Each has their own preference and how they are personnaly connected to the island that's why they love it. Every traveller is different and so as every island.
When we visited Pacifico beach sometime ago it was the reverse of what you experienced. The beach was clean but the waves were so big and strong that the local authorities warned us that we were not allowed to surf unless we have some sort of expert level surfing license, whatever that means. Swimming is allowed on the calm shallow parts though..
Bali is Bali, Siargao is Siargao, Bali famous for thousands of temples and it's distinctive culture, and also ultra consistency for it's surfing waves. Did you experience many police when touring the island? I've heard they tend to set up checkpoints to check whether tourists have the right license to drive these bikes and it's making me a bit anxious to rent one when I'll be there.
I really don't understand why many western people love Siargao. As a Filipino I always prefer Palawan.
Palawan is more commercialized. Siargao is more chill/raw, FOR NOW.
Can agree with you on that! However…Balabac…that place is something very special
@@joe_markwickBalabac is the best proud palawena here

Was there for 2 weeks and didn’t get stopped by police once!
