If you look at the lyrics, the song is a call to action, on behalf of Anu as the earth goddess. We're despoiling the Earth with our heedless, superficial culture and those of us who hear the "voice of the gods" need to come together to fight for her. The fact it begins with children is significant. We fight for the world they will inherit, and they will be the ones who eventually lead the fight.

YEs Anu is an earth mother type. The Danube is named after her.

That was a fantastic intro, that mix between the innocence of the children and then that change to the drums and her singing 😍

OK the hurdy gurdy is already mentioned, the bagpipes are so called uillean pipes (pipes of the elbow) because they have no mouth piece to blow into the bag, instead the bag is inflated by pumping it with the elbow, the instrument you thought was a lute, is probably an irish bouzouki, that's very common in folk bands.

@@EvyTheFox By the way. I just watched Eluveitie live on Hellfest 2022, ant they played Aidus as their last song and I was curious because I have never seen a folkband playing the uillean pipes live on stage, the only band i have seen that was Nightwish, and still is the only band i've seen that instrument played live.

@@EvyTheFox Maybe I was a tittle too vague, I was not there in person, I just watched the recording of their concert. If I were 20 years younger I would have liked to be there, but maybe it would have a been a bit too overwhelming, so much bands that I like, Eluveitie of course, Jinjer, Epica, Nightwish, Sabaton, Blind Guardian .... But to your question, it was a shorter set, early in the afternoon, but great energy. I think after two years in lockdown all bands were so excited to be on stage again.

Welcome to the best folk metal band in the world! This band is from a whole another level. The bands name is pronounced like EL-VAY-TEE the "u" is silent. Next reaction to this magical band should be "ELUVEITIE - Ategnatos (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)". Maybe you should also react to my other absolute favourite band EPICA a super talented symphonic metal band from the Netherlands (where I live), this band is also from another dimension with such an amazing female vocalist with a beautiful crystal clear soprano voice, I can suggest some songs if you wish.

Eluveitie is so special. I was on a festival, when I saw them the first time live. When Fabienne sang, I was crying, when Chrigel ( the singer) started singing, I wanted to go in ANY moshpit. It was a beautiful emotional rolercoaster. They are singing a lot about the nordic mythology and not only in english, sometimes they are also singing in Helvetic ( i hope it is called like that?) which is a very old swiss language which not a lot of persons can speak today, even in Switzerland. So Songs like Epona are in Helvetic and it sounds so beautiful.

Greetings from a big Eluveitie fan from Murmansk, The Russian Federation. Great reaction!) Subscribed! The instruments in the breackdown part of the video are: Mandola, Harp, Hurdy Gurdy, Violin and Backpipes, as far as I understand from the short shoot of the band members at the video. Anyway, keep up the great work, lady!) Cheers!)

Love your reaction to one of my favourite songs. 🙂
The hurdy-gurdy player is Michalina Malisz, and she has her own channel which I recently started watching.
It seems she started doing hurdy-gurdy covers of Eluveite songs, then later got to join the band!

Hi, maybe someone has already answered you about the traditional instruments that Eluvetie are using; anyway you may see (from the right to the left) a violin, a mandola (an instrument of the family of the lute), a bagpipe, a bagpipe, a celtic harp and a hurdy-gurdy.

The instrument you are trying to identify is a "Hurdy Gurdy" in English. "Drehlein" auf Deutsch, glaub ich. But I'm not sure. There is a girl called "Patty Gurdy" who is a great exponent of it you might like to check out.
