I feel like the line-up was 50% veterans (Lampard, Drogba, Cech, Cole, etc.) and then just some random assortment of dudes who were either rotational players, subs or newcomers. But at the end of the penalty shootout, all of them and the entire team on and off the bench, were heroes.

For me, the most best penalty shootout I've ever watched. Everything about it is incredible. Neuer taking the penalty, David Luiz's run up, Schweinsteiger's agonizing miss, and Drogba's farewell (the return in 2014 sorta ruined it though) . Just incredible.
I still don't understand wether Schweinsteiger missed or if Cech saved it. Think Cech had fingertips to it. Gotta say thoough, that as special as last night's win was, it was nothing compared to 2012. We reedemed and avenged the 2008 and 2009 losses, stared defeat in the face so many times (3-1 vs Napoli, 2-0 vs Barca, Messis penalty, Mullers goal, Robbens penalty, etc.), but were saved by individual brilliance, team effort or just luck every single time.

Ahhhh I remember watching this at The Elephant pub in Elephant and Castle. THAT penalty went in and I dropped like a stone to the floor, rolling about in happiness. Someone shouted "quick, somebody call an ambulance!" I clambered to my feet.
