Think back to when Owens mom passed, Flora's little speech to him. "What if I was already dead, but everyone could still see me?" Or something along those lines. And then they cut to Hannah real quick.
This episode requires patience, but it pays off so much - such a brilliant episode. God rewatching bly manor through these weekly reactions is reminding me just how good this show is. I think its soooo underrated in Flanagan's catalogue.
@@liamkampff1 yeah the sorrow, especially in Ms. Grosse’ acting just elicits an emotional response, and Owens monologue about his mom last episode had me crying. It’s so beautiful and I feel like I’m only noticing small things in this rewatch
Ill argue blake is wrong. Hannah IS real. She’s just dead. She DID and DOES exist. I actually cried more at Hannah’s pleas to Owen at the end as she started to realize she was dead. So sad
i mean yeah but that’s more a matter of wording, obviously he knew she existed she was interacting with everyone, it was just a callout like “she’s not real”
You can say what you want about JKR (and people should, because she does not stop texting about other people) but her books do have some great lines. In example: “Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”
And then as an additional knife twist in your emotions, her continually reminding herself of all the details so that she doesn't fade away. It's really heartbreaking. Probably most heartbreaking character in any Mike Flanagan show. Even in Hill House, at least the people there continue to exist in relative peace and continuity, whereas here she's stuck in a loop and is slowly forgetting everything.
I was impressed that Blake's mind went there. I was totally surprised. I am so glad no one was so excited they spoiled it. This episode broke my heart. I was really hoping Owen and Hannah would get a happily ever after.
Owen says in his conversation with Hannah that he is part of her subconscious… the memories are put together to get Hannah to realize she’s dead. Owen is a “sounding board” of her mind to put the pieces together - but part of her subconscious. She starts the mantra at the end, because if she doesn’t admit she’s dead she can stay physical which is why she can touch stuff and be seen while Peter goes in and out. He admitted he was dead and acknowledged it so doesn’t have the strength Hannah does. Very sad but very good episode. It’s a controversial one- some like the going in and out of memories, some say it was too confusing but I really liked it and had no issues understanding what they were going for.
4 Episodes to Go. Since Owen and Jamie were able to leave the Bly Manor grounds at the end of the night seems to indicate they are still alive. We know that Hannah, Peter, and Rebecca are dead / Dani is alive, leaving Miles and Flora's fate unknown, Blake, Cojo, Corey, and Igli.
i don't know if anyone has commented on this but every episode is named after a henry james book (the author of the turn of the screw the book this show is adapting) and they took parts and plots of those stories and blended them into the main story which i think its pretty cool and it makes this show and this adaptation richer, more original and unique specially for those of us who already knew the story. sorry if my english is not the best lol spanish is my first language

This is hands down my favorite episode of anything Flanagan has done. The editing is so good but the writing is amazing. My heart aches every time I'm watching a reaction video and we first see her staring down that well... 💔
20:13 this scene is such a perfect little snap shot of talking to someone heading down a bad path relationship wise. Hannah cared so much for everyone in that house, even in death it’s all she was worried about, everyone else 😢😢
I am enjoying this so much! I love watching Corey’s reactions because it seems clear that he is loving and appreciating this amazing show. Thanks, guys! ☺️
Since one of the Bly Manor ghosts is as you guys said a plaque doctor that seems to indicate that ghosts go back at least that far at Bly, Blake, Cojo, Corey, and Igli.
It's been a few years since I watched this episode for the first time, and I still think about it a lot. T'Nia Miller gives an incredible performance. She never fails to move me. ❤️
My Dad had Dementia from June 2013 to January 3rd, 2024 when he passed away in his sleep. Even though they're acting here living with anyone with Dementia is a 24/7 commitment as I took care of my Dad alone after the passing of my Mom on July 19th, 2021. This Friday is the 3rd anniversary of my Mom passing away💔🥺🤧
my grandma (my grandma's sister actually, but she didn't have any grandkids, so she's always been our 3rd grandma) also had dementia, for over 2 years. my uncle (who suffered from leukemia) took care of her, mostly by himself. it was awfully hard, even though we all tried to help as much as we could. it's a horrible illness, it destroys people physically and emotionally. not only the person affected, but the people closest to them. she died in 2019. my uncle's illness came back almost immediately after, and he died two years later, alone, in his sleep. sorry for your loss. i wouldn't wish dementia on my worst enemy.
