Getting to know the reef fish at Hanauma Bay

Last weekend we went to one of our favorite snorkel spots around the island of O‘ahu - the beautiful Hanauma Bay. There are so many beautiful fish to see there and we were lucky enough to see some that we’d never seen before including a filefish and even a cute little cuttlefish! At one point I got a little too close to a humuhumunuknukuāpua‘a and he got a little worked up, which made me laugh a little, even though I also felt kinda bad. We’ve tried to identify many of the fish featured in this video, both in Hawaiian and English, so you can use this as a fish ID guide for Hawaiian reef fish!
