Haha I love how you say 'Aloy defeats the machine(s) and proceeds to her next objective-' etc etc. Whereas for me it was like 'Aloy got owned several times by the machines, eventually manages to defeat them, runs out of materials, has to go material farming and THEN moves on to her next task, where she will once again get owned by the machines.' That's how I played it anyways. 😅

@@marianix1591 haha handled nicely... Forbidden west is actually harder than zero dawn. Imo.... With everything new, it's tough to get used to thinking about food, valor surges, and weapons specials you can unlock. It's like you have to use everything in your arsenal properly, or you're screwed lol
@@kurtisgonzales37 I hear you! I started playing yesterday! I’m taking my time taking plenty of machines down an building up my resources. I remember some of Aloys old skills but haven’t met anything too taxing just yet! 😄 early days though! 😅

This is exactly what I needed with forbidden west coming out on PC now, much better than the other 10-20 minute versions on youtube.
This video is so much better than all the other 10 to 20 minute ones recapping the story. Very detailed and in-depth. I never read the comics so this was very useful. Thank you!

Love how this game didn’t coddle you; early on, these machines will own you. Also love when people start referring to her as a savior, she declares that they don’t own her via this legend and she ‘chooses’ to help. Very well written.

Hell yeah. Even through the game. You had to use the right ammo, and hit them in the right spot. Lol it's the only reason they got any easier. Loved this game. Already have forbidden west on pre order.

While replaying Zero Dawn, I never noticed how they’ve actually mentioned the Forbidden West. In some dialogue it gets mentioned & there’s even a data entry that you can scan that describes the Forbidden West.
Makes me feel like Guerilla has been planning for this game while developing Zero Dawn.

They did plan for it to be a sequel. They were waiting to see how zero dawn turned out. The popularity from zero dawn was their greenlight to make it
I just hope they give it a PC port! This game had me tearing up at the ending and seeing the fate of the alpha primes when that piece of shit Ted who allready ruined the old world OUR WORLD did it again! To the new! Before it even had a chance to exist.

Horizon is by far the best-written and most engaging new content I've found in any media; for me, playing it has been like reading a great book, watching a superb movie, and playing an immersive and engaging video game that brings back all of my favorite aspects of Far Cry Primal with a new futuristic post-apocalyptic twist. Your piece does do the game justice, very good work!
This story is the first to really affect me in a while. You could feel their hope and desperation
I haven't seen a better story recap video till date. It includes all the important parts of the game, mentions the side plots, and just doesn't leave anything. Kudos🎉
The first Horizon is set in post-apocalyptic United States, in the core of the West, in the states of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. Guerrilla did a perfect job in representing the post-apocalyptic versions. The sequel will be set in the Forbidden West, so we talking about California, Nevada, Oregon and perhaps Washington and Arizona. I can't wait for him another month. HYPE😱😱😱😱😱😱

I platinumed this game, got around 300 hours on it but can never get enough and this summary is so well done!! Loved it!
This breakdown and summary of the HZD and the Frozen Wilds (Plus comics) is extremely well done. Don't apologize for how long it was, any shorter and you wouldn't have done the game justice. The perfect summary for players to get reacquainted or new players to get caught up on the lore before playing Forbidden West.

@@keianroth2669 I have something against breaking immersion from a serious narrative with too many jokes. If you can't help it, a few is fine. But not throughout the entire narrative sheesh.
I saw one summary before this one, and I got tired of the jokes of the narrator about how horrible Faros was, or how bad his idea was, etc. Yes yes I know I know let's get on with the story now pls. Oh, more Faros jokes? Uhhgggh. Smh.

Videogame? Maybe. But movies, you got Star Wars, Interstellar, Inception and many many more
@@probablytaha starwars ? Have you even seen what Disney has done to starwars ? Inception was overrated as hell just over complicated to drive plot and interstellar was okay. But horizon has a rich lore. I'm sure you haven't actually gave the lore a deep dive. I'm a scifi buff and it's one of the best writer scifi plots/stories I've seen. Especially the exposition in the game, it was brilliantly done.
@@The_Primary_Axiom I mean I guess? Not to take it away from you, its an awesome couple of games, but the first game's writing is pretty so-so with some really cool lore. Second is better, but first game's moment to moment writing leaves a lot to be desired imo
As far as Sci-Fi games I find a lot more interesting story-wise that I can recommend (in no particular order):
-Nier Automata and Replicant
-13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
-Mass Effect 1-3
-Bioshock 1
-Returnal
-Soma
-Outer Wilds
-Metal Gear franchise
-Dead Space 1+2.
As far as movies/shows go, I think Arrival, Blade Runner series, Ghost in the Shell, Parasyte (not the Korean movie), Cowboy Bebop, and many other animated media tell a lot of unique stories that are some of my favorite
Meant my comment as suggestions to add to your experiences. Like I said, Horizon is a cool franchise, just not nearly my personal favorite

Great explanation. A lot different than mine based on when I played the game. I would've just said, "Smokin' hot ginger kicks ass and saves humanity from Terminators."
Horizon made me clap at the end I was genuinely impressed & enjoyed the game…I can’t wait for HFW.
These recaps of the story are great when you work a ton and can't play through the game yourself.

