Genau! My plan at the start of the year was to study abroad for my final semester. Sadly that couldn't happen so at least I can see Eve and dream that someday I can be there too.
11:00 - Oh same, it's so nice to simply feel like you genuinely have time for cooking and household chores... When you can just.. exist and care for your space properly, instead of always having to rush that and not do it properly and be elsewhere with your thoughts while doing it anyway
Great video Eve! If you'r worried about not speaking enough German, I would genuinely love it if you vlogged all in German!
Me too! Although I remember Eve saying before that her videos in german take very long to edit because she has to type out the subtitles so it would probably be a similar situation for vlogs!
I'm happy you're feeling better and can admit to yourself that you weren't. It's totally normal to feel sad in hindsight, it's a bit like feeling sad for a good friend. Just try to focus on the fact that you're better now and learn from it

the whole part where you were discussing how much you struggled mental health and felt bad for yourself reminded me of this song called "inner child" It is my comfort song. I hope it helps you too !!
About not following when everyone is speaking at the same time, I felt like this on my year abroad in Spain. It was almost like everything was echoing and I couldn't even pick up what people were saying, my mind would so easily blank it out against my will, ha-ha. But I do think listening to music in that language weirdly helped with it?
It would be super cool to see a video on how you went about making friends in Berlin!

26:00 or so. I get it Eve. Instagram keeps bringing up photos from my MRes year, and I look so sad, so cold and so poorly in 95% of them. And at the time I could not see it. My GP wasn't concerned at the time, so I assumed I must be fine, and I now get why my supervisor was so scared. Why he thought he'd be going to my funeral, not my graduation, and if i think about it too much I get consumed by the guilt.
what you said about watching your old vlogs from first year really made me realise that you never know how someone is really doing. I remember watching those videos at the time and thinking that you were having a great time and stuff, I never really thought about how hard some things might have been for you. good to know youâre doing better now tho! xx
True. That's why it's so nice when people open up about their struggles I think! Creates awareness and a space for people to talk about mental health. And makes you realise that like no one has a perfect life, no matter how perfect it looks on the internet (I'm mainly looking at Instagram influencers here....)
I felt the same in first year and always look back and want to give 1st year me a hug! So I'm giving you a virtual squeeze to remind you that you are amazing

videos like these just make me wanna drop everything and move. been five years since I moved to the UK but I think I have a soft spot for Berlin for some reason. it just has so much history and is so "artsy" and creative that it feels like it would mesh well with how I want to live my life. I do feel like not knowing German would be a barrier to getting work but then again depends what kind of work I wanna do and if I'll start my own or something but just be based there. anyhow, don't be harsh on yourself for not using the language so much, I feel like that pressure will only make you feel bad but not help with what you want to get out of the experience so just stay positive about it, doesn't mean that some other day you won't have a double dose of it so it will balance out eventually. def want to go so bad now seeing how wonderful it is again. I've been there only during cold months so never experienced a berlin summer.

Ugh, the biggest thing I miss about living in Europe is those windows- I love the windows! I don't get why the UK ones don't have the ability to tilt and just leave the top open
you should watch DRUCK itâs a german remake of the original norwegian show SKAM (there are 5 other european remakes of it too), and itâs amazing, comes along with social media content too
This year marks 5 years since I moved to uni and I know how you feel about looking back on your past self and thinking about how much has changed! I also remember starting my 3rd year and really making the effort to make the most of it because it was like the last stretch! Glad to see youâre doing so well now and living your best life in Germany!
if you're looking for german netflix shows: Dark is the best series ever made i'm note even kidding. Wir sind die Welle is also pretty good. Biohackers is also so original and exciting. and there's also Druck on youtube, a masterpiece !!! watch it lmfao
Yeah Netflix has been elevating German television with original productions but Dark is seriously one of the if not the best shows I have ever seen

In Germany you just say Döner btw! Hearing the word Kebab is very rare
Interesting. It's the other way round in Austria, we usually only say "Kebab".
hey! iâm from turkey and iâve never heard anyone say âdöner kebabâ (iâm from istanbul though, might be different in the southeast region) we just say döner and kebab is a different kind of meat based dish here x

I think it would be a really good idea if you start doing more vlogs in germany that way you're "englishing" > < and you could write translation in english and that way you're sort of training your translation from germany to english skills. You could also attract a new "demographic" of people who would like to learn germany and at the same time your viewers would still be able to watch your videos and maybe even learn with you. I'm only suggesting. You know best for yourself obviously. And Berlin looks like a dreamđ
Don't worry about understanding conversations. I went on exchange to Germany when I was younger and got very good at saying to my exchange and his friends 'Keine Angst, ich kann sie verstanden, aber ich kann nicht schnell genug denken, um zu verstanden und zu sprechen in die gleiche Momente' ('Don't worry, I can understand you, but I can't think quickly enough to understand and to speak in the same moments')
Moving to Berlin in just over a week on Erasmus to study for the year, canât wait for it

The same thing happens to me when I look at photos two years ago, I was in a dark place and it takes me back to how I felt then and how poor my mental health was and how insecure I was.

I really felt for you in terms of looking back and seeing how unhappy you were. I was miserable most of second year (Iâm in the same year as you) and seeing you thriving in Berlin makes me so happy, and gives me hope for myself too. I also really get feeling sad about how much of uni is already over- I sometimes feel like I somehow âwastedâ time at uni being sad, but if you didnât experience that and learn from it you wouldnât be so much happier now xx

I cried yesterday because one of two cakes I made had a crack, it was being iced so it got hidden anyway so... yeah, we all get sad for what we later think are stupid reasons. I get your sadness. "OMG! My baking abilities used to suck at the start of uni" (I do a food and baking degree) is what I think so much of the time. The concert looks like it was SO fun! More vlogs, yes pls!

you r a foreign country you should eat and drink outside as much as you can. eating out is not just because one doesnt want to cook etc. it is about socialising snd connecting with people and diving into the culture. so u dont have to justify that, cuz believe me i speak from experience , once back home u will regret it. you can cook as much as you want when u r back home
