I'm one of the biggest Crow fans out there - the '94 movie is imprinted on my DNA & Brandon's Eric will always be legendary. BUT.....I'm REALLY looking forward to this one. I'm SO GLAD they aren't just copying the Brandon movie or his look. It can stand on it's own as it's own version. Like Bela Lugosi's Dracula vs Gary Oldman's. AND this new movie is bringing a LOT of the new generation to discover Brandon's movie, which is amazing!! I'm just going into this one like it's one of the many comics that have come out over the years. Yeah it's Eric and Shelly again in this, but the characters are so different, I can separate myself from the OG movie.

If it’s a bad movie, we’ll forget about (like part 4. Woof). If it’s great, maybe we’ll get a new series of original & great Crow stories!
They went with the Michael Korby version of the crow from the comics that one had tattoos all over him. Now i do understand why people are complaining because they used the Eric Draven name, and this is obviously not the Eric Draven character. But in my opinion, this actually looks good, but if they had changed the name, i think ppl wouldn't be complaining so much. Actually, who am i kidding? No matter what ppl are gonna complain🤦♂️
They did say Eric and Shelly in the trailer. This doesn't look bad, it just doesn't look like a Crow movie. Looks more like a generic action flick nowadays

I'll preface by saying I'm old, and I absolutely love Brandon Lee's Crow (can't count how many times I've watched it)
I think the visual effects in the new movie could be great because so much time has passed since the original and special FX has progressed.
However, the acting feels soap-opera-ish: overly dramatic, inauthentic, the narrator sounds bored, and it seems to be missing the wit that made the original so good and made it human.
I may give it a try, the action seems to be good, but I personally wasn't impressed by the acting in the trailer.
Minus the tats Skarsgard looks like they took him right out of the comics. Brandon was Legendary as Eric but I never thought he looked like the crow from the comics. JMO. We're Allowed to like Both. We All agree there hasn't been a good crow since the original so I'm All in.

Exactly! That being expressed, I would not be surprised if the trailer (and the upcoming movie) are being released to draw people to view the original film. I did see that the original film will be rereleased in a 4K version. We shall see…

Finally a sane review of the trailer. I'm a big fan of the first movie. I was 21 when it was released in 1994, so I saw it at the cinema here in Sweden. But I think this one could be just as good. Different yes, but up there hopefully.

The issue I have with all this negativity is people don’t understand Miramax/ Disney own the rights to the ‘94 film. The new one must be different because Disney isn’t giving anything up. I’m stoked to see this.

The trailer showed villain with superpwers, unless (a theory) the bad guy and the lady was acting on some drugs.. i think in the original crow the villain was kind of drug emperor

It looks good because it's been 30 years since the original. SFX has evolved immensely, so of course they're going to be able to make it cleaner, and crisper than the original.
If the this movie was completely removed from the The Crow lore, then ya, it would be awesome. But, it's attached to the original, and now there will always be two separate camps, either the love it or hate it sides

The comic book and the original movie have a bunch of differences for one top dollars not the main villain in the book He's just a gang member Shelly dies on the side of the road instead of in an apartment also Eric has no distractions in the book except for his depression. So it's kind of like the comic I guess and just with stuff changed

I always liked the first sequel quite a bit. I liked it just as much as the original really. But every other sequel was $h¡t. This one does look pretty good, but you can't be sure by just watching the trailer.
I wish I can give you 1000 likes instead of just one like because I agree with you 100% I just wish people would just not judge it, but wait until the movie is out and then give an opinion

I was a fan of The Crow: City of Angels (second sequel). After that, no. This movie is going to be worse than the 4th sequel AND the frickin' TV series as well.
I think its a go see. I enjoyed what I saw there. Its not the first film and really dont see them trying to make it that actually. They arent dumb. They could have easily took the budget they had in this and easily made a scene for scene reproduction but didnt. I think its okay to remake it if its based on the obarr source material and not the lee film that that material became. And thats what they did here. His look is closer to the obarr character look. This is catching the same negative heat the crows first sequel did. city of angels went on to box office its entire budget back in two days then added an additional profit of 12 million on top, so regardless of its critics it overcame and was liked. This will do as good as that. And lets not forget one important thing here. It was Edward R Pressmans company that brought us the first movie. They brought us this to. They are not going to shit all over what they called the cornerstone of their company. The Crow. The first one. But they intend to grow it. Make it more. Expand it. And thats cool with me. It beats crappy ass sequels like Salvation and Wicked Prayer.
I’m wish I remembered City do Angels. I only saw it once. I don’t remember it at all, but I think I thought it was okay.

The real mistake is naming him Eric Draven😎it looks kinda like a dope movie, but this is NOT Eric and Shelly's story 😎if they would've used different names i could understand 😎
I'm a huge fan of Lee's version as well. And this new movie does not at all look like what i expected, however i think it is a modern rendition. I'll give it a chance! i'll give anything a chance. Ppl saying the effects look good need glasses. The blood on the wall looks like it's floating. The part where he shoots backward the actor being shot doesn't even react. In the scene where he gets out of the tub, the wound hasn't healed but is not there for half a frame. By this trailer, you can tell the action isn't until the final scene. Not only is this movie not for original fans its not for action fans either. This is Eric and Shelly. It's a shitty remake. A cash grab. Which it will bomb. He talks like Penny Wise in the damn trailer.
To be fair, most of the time, when a first trailer drops, visual effects are usually incomplete.

