Here's the thing: In country music, each generation had a guitar virtuoso, someone who just played it like a boss of bosses. In country music, you don't really get solos like in rock, because to solo in country music, you have to be DAMN GREAT. With rock, you can hide subtle mistakes, fuzz out notes, etc. In country, you don't see that. You typically see absolutely clean playing, no mistakes, and also very fast and technical playing. In other words, country guitarists can often beat some of the greatest and most reknown rock guitarists. However, they don't get the spotlight like rock stars do. Chet Adkins, Roy Clark, Steve Wariner, Vince Gill, and Brad Paisley are some of the greatest guitarists generationally in country music. There are many others, but those pop up in my mind the easiest.
