They were a great idea when they started and resulted in innovations, but now that everyone else does the same thing...for less cost, they are just an unnecessary expense. If they want to keep selling guns at inflated costs, they need to come up with something new. I give them credit for setting a standard for everyone else to meet. But now you can get reliable polymer frame handguns from Taurus, Mossberg and many others, for half the price. And much more innovative guns from SIG or H&K for the same cost.

Hey Matt, you should start teaching gun safety on this channel. I'm sure a lot of people would benefit from it, I know is enjoy it. I also feel like you are one of the few people who could be serious and teach gun safety while making it fun and entertaining. Love you're videos and can't wait to see more.

I have 3. Sold every hand gun I have. Canik for life. Tp9 elite Sc is my everyday. I swear canik will bankrupt a lot of midrange handguns. It’s so cheap, easy to take apart and my shooting dramatically improved

I love the intros!!! I first thought he was a wimp because the first video I watched was him shooting a magnum research (45 70) pistol. But now I can't stop watching his videos.
I remember the first time I shot a STI Trojan chambered in.38 super and I fell in love with how great it felt and the accuracy was exceptional. Had to hand it back to my mate and go back to using my CZ shadow which left me thinking ignorance is bliss❗️ Texans sure know how to make pistols..

I watch your videos a lot, like every episode. I'd have to say this is my favorite because how well he explains the little details for someone just starting out. You should do more like this.
You think dueling trees are tricky/ Wait until you meet the Texas Star.
That is my favorite target. I like to shoot top, left, right, left, right, and then get what is left if needed. I know others like to shoot the lower one and let them come to them. With my method, it doesn't move as much and what is left is at the bottom. The big paddle spinner that sits 4-5 feet tall, which you have to alternate hitting top and bottom, with a pistol, to flip it over, is a challenge as well. I shoot 40 cal and used some heavy bullets for that stage in the local match. Normally I run a light 160 grain that feels like the recoil of 9mm. Dueling tree man vs. man competitions are nuts. I competed against Mike Dalton one time; one of the guys who started steel challenge. He beat me and I took second that year. The next year, I beat him, but neither of us was near the top out of the entire group.
I use a stock Glock 19 Gen 4. I’m sure it’s not on the level as that pistol, but I don’t miss, so it works.
If you want to beat Jerry, you best break his hand on the handshake because it’s not happening.

Serious question: @ 2:25 you explain that you prefer 9mm over .45 because it has less recoil and you do not need power. Why aren't you using .22 then? I assume (I have no firearm experience whatsoever) that would be (in this situation) agian a step better compaired to 9mm?
Stefs Engineering I’m definitely not gonna pretend I know the rules, but my guess is that the competition rules have a minimum caliber requirement that .22 doesn’t meet. 9mm is probably the smallest you can go.

.22 Long Rifle is not suitable in this case, because they are rimmed cartridges, greatly limiting the maximum capacity. The reason you do not typically see double-stack .22 LR magazines is because of a phenomenon called rim-lock, which will cause jamming and malfunctions - this is when the rim of a cartridge rides on the rim of another, preventing it from being loaded into the chamber.
This is why typically, .22 LR pistols tend to have a capacity of around 10 rounds, in a single stack. You may see a little more, or a little less, depending on the model, but they're virtually all single-stack for this reason.
For competition, you want the highest possible capacity you can fit in a magazine, in order to have to reload the least possible. But you also want your firearms to be as reliable as possible, so that you don't waste time clearing jams and malfunctions (which is part of the reason why drum magazines are out of question as well).
Matt stated that in his specific discipline, he is limited to 20 rounds in his pistol magazines, therefore he is using a 20-round magazine; but as you surely know, there are even greater capacities available!