This is the best storyline of any game Ive ever played, and since I started in the early nineties thats quite a few. Thank you for this recap it was very enjoyable to visit Aloy’s world again and you did it well. 😊

Horizon Zero Dawn starts out as a coming of age story and ends with a save the world plot..... and it was amazing
One of my best experiences in life and on my top 3 game list of all games i have played. Play this if you have not before
I’ve played this game a long time ago and been looking at a good recap to catch up for the next one. The other videos were too short and abrupt for me but this one takes me back like I was actually playing the story again! Great work and really appreciate you making this long and detailed video 🙌🏽
Some of my most satisfying victories was defeating the two Jaguar robots in the early ruins section of the game. Mainly because I was underleveled, and lacked the resources for all of my traps, and was SUPER low on healing herbs. Don’t get me wrong, the mechanics for fighting in this game are amazing. But having to juggle low resources against tough oppenents, even if I died a lot helped me master certain timings and dodges and combos. I died many fucking times. But the more and more I played the better I got at using my abilities and being more conservative with my tools and health. And little by little I went from not being able to kill any, to dying after taking one down, to dying right before taking both, to finally killing both creatures.
Damn I had the same exact experience with those two.

I played and LOVED zero dawn upon release. Been super hyped for forbidden west but as there are so many great games to play and my limited time to game in the first place, I just couldn’t commit to replaying through the original before jumping into the sequel. This recap was super thorough and very helpful! Thank you for taking the time to do this!
I never played the first but i have it downloaded with the dlc free but same no time for that let’s just watch this and play Forbidden West lol… already just beat the first main objective

Seeing Elisabet Sobeck's Legacy and her great sacrifice, I wouldn't get shocked to see Aloy went in that same path in the end of her Journey, She will die sacrificing herself to save the world in the end of her story just like Sobeck,
And I kind of had this weird feeling that if we had someone to walk Elisabet's path, do we also have someone for Ted Faro? Someone who will ruin the world because of stupidity? Someone whose friends with Aloy before but turned cold with each other, possibly become her rival
Ted Faro was far from stupid, he was brilliant but diabolical and wanted to play at being a deity, which is why after all of his failures at building machines that caused the destruction of the planet, he decided humans weren't worth living and tried everything to stop ZD and killed all the people in the conference room at the GAIA Prime facility during The Mountain That Fell. If anyone is close to Ted Faro, it's Sylens
And Aloy is a direct clone of Elisabet, so honestly, it's only natural that even though her upbringing was so completely different than Elisabet's, her basic nature of intellect, curiosity and solving problems is inherent.

@@horizonzeromom I wouldn't say Sylens would become like Ted Faro. Sylens is an extremely curious person. He desires knowledge, and is willing to do anything to gain more knowledge. Rather that be starting a cult, helping a genocidal AI, killing groups of innocent people, assisting Aloy, risking his life to save Aloy, capturing Hades the genocidal AI, and teaching aggressive tribes how to overide machines.
Sylens extremely admires how advanced humanity was before the Faro robot apocalypse. He was in awe of the vast amounts of knowledge they had. Sylens actually hated what Ted Faro did. He viewed Ted as stupid and delusional. Ted's actions and beliefs about humanity at the end don't align with Sylen's ideals and desires.
@@psychonaut175 After having progressed enough in Forbidden West after only 2 days, I will offer that Sylens is certainly egotistical, narcissistic and would literally kill for knowledge, but don't allow his assistance of Aloy to ease his bad character - he only needs her to open the doors that are genetically coded to her being Alpha Prime. Anything else, and I'd be giving away spoilers.

I found your channel when I needed the information necessary to play God of War (2018) and that video was so helpful I knew I could count on you when it came to Horizon. And you absolutely delivered. I platinumed Horizon zero dawn back when it came out, but after years of multiple hundred hour games, the details were a little fuzzy. You did a fantastic job recapping the information. Bravo! I am about 80% done with forbidden west and I figured you know what... I need to go back. I felt really stupid because I didn't remember who Varl was LOL. I didn't realize they met so early in the first game, it's been a long time since I've played. I needed this recap. Thank you so much. This story is literally so perfect. Video games really are magical. The games also have so many side quests you never really have to do to finish the game but man are they satisfying.

this game has really a very unique and well-written lore and it might not be very deep, but its very detailed and everything makes sense there. this is my favourite game, the gameplay is very cool, the game world is beautiful, story is pretty good as well. the sequel seems to be very intresting too in case of story and the game world and gameplay will be even better, ive never seen any game too look that gorgeous
The details is what make it deeps, u can feel the agony and despair of people, I love how they told the story and if you take the time to read those voicemail and emails it's gets even deeper, wives missing husband, kids being trapped in a bunker never experience outside, it gets good can't believe I didn't see this first gameplay