The crow was a hero not a drug addict he was a musician and Shelly a photographer. It’s a disrespect that they are portraying them as drug addicts.

The more I look at these discussions, the more I KNOW... Nothing will ever top the Original Crow. This trailer just screams "trying too hard" and the violence is lame compared to Punisher Warzone.
I have something else to discuss in the second trailer that has come to light for me, that was unrealized in this reaction.
I'm torn you could have brought anyone back to life but to use Eric Draven,that is a big dishonor to Brandon Lee's Legacy! Bill Skarsgård is a great actor, but watching the trailer the way they changed everything it gives it a John Wick/ Batman dark Knight feel and him as suicide squad joker look! They made a few different films with different characters based off the comic books and the books why couldn't they do that with this one?

If you don’t want a remake. Don’t watch the remake. Simple enough. I’m sure some people don’t like the original.
Bill is an amazing actor and that might be the ONLY saving grace. Brandon had other movies. I grew up watching Bruce Lee martial arts films and then Brandon in Showdown In Little Tokyo and Rapid Fire. Bill has had MANY more opportunities than Brandon who was just reaching the peak of his career with The Crow so it is not fair to compare. This "reboot" has NO feeling to it. James O'Barr lost his fiancee to a drunk driving accident and wrote the Eric and Shelly comic to deal with his grief and loss and they make Eric and Shelly drug addicts?? Also, all the wordplay that Brandon portrayed to perfection is gone with just, "yeah, you did". Their deaths, especially Shelly's was horrific and far more brutal in the OG film which would justify a crow bringing him back to set things right. This is watered down fluff. Even the visuals, set, characters in the OG were brilliant and on point. Bill looks like his brother, Gustav as Floki from Vikings than Draven! My birthday is on Devils Night. I've watched The Crow every birthday since 1994. I was 19 when Brandon died while making the film. 1993 was a horrible year both of my childhood crushes, Brandon Lee and River Phoenix died and my childhood best friend since we both were in our mothers' wombs passed from Leukemia. This movie has had a BIG impact on me and I know how it made me feel and so many others. This new one has no heart. It looks like just like any other action flick nowadays. TK whatever her name is, can't act. They look like the villains they fight. The look, the story, the bad guys are rich, corporate looking guys, everything is off. They should've made it Corby. Enough said. I love Bill. The whole Skarsgard family are very talented. They should've made him play any of the character than Eric. Eric didn't have tats, but if they did it, why make stupid, pointless tats? The eye-nip is so tacky. His hair looks like a cross between Dumb and Dumber meets Joe Dirt. It's so NOT my Crow!
After watching the trailer I finally understand why the trailer appears to work. If you really break it down- it’s the Ozzy Track. If you play this song to any trailer it would probably pass. Ozzy can make things better than they look.
If you are going to mess with a classic you have to respect the original or call it something else. Prime example... MacGyver. Original - an unassuming guy, doesn't use guns, builds things with twine and paperclips, uses science and smarts. The remake - an arrogant lead, high tech toys and yes... weapons. Totally missed the point. Sure, new viewers may like it... but they lose all the original fans. Doing it right... Buffy... the movie was campy but the TV series took it seriously and respected the premise. This one, the trailer's promising... I guess we'll see.
MacGyver didn't use guns in the remake either.

Why do people act like the crow was an original story?? It’s a fucking adaptation of a comic book story!!! It will always be available for different interpretations, the original movie will always be here. I don’t understand why people are being so immature.
I'm a huge fan of the original movie, as well as the comic. I fully expected to not like this at all, but after the trailer, I'm in. I like the different feel. It's its own entity. A nod or two to the original, as well. What's to hate? Some people thrive on nostalgia. To each their own, I guess.

I was more interested before the trailer. I think this looks bland and generic, and *way* too sterile.
The dialogue is awful. It sounds like it was AI generated, and the delivery is mostly flat.
It’s gorier, but the gore is so obviously CGI that it has no punch. The only scene that got my attention at all was when he shot through himself to kill the guy.
Also, the line about “it’s love” was too on the nose. If we need to be told, the film failed to tell its story. If we *don’t* need to be told, then the line shouldn’t be there. (If we don’t see actual chemistry between Eric and Shelley in the movie, then we need to be told. I saw nothing here that made them seem like a couple in love. They came across as an extended hookup.)

You saw the whole movie in the trailer. Backstory? Not of Eric and Shelly. Drug addicts? No...just NO! You are looking at it as just another modern superficial action film. If thats what you want go watch Batman, superhero movies or John Wick. There was far more to The Crow 1994 than either of you are noticing. Thats sad.
