  • The Somali Australian Friendship Association (SAFA) organised its 14th annual graduation ceremony and community awards on Friday 22nd December 2023.
These have become extremely important for the Somali community in Australia through their recognition of excellence and in creating role models for the younger generations.
One of our key goals is to encourage more students to take up tertiary education so that they can secure a better future for themselves. We also urge students to seek knowledge tirelessly, to think globally and to act locally for the betterment of mankind.
Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another. The ticket to better employment opportunities, integration and prosperity is in our hands.
    GRADUATES IN FOCUS:
    UNIVERSITY GRADUATES : 19
    HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES : 43
    COMMUNITY AWARDS RECIPIENTS:17
The event also hosted two interstate community organisations, the Somali Australian Community Association of New South Wales (SACA) and the Somali South Australian football team from Adelaide.
Thank you to our key stakeholders, the wider Somali community in Victoria for their continued support and the organising committee, including Miski Nur, Ayanle Abdulahi, Liban Jama, Abas Sheikh, ilhan and Munira Ali. We value your time, experiences and contributions.
Special thanks to our sponsor, the Scanlon Foundation. Your support is important to the delivery of this program.
Wishing you all happy holidays and all the best to you in the year to come!!
