I just realized this song is meant to be one lover/friend singing to another in the first verse- so it was originally about Ruby being concerned for Sapphire when her visions overwhelmed her. Then they ask if this is when they fall apart- as in the fusion, but you could also wonder if its because the thoughts become taxing on the whole relationship. Then it ends on Ruby reassuring sapphire that its ok and shes there for her.
The second verse morphs and is about the anxious person, a bit more relaxed from their partners encouragement, reassuring herself. Stevonnie reassures herself "Ive got nothing to fear. I'm [still] here.".
This is really a much more intimate song than I originally thought it was. I can really see a relationship blossoming between Steven and Connie after this. Its cool seeing their relationship start to mimic Ruby and Sapphires
+suki3275 I 100% agree. I believe it's also about communication, and how when one person is going through something and is bottling it up, then it affects the relationship negatively as well. Talking and doing something about your problems together, as a relationship, strengthens the bond as a whole. I love your analysis of the song, much appreciated. ^~^