While yes, this episode leaping into different times is about her being dead and being in denial of it, it is also like a representation of what dementia is like. That's why the episode mentions dementia a few times. Similarly, in Hill House, episode 5 is a representation of Nell's depression and being haunted by her own death.
This ep was so good. It baffled me when i first saw it and then there was a strange sense of satisfaction at the end... love the way this show was made
Lol Blake wants to be right soooooo bad 😂😂😂. Technically she’s real, but she did die. Her consciousness and ability to interact with the living made her real even after death.
Can I ask if y’all are roomates do you ever do reactions with everyone in one frame and together? I thought y’all did split frames cuz you lived in diff states but now I’m confused. Still loving all your reactions! ❤ one of my favorite CZcams pages
absolutely love that you all just thought Dani was bi and it was no big deal. it was funny seeing all the comments being a variation of 'Lesbain!' for the last ep lol I watched this follow up series with my family before and tbh it didn't hit emotional for me around them (maybe because they complained the whole time) but I really really appreciate the Raggedy Pack reaction to this series, not only are you all so perceptive about the plot and character details in unique ways but also the actual heartbreaking moments hit so hard because of the commentary you do. cried to a lot of the moments that I didn't when I watched before and I actually appreciate this contained season now. I hope you all know who amazing and entertaining your commentaries are ❤️
Have you noticed by now what the overarching real theme of this series is? So what the series is really about, if you remove the supernatural. In Hill House it was unprocessed, suppressed trauma and their consequences. Here at Bly Manor it is memories in the whole spectrum. Dementia , Alzheimer's, memories disappearing, losing Identity (faceless Lady in the lake). If you want to watch the series from this perspective. In principle, in this series, as in Hill House, the supernatural is just a metaphor.
I hope you guys don't take the comments from last episode negatively. We were just finding it funny that y'all missed her being gay, not a "ugh these reactors are slow" and not an "ew men" moment. Definitely a straight men moment but in a harmless funny way 😂.
This episode really is what makes or breaks a nec-- the show. And it is a doozy of an episode. Lot of reveals, and a lot of questions as to what exactly happens when someone is a ghost that will only raise even more questions when you watch the next two episodes.
Its a fantastic episode, frustrating and complex as Hannah weaves in and out of her and even Rebecca's memories. Desperately trying to hold on to her sense of self and understand what has happened. Even seeing Owen as her conscience. On the back of a great performance by Rahul Kohli in the last episode we get an equally great performance from both him and T'Nia Miller in this one, just award worthy. I hope Blake gets his apology in writing.
"Well" enough alone AND "Miles" away. All the puns!! Anyway, Blake and I are in good company because I've also suspected for quite some time that Hannah Grose has been some sort of spectral being, although strangely corporeal. Her generally odd behaviour tipped me off. Although nice enough, she always seems so "scattered" and odd. It's been clear to all, I think, that Miles was possessed of an "unclean" spirit for quite some time and that he's dangerous. It's a good thing I wasn't in this story because Miles might've wound-up in the well, himself. 😉Apparently, Hannah is condemned to remain within the limits of the estate, the glue-trap. I think all the spirits/ghosts seen likewise. They're ghostly prisoners. Owen says: Memories fade, we could fade out at any time. Or something like that. Yes, I think "memory" or "memories" are a key. Without memory, Hannah is afraid she'll fade away. Is that what's happened to the other ghosts? No one knows who they are anymore? Didn't they allude to something like this in "HIll House?" Yes, when Olivia was talking about the dead kitten at its funeral to Shirley. She said something like we become alive again after death when people remember us. Something like that. Is that why Hannah is always in the chapel lighting candles? It's an act of remembrance. Unless I've missed something, the big question now is what or who is that "thing" that walks from the lake, why is it so deadly dangerous to anyone it encounters? Apparently, someone remembers it otherwise it would disappear, right? Are all those other spirits in the house its past victims? Because the one ghost wears an ancient plague mask, this thing, which I presume killed him, must be quite old, I'm thinking.
I can't figure out how old you guys are. Blake looks like a teen and the rest of you look late 20s. Also, can't wait for episode 8! It explains the history of the house.
