Abby Barron I wish we could see his face during that moment, oh my goodness.
Charlotte is my favorite character. She stands up for what she thinks is right no matter what, and that's pretty awesome.

You know, it didn't really occur to me the first time I watched these, but for someone as awkward and shy as Darcy, confessing his love must've been _terrifying._ And then he watched the videos and found out the girl he loved not only hated him, but spent about 60% of her vlogtime making fun of him and making sure everyone knew how obnoxious he was. Oh, and seeing Dickham charm her and feed her lies about him, which probably also brought up memories of what he did to Gigi. That couldn't have been a fun night for Darcy.

Exactly ! You've just put words on what made me so sad about this episode. But for me the saddest part is, despite all of this, he still apologizes to her ...and for what ? For his presence in Lizzie's life !
Sometimes I wish they'd make vlog or book or actually anything that would tell the story from HIS point of view. Now that I would go cray cray for.
To top it off one of her Question and Answer videos featured Wickham - and they were CLEARLY flirting. If Darcy wasn't a gentleman, I happen to think he would have smashed a whiskey glass against a wall after seeing that.

@@hannahanneabraham97 newsies were, as i understand it, the people who sold newspapers on the streets, and they often wore caps like the one lizzie uses for her darcy costume. there's a musical about them as well (called newsies), but i haven't listened to it

The best thing about this series is how Charlotte is written. 100% best Charlotte hands down.
My favorite part about this episode (still. Cause I've seen it a bunch of times) is how Darcy is legitimately more upset about being called a Newsie than a soulless robot.

Well, I would have totaly rejected him to, discarding George for I would have never fallen for that stunt, just him fucking up the confession by insulting her and her family would have been a dealbreaker for me, adding Jane . . . He sure had it coming. . . . But I still feel sorry for him, he tried?!

Daniel Vincent Gordh is actually such a good Darcy what
He is! I don't get all the people hating his portrayal. He actually made Darcy awkward instead of just aloof and dreamy--which was Austen's point in the first place, in Regency England, Darcy's attitude wasn't considered attractive, that's a modern thing. DVG did great!
+Kathleen Villanueva definitely! he portrays how he isn't good in social situations, and although that was to do with class (which is not so applicable today) it can still be interpreted as his pride. I think he's really true to the character which I love

He is the 2nd best Darcy after Colin Firth amongst all portrayals. And in a way, this is exactly what darcy would probably be without 19th century manners forcing him to hide his shyness behind aloof politeness. 19th century rich people were trained so a man in Darcy's position would never have come across as awkward because he would have learned how to hide it. In modern world, not so much.
He is so perfect. I don't know the behind the scenes of why they never went ahead with the wedding script that ashley wrote, but i really wish they'd done it because i wish we had more of him.

It would have been way cool if Darcy's letter was in the form of a vlog. Like a video message just for Lizzie.

+overthemoonwithme Yeah a lot of people, myself included, often find it easier to write what is trying to be said over verbalizing it.
+randylion Yeah, but Darcy has said he has difficulty explaining himself, and it's pretty clear he's not the greatest conversationalist. Writing stuff down probably helps him out more.

I love the way Darcy can't stop looking at Lizzie. Even when he knows that she is filming, he gives her his full attention and he is the only character that does that. I love the way he loves her!
It's been YEARS, and I've seen this series multiple times (on DVD, even!) but the moment when Darcy walks in unnoticed at 1:50 always makes me scream. Stop filming with the door open, Lizzie!

This is the video they showed in the TED Talk that got me intrigued to the point of wanting to watch the series. From 2:48-4:13. The hesitancy as he asked her to read the letter and walked out was done perfectly. I teared up. I don't do that easily.
"And a Newsie." Laughed out loud.
Got a little angry when she just disregarded the letter even knowing she would read it.
Charlotte isn't only a great best friend, she's a great sibling's best friend!

All the emotion and effect that Darcey's character put into it made me feel sympathetic for him. I too am someone who would rather hide away, but for I would read a book instead of fake text'd.

I've got to admit, having watched this once already and recently read the book and seen the BBC adaptation, I really like this Darcy. He's less of a slave to his anger and far more considerate than Lizzie gives him credit for, which makes her prejudice much more apparent.

I'm binging these for the first time and have been desperately awaiting the Darcy reveal, but also kind of worried that he wouldn't live up to my expectations... but.... he totally lived up to them. *fans self* *makes weird gutteral sound*
OMG - my heart has been split in two and then ripped out of my chest and then stomped on - dammit Lizzie! In the book, you couldn't tell Lizzie's hurt or hatred after the proposal. Here, hearing her tell a camera everything she is feeling about him all the time, this is a million times worse.

I think he wanted to say something else, but either couldn't bear to deal with Lizzie's reaction to his letter, and/or decided at this point that he would stop coming to see her and let Lizzie decide on her own if she ever wanted to see him again.

That just... really struck home for me. I'm painfully socially awkward and it's a lot easier for me to write things down then to say them out loud (hence why I'm so chatty over the internet. Face-to-face I can barely sputter out a sentence most of the time). I've always related to Darcy, in almost every version of P&P that I've seen... but _this_ Darcy is especially relatable. He's hardly been in this and I already see so much of myself in him that it hurts.
