Preserving Our Hindu Tradition | A Perspective from a Hindu born outside of India

  • It's 2018. Times have changed. How are we going to maintain the Hindu tradition?
If you are like myself you probably wondered every so often -- what does the future hold for Hinduism? Living in a country where Hinduism is not the predominant religion or way of life means that there is a chance --however small -- that our tradition and culture could eventually fade away and become a distant memory.
Its easy to sit down and blame the world for your troubles and to be fair Hinduism has been attacked for thousands of years. But today, look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself -- what am I doing to maintain the Hindu tradition?
In order to keep the Hindu tradition alive, we need to be an ACTIVE particpant in Hindu activities as well as the Hindu community. It's easy to sit in front of your computer clicking all day. Real work begins when you get out of your comfort zone. When you dedicate your life to a cause. When you do ACTUAL work.
Thank you to Pandit Rajin Balgobind Ji for a week of Bhakti and Gyaan. You are an inspiration to all of us.

What do i say bhaiya? You completely hit the nail on the head. According to the Ramcharitmanas it says we blame everyone, time, place, circumstance and even Hari for our shortcomings but we ought to know that we are the ones who cause pain and pleasure upon ourselves. Wonderfully done! Bhagwan's blessings...

Dipak bhai Gupta; good to hear the greeting. According to Valmiki Ramayana Sri Ram flew out from Ayodhya for Lanka of a bird, Jaitayue.
I wonder if you have ever seen anyone flying on a bird. NO, There is no bird that can carry a passenger even across the street. Nor a passenger could be secured to prevent sliding down during ascend and topple over during the flight as birds tilt and flip in flight. Pawan Putra Hanuman without wings flew across India carrying a parvat. Can you name anything that flies without wings? NO, Everything that flies from butterfly to puspak viman has two wings. Mariach transformed into a deer to lure Sita. Have ever heard of such transformation. YES. In fairytales like Alice in Wonderland and a princes kissing a frog to transform it into a prince to marry. How desperate? Dipak bhai, Ramayana is a fable. Ram is a FICTIONAL and FLAWED character in the fable Ramayana who murders Ravana and Khubhakaran and asks Sita, mother of his two sons Luv and Kush to undertake morally reprehensible Agno Pariksa to prove her sexual fidelity as if sexual purity would have made her and any other women in the World FIREPROOF. Was ram also a stupid misogynist and a double murderer. Guptaji, think with an open and critical mindset not simply repeat what has been brainwashed in yo by your parents and reinforced by the Hindu Samaj. Truth is bitter but the truth willset you fre. Satyemeva Jayete.

Prasanto Mukherjee I don't know which Valmiki Ramayana you are reading? Either you are a drug addict or you are reading Qur'an instead of Ramayana 😂🤣
Rama never rode over jatayu. Jatayu was like a Father to Rama in Dandakaranya. He also tried to protect Seeta from Ravana, but martyred in the process.
So don't smoke ganja and read Ramayana, it would be beneficial.

I am going to be moving to Canada next May to pursue further education, and honestly the one thing that scared me was that I'd lose my identity as a Hindu. I have been raised in a fairly religious household with my father being the most devoted. He taught me and my younger brother a number of rituals and shlokas that we would recite everyday. I am absolutely in love with my dharma, and wouldn't forfeit it for the world. But what about when I am not surrounded by like minded people? Will I slowly become another social media Hindu? Thoughts like these really haunt me. But then I see people like you Shawn, and I feel really hopeful that maybe, just maybe there's hope for Hinduism to survive outside its sacred birthplace. Thank you for giving me this confidence. I hope I can make my contributions and remain a true Hindu.

The thing is with Hindu dis-uniformity. Unlike Islam and to a lesser extent, Christianity, Hindi rituals and Hindu things differ widely from one community to other. I as a Bengali Hindu, I might not be drawn towards Bhagwath Katha performed in a predominantly Gujarati Hindu community

Hinduism offers nothing beyond death but Jesus Christ came to give us eternal life freely. So start reading the gospels yourself which will save you from hell. Man has made his own gods and Lucifer has decieved us from the olden days.

Brother you must convert to a monotheistic religion. Sikhism goes totally against Hinduism as we don’t do idol worship but worship the one god . Don’t even want to go to mahatma Gandhi. The Sikh gurus are the truth as even the wise Muslim sheiks and Saudis regarded them as god like men
