  • In this video, we compare two strikingly similar Air Ministry H-blocks for accommodating personnel at two airfields in East Yorkshire and Norfolk. Whilst the Yorkshire airfield has suffered worst from decay and vandalism, it falls amongst a derelict technical area of the airfield containing many abandoned facilities forming a kind of military ‘ghost town’ today. Tune in to see it for yourself.

I’m surprised so much of this still exists, an interesting exploration guys. I love places like this 😊 great video

Fascinating place! A good set of buildings with a suprise air raid shelter underneath. Definitely worth the trip to see that I reckon, well done, as usual great music to go with the filming 👍

Fascinating I work in a converted H block and it's amazing to see how uniform they are

Interesting video guys, yet more of the MOD estate left to decay. Having worked in quite a few MOD places over the years, they are often in bad need of repair or modernisation, but provide an interesting time capsule of a long gone era.

Such a shame that these buildings can't be put to use as the basic structure seems ok and with some TLC and imaginative design input I'm sure they could be re-purposed. Not far from my home either.

Very sad to see. Those buildings were home to so many who flew never to return.

Why are we spending £44,000 a year housing ONE illegal immigrant in a hotel, when we have this accomodation available?
Looking at the condition of these buildings ,it appears most are recoverable, and they were good enough for our military,so should be no problem for housing illegals.
As airfields were also fairly isolated they were self-suficient and all amenities were onsite.
Don't know what state the runways are in,but they could depart to Rwanda from there as well.
    Problem solved,eh Priti?

My thoughts exactly! Such a waste of accommodation space.
