    Excel Solution to Quickly Prepare Strip Plan.
    A Strip Plan typically indicates features such as location, lengths, quality, etc., graphically along the road. Preparation of strip plans is a widespread practice to get the feel of the project details at a glance. Engineers prepare Strip plans for a variety of projects like roads, railways, canals, etc. They prepare this at various stages like desk study during feasibility study, DPR & execution stages.

    A Simple CAD Solution is developed by ESurveying, using which you can create a Strip plan of any Project easily by entering data in an Excel Template.
    To prepare a strip plan, In your CAD Package, select Strip plan in the ESurvey CADD menu and then select the ‘Open Strip Plan Template’ submenu item.
    An Excel Sheet opens with multiple Worksheets. Depending on your project requirement, please fill in the Excel Data.
    In ‘Home’ work Sheet, Make Basic Settings - Selection of Road Definition, Drawing Entity properties, and Chainage representation. There are multiple worksheets for entering the data, namely, Road_Width, Road_Line, Shoulder_Width, Shoulder_Line, Point_Features, Cut_Fill, Lane_Configuration, Linear_Features, Junction_Places, and Band. These worksheets are self-explanatory. Depending upon the column heading, enter the data. You can also refer to the Sample Excel file if you are confused about specific worksheet data entries.
    You may be inserting multiple blocks while preparing strip plans. When you install ESurvey CADD, many commonly used blocks are made available in C:\ESurvey\ESurveyCADD\Blocks Folder. You may use these blocks or overwrite these blocks with your blocks. Also, if you are using any blocks other than the ones available in this folder, you can copy and paste additional blocks. A drawing name is considered as a block name while preparing a Strip plan.
    You can prepare the Strip plan for a whole Project with a Single Centreline. Assume you are working on a 5 Kilo Meter project that starts at Kilometre 24 and Ends at Kilometre 29. You may draw the centre line accordingly if you want the whole strip plan in a single stretch. Or, if you wish to strip plans for every 500 Meters, you have to draw multiple lines of 500 Meters Each, as shown below. To help the software understand which line represents which segment, there are many Lisp commands under the Strip Plan menu of ESurvey CADD, such as ASD, RSD, and ISTD, using which you can easily mark the starting distance of each line. In this example, the project starts at 24 KM, and so, the starting distance for the first line will be 24000, and the following line will be 24500. You may mark the starting distance for each line individually using the ASD command or use the ISTD command to mark the starting distance of all the ten lines in a single command.
    Once you are ready with your Excel Data, Blocks and Strip Plan Centre Lines, Click on the ‘Export’ button in the Home worksheet of the excel file. The software will do Data Validation in terms of missing data. If the entered data passes validations, the software will export all the data to a temporary location.
    In your CAD Package, In the ESurvey CADD menu, select Strip plan and then select ‘Open Strip Plan Template’ submenu item.Select the centerline of the strip plan as prepared earlier, and the respective strip plan gets ready.Preparing Strip plan is made such a simple exercise with Excel and CAD Package integration.
