  • The fellas checkout the first trailer for Bill Skarsgård's #TheCrow, a remake of 1994's cult classic starring the late #BrandonLee, who tragically died on set during filming.
That movie has since gone on to become a huge fan-favorite and Fanboytone shares his passionate thoughts as to why it's unnecessary to retell Eric Draven's story.

Exactly, I think this point is precisely what any reasonable *Crow* fan is thinking. The trailer shows that the movie has potential to be good. But the fact that it's Eric Draven works against it so much. Eric was portrayed iconically by Brandon and ultimately that is the definitive version of that character, at least on film. The 1994 film is a cult classic. If they had done a new character in the same universe who happened to become The Crow it would have been so much better and most reasonable fans would have been up for a New Chapter in The Crow universe. But the fact that it's Eric Draven is an instant turnoff to alot of fans that feel this does not represent the film that have come to cherish.
It's like changing the characteristics and motivations of Luke Skywalker in a remake.. ultimately remakes generally are not often well received. Sequels are often better, especially if they act as reboots
Scream 5 acted as a successful Reboot which helped 5 & 6 become even more successful. They were stories set in the universe of Scream, rather than trying to remake the original story.
Hope the movie is good, but very concerned with how they've decided to approach Eric Draven's story. We shall see 🤔

100% agree Tone, had they not used Eric Dravon I'd be more excited. His stories been told. There are plenty of other stories to tell.

Exactly. This could have been its own crow with a deep dive into what the supernatural world really is like. Just like they did for Spawn.
It’s Hollywood just trying to gather as much attention in hopes to sucker someone in to the scam.

I think that people could be drawn to the OG Crow without having this new version use the Eric Draven character.

I didn't see the original at a time when it would've taken a stronger hold on me. I did enjoy it and I'm hoping this one does it justice and pays homage to Brandon and the original and it's not just a money grab like everything else in Hollywood.
It's just a trailer, but the more I watch it the more I think it looks too pretty and refined for what it should be. Action scenes look like they just pulled them from Deadpool/V for Vendetta. I'll watch it, I'll need to do a rewatch of the OG, but I want it to be dark and gritty. But who am I? Just an old fogie now.

it has been 30 years since the first movie. It will always be Brandon Lee's legacy, with or without this remake. I confess I am curious to see this rendition. Did we need it? No, we didn't. Is it a bad idea to make it? Also no.

No other Crow Movies can Top The Crow (1994) Original Movie. They could Imitate but never Duplicate. Brandon Lee's performance was Breathtaking and Extraordinary. And the Film was no Doubt Phenomenal all the way. Don't get me wrong!? I thought Bill Skarsgard is a Great Actor. He Portrayed "Pennywise" the Dancing Clown pretty well. They can do whatever they want, as long as they respect the Original. I guess I'll give it a chance and check it out. 🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

It's a trailer so you have to kind of dial back a bit on reacting to what you see, but the bits of Skarsgård's dialogue in it are just not hitting for me so far. Again, it's pulled out of context by the nature of trailers but his lines fall flat to me. "I killed you ..... yeah, you did." I also don't know if I can mentally get past that he looks like he would have been part of T-Bird's crew from the original movie.

I find that none of anybody’s dialogue is hitting for me. It sounds like it was written by AI and delivered with assistance from sedatives.

I am a big Bill Skarsgård's fan first off. I do have to say though, I will not be seeing this movie, just out of respect for Brandon who in my opinion is Eric Draven. They should have never attached that name to this project.

I have no problem with reboots. Just like Christopher Reeve he will always be number one Superman. I did enjoy Man of steel. But that movie was handled with care. Brandon Lee will always be The Crow. The best ever. My problem with this trailer and possible depiction of the crow is the vibe/look is waaaaaay off from the graphic novel. Seriously do I have to say more… it’s a tragic story in many ways. This trailer doesn’t scream tragedy. It’s screams SEXY, MUSCLES, auto tune rap music, John wick knock off. It’s not James O’Barr unfortunately for true crow fans. Director of SIN City probably could of made a good crow movie

Looks good to me. Im going to go see it. Its better than City Of Angels by miles and squashes the other two sequels. Im not comparing it to the original because there is no comparison to me. But it will stand on its own nicely against the quality of its fellow follow up films. Skarsgard fits this version nicely. Loved the music in the trailer it felt right for what I saw. And that look comes from another crow novel by James Obarr that was released in 1997. It was called The Crow Wild Justice. Long before there ever was a Jared Leto look. In this draven has dealt with a drug issue. That is in the original Obarr story as well. Was cut pretty much from the first film. And the action scenes are not Wick like. They are John Woo like. Where the first film got its action scene style from and so did the Wick movies. I am a hardcore original film fan. But to be critical of the acting you saw in this then you were not paying attention enough to the first film. Cops saying what the crap every time you saw them? Or T-Bird saying I cut you instead of I'll cut you when draven kills him in the alley......masterpiece acting if I ever saw I tell you hahaha....Lets get real. LEE carried that role like an 100 year old Joe Namath carrying the Atlanta Falcons to a super bowl victory in terms of an actor carrying his cast to the finish line with a win. And Lees legacy isnt just that first film. Its the whole franchise. That is his legacy also. And it should at least have decent films in it. Not shit like Salvation and Wicked Prayer.

I don’t really object to doing a new adaptation of The Crow. But, this looks boring and generic. It has awful dialogue, and the delivery is flat. I’ll watch it, but I’m waiting for streaming.

This is a cash grab capitalizing on name recognition. Eric and Shelly being drug addicts misses the mark.
27 people have been the crow, they should have chosen a different name. Honestly, if it wasn't Eric Draven, I'm sure there wouldn't be such a negative reaction. Brandon Lee died for that role, maybe don't step all over his legacy. The Crow did not need to be remade, the original was a masterpiece.
