or medibang paint pro on mac os for comic drawing ??
To be honest, I don't use any of these software and I don't use Mac for animation.
The software I'm using is the one we're currently developing: "AnimatorME" - AnimatorME.com
Great review...color keys...great idea, it's a no-brainer...You should work for their design team...
Thank you for your kind words, I'm glad it's helpful.
As an animator I would totally design a MONSTER tablet that may scare every other brand out there 😎
Hey alon, if you have a laptop or pc that only has 1080p resolution does it affect the drawing tablet? Can it go to 2k or does it stay at 1080p because of that?
It won't look as sharp as 2K but it will work on 1080p.
I recommend to use it on a computer that does support 2K (or more) to enjoy it's full quality.
Most Nvidia GTX / RTX series supports 4K from the last 7 years, I'm not sure about AMD graphics cards since I don't use them.
The good thing is that you can use it even on 1080p (not as sharp of course) but since it's a stand-alone screen display you can always connect it to your future computer once you'll upgrade your graphics card.
I hope this helps a bit :)
@@AlonDan so if I have a laptop that has a screen resolution of 1080p does that mean even if I have a gpu let's say the gtx 1660 ti that supports 4k resolution it still won't be at its full potential because the laptop itself has only a screen resolution of 1080p?
@@tggorudon2551 it'll go up to its native res of 1440p, ur 1080p laptop screen won't affect it unless you mirror the screen on it
@@Destroy3030 oh alrighty gotcha thanks alot
I got the Artist 12 Pro, I don't have a regular workspace, and I draw small anyway (I know, bad for my wrist), so the smaller size a boon rather than a problem. I saved up for a display tablet for literally a decade and $300 was the best I could do. Hey, I have three kids, money is hard to come by.
If you think this is high priced go purchase a WACOM! a much higher price and does almost the same. After you'll check out any of the wacom models with similar specs you'll notice how xppen are making more sense compare to the price. it took me about 2 years to save the money and in few months I'll finally order this model thanks to Alon's advice I almost made a mistake and got the 15.6pro.
@@lucawong265 Oh I know! My first (blind) graphics tablet was a Wacom graphire3 back in '99. They hadn't even invented cintiques yet, I've always had my eye on them and they've *never* been affordable.
Salut sur quelle site dessine tu
I saw beeewws and I clicked LOL sorry I simple hahahahaha. nice review man ... I'm the way to the shop to pick up 2 of these!
oh my!! 😅
Great review Alon! I'm saving the money to get this model.
Can you pls share amazon coupon code?
Amazon links are now on the description, Enjoy!
@@AlonDan Thx Alon!!!!!
I love these videos and have watch each one at least 3 times also I was wondering whats a good animation app thats free
Thank you so much, I'm glad it's fun and helpful!
Unfortunately, I can't recommend a "good" animation software for free because every free / open-source have their own issues which I personally can't work with, at least not for official client projects: stability, crashes, bugs, and so many issues I can't stand.
Maybe I'll make a dedicated video about animation software. I can't say when since I'm very busy, but... you're more than welcome to subscribe and stay tuned.
In the meanwhile, you can try these:
- Open Toonz
- Blender
- Krita
@@AlonDan I've already subscribed and use krita and have tried blender but ill try open toonz
Who is she? Daughter of Zabuza 😅.
