- Transformers introduced Metroplex in Transformers the Movie, but we didn’t get to see his robot form until the last episode of Five Faces of Darkness, which kicked off season 3. While the 1986 version will always be a classic, the 2013 Generations version finally gave him the stature he deserved. Captain Kyle has been pining for this toy for a while and in this video, he finally reviews it and throws in some bonus bots.
Metroplex is the Autobot City and fights the Decepticon City Trypticon regularly. While the 10-inch tall 1986 version of this toy was cool, a 24-inch Titan is much more appropriate for this bot. Released in 2013 at San Diego Comic-Con with some extra accessories, it was also available as a general release that same year. Now it is one of the most coveted Transformers and Captain Kyle finally got it, albeit incomplete. While he is missing Scamper, Captain Kyle brings in Sixgun and Slammer to keep the big guy company. He goes through this toy to see if you might want him for your collection.

That was very cool, thank you for showing your Metroplex. I too always wanted to get him, but he was just out of price range at the time. It was nice to see him transform too. I think you got a good deal like you said the missile you’d probably lose the other two pieces might be nice if you’re able to find, especially scamper. However, he does look like he’s in real good shape. 😃👍

That's awesome! I am genuinely thrilled that you were able to get a Titan class Metroplex, even if it's not 100% complete. I got lucky and was able to get mine a few years ago through a friend of mine who had ended up with 2 and only wanted one. I missed out on a few of the upgrades that I wanted for him at that time, but it is what it is and I was able to get other upgrades that came along a bit later, so he's still a bit better than plain stock version Metroplex, not that a plain version is bad by any means... I do enjoy upgrading certain figures and characters though, as that's part of my enjoyment process. For me, Metroplex is one of those figures because Hasbro screwed us on the dual rifles... Thankfully, we got a nice version of Sixgun and Slammer in more recent lines, which helped fill out the character/figure... although I had already done custom versions of my own, prior to those new figures.
One of the things I chose to do with my Metroplex, was to paint the lower torso black and do a little detailing with pen and Toyhax decals... I also spray painted the upper thighs/hips chrome silver and applied the chrome decals over the paint for a better look and more coverage, instead. Thankfully, the Toyhax decals were included with mine because my friend had ended up with a double set, which was a nice bonus... I know you don't necessarily care much about Toyhaxing your figures, so that may not be something you'd be interested in doing with yours, but it's a very good set and definitely will make your Metroplex pop...
Anyway, aside from those items and possibly a few little things that I may be forgetting about right now, I also picked up an upgrade kit for Metroplex (and also for my Fortress Maximus), that gives him ankle articulation for better posing, and a couple of other things, like maybe better hip ratchets? I don't recall at the moment what all was in the set, but I'm thinking it was a DNA upgrade kit 🤔? A good upgrade to get, if you can find one at a good price somewhere still...
There's a hand upgrade kit, I believe, but I don't recall if I could get it or if I missed out on that one... 🤔
There's a knee joint replacement piece that MegaMoonMan on TFW2005(?), which I believe might be available for 3D printing on Thingaverse or something like that, which will allow your Metroplex to finally be able to transform into his more G1 city configuration instead of the boring @$$ 'V' configuration we're stuck with. I still need to get this for his knees, myself...
Now, the other upgrade that I absolutely HAD to have for my Metroplex, was TWO of the Perfect Effect, Grand Maximus rifles (the red version of the PE rifle for Fortress Maximus)...!! Since Hasbro chose to screw us over with the main release version, by not giving him two rifles, I got better ones of my own from PE... And they look freaking amazing with Metroplex dual wielding them, and now having a big shoulder cannon.
For me, personally, if I couldn't have gotten any of the other upgrades or tweaks to my Metroplex, the one that I had to have to make him really look like Metroplex was the double guns! Even as much as I am really happy with the feet upgrade kit, for better posability and stances, the dual big red guns are such a defining factor for the figure, that when they were announced as repaints for Grand Maximus, I immediately knew I had found the solution to the problem Hasbro had created, and I had to have them, so I went to TFSource and immediately put 2 on pre-order while I had the money available for 2...! Those guns are freaking awesome, and yes, I would highly recommend the original blue version for your Fortress Maximus, if you can find one, and if you have a Fortress Maximus or reissue version of him. (I also got the feet upgrades for Maximus, as well as a couple of other upgrades, but the rifle is key, because once again, Hasbro dropped the ball...)

I wanted him for so long, but the prices were so crazy that I ended up settling for the 3rd party one for $160 instead. The lack of ankle tilt holds T30 back.

Hello Captain Kyle I got the Japanese version of Metroplex he has Chrome on him
The Iron Factory Turrets and Manacle were meant as a upgrade kit for this Metroplex
The same people that made the 3rd party metroplex are making a legends scale scamper and sixgun two pack

Congrats!! I got the TakaraTomy version...I might be in the minority, but I like that version better than the Hasbro version. I even panel-lined it!
Most of the time, the Takara-Tomy version is a bit better than the US released Hasbro version. It's rare the US toy looks better.
Seeing figures like siege springer being upgraded to a ss86 figure makes me wonder if this figure will get that kind up upgrade. Its impressive due to its height but does have its cheap outs like the Hollow ramp. Weak legs. No ankle movement.
I think that Hasbro should Re-issue this guy as Studio Series Gamer Edition Titan Class......
