The Izu Peninsula is located at the edge of the Philippines Sea plate and recognized as a World Geopark. The entire peninsula was formed by volcanic activity.
You will see many volcanic terrains along the roads.

コロナで帰省できない中、ビデオを観て走り慣れた場所を実際に走っているようで嬉しかったです。

Konnichiwa. It is interesting on this Izu playlist the different tunneling techniques used. Some of the tunnels are just rough hewn rock with no cement shell covering, just bare rock, and others are built with the cement shell and lighting that usually goes with the tunnel project itself. I wonder if these cliff side roads were there, before they were paved? They do love their cliff side road systems. The views are phenomenal.
At the end of video located in Kayama Yuzo Museum 🤩 one of my favorite place 😄
I see that there are no cars that overtake even though the road is quiet, very safety, different from in my country
