You can get an ISBN for the paperback from Amazon, but in that case, they are the publisher, and there might be some restrictions on where all you can publish the book with their ISBN. You might want to read more about it on their site. Alternatively, you can get one for free from the Indian government (if you are in India). It's easy and doesn't take much time. I hope this helps.

Hi Sharada ji, I am happy these videos are helping so many people. I am doing an updated video on the cost side of self-publishing. And I'll answer your question in detail there. But to briefly answer it here - cost depends on the editor, cover, marketing promotions, etc. If you use POD (Print On Demand) you don't have to lock in your money in inventory. They base the POD cost on the book size (i.e. book format size and number of pages, quality of the pages, if there are images in the book, whether it's colored of black & white, etc).
There are many variables affecting the cost of self-publishing, and in my video, I'll share more details.

It makes me so happy to know that these videos are helping you. While budgeting to self-publish your book, if you are planning to do it yourself and not go with a Self-Publishing provider, you can save a lot of money but you will have to put in a lot more time. To start - budget about Rs. 25,000 and aim it towards editing and marketing your book. This is just a suggestion, there is a lot of things that go into self-publishing and it's important to remember that there might be little to no return on your investment initially. So, set your expectations accordingly.

Hi, it'll depend on the publisher. There are some who won't mind and others who don't accept previously published books.

Hi @Ninad Bhatkar, I use the Scrivener app for writing the first draft of my manuscript. And Microsoft word for editing. I also use Google Doc/Drive to back up everything.

Copyright is not mandatory but recommended. If you are self-publishing on Amazon you'll have to fill out their tax form. Make sure you abide by the general laws of the state and countries where you are publishing your books, plagiarism laws, etc.
The FAQ page on the copyright.gov.in/Default.aspx will help answer your specific questions. But to answer your question about how long it takes for copyright, the website states, "After you file your application and receive diary number you have to wait for a mandatory period of 30 days so that no objection is filed in the Copyright office against your claim. In case any objection is filed, the Registrar of Copyrights after giving an opportunity of hearing to both the parties, may decide to register the work or otherwise.
If no objection is filed the application is examined by the examiners. If any discrepancy is found the applicant is given ordinarily 45 days time to remove the same. Therefore, it may take around 2 to 3 months time for registration of any work in the normal course. The cooperation of the applicant in providing necessary information is the key for speedy disposal the matter."

Hi, I would like your take on the authenticity of Partridge India publishers. What do you feel about their genuineness? If I were to write a book could I choose them to publish my stuff. I spoke to them and they claim that they do not have an office in India. thanks
I personally won't go with them. But that's just me based on my research on them and my experience talking to their rep. I'd suggest you do your due diligence before going with any kind of self-publishing company.

Hi, to overcome this I publish paperback for Indian market on Pothi which has an Online Distribution option through which you can sell your books on Amazon India, Flipkart, etc.

So, that i can keep it for my entire life, additionaly I can spend money from my part time jobs only. So, what is the least expense for book publishing. Hi @Pratik Detval, if you are looking for just a memory keepsake sort of a thing that you don’t plan to sell, you can use a DIY option on any self-publishing company sites. I have used Amazon KDP select to get copies of my work which are not available to purchase by others. You don’t need copyright in that case. And it should cost you anything other than the cost of the actual copy of the book and shipping cost. I hope that helps.

Eagle Tech, you can self-publish without spending any money. But to produce a quality book and to market it, you'll have to invest some money. If you are on a tight budget, invest in an editor, and then in your marketing. I will be sharing more about how to budget to self-publish in a coming video soon. Look out for that one.

I am not sure what's this in reference to. If you are looking for book cover designers who use corel, try Fiverr or Upwork. I have never used these services personally for cover design because I design my own covers. I talk more about cover designs in a video which will be up on the 15th of July.
