I have heard a few people online complain about the 2.7, Saying that its junk but, I would beg to differ!!! In my opinion, The 2.7 makes good power for a v-6 & will go 150 -200k with simply regular maintenance, ie oil changes!!!

I seem to be having the same problem with my car.. it says cylinder 1 misfire.. I was at the carwash just after washing it on my way home it started acting like crazy and the engine light was flashing this video has proven to be very useful because it just given me guidelines on what to try first before taking it to a shop and spending an arm and a leg I will try replacing the coil tomorrow since slender one I believe is in the front towards the right close to the intake.

I have a 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertable 6 cylinder. I had taken it to get a tune up and fix what seemed to me to be a spark plug that burned out while I was driving it. While driving it, I began to smell burning oil and then the sound of the car was different. The men that I took it to said that they could fix it and give it a tune up. I picked up the car and brought it home. Later in the week, I drove it to Walmart. The cylinder began to do the same thing it did before it was "fixed". I cannot afford to take it back to the same place since it doesn't make sense that I would pay them twice to fix it... What do you think could possibly be wrong with it? I'm in Anaheim, CA and need to find a reputable garage to fix it and make sure that I'm not taken advantage of.
mathew? im so glad if found you here! quite by accident but you helped solve which i hope is my last issue! im 57, a female and soooo not a mechanic! i need to do the best i can doing my own work on my car. no money!, no man to do it for me so i depend on videos here! cars running fine but was time for new plugs. after putting them in and starting the car there was white wet smoke from the tail pipe also rotten egg smell im thinking blown gasket and maybe a new cat converter. symptoms fit for blown gasket and bad converter but i couldn't figure out why it happened just after putting in new plugs? no previous problems at all before them.. then the converter glows red hot!!!! scared the shit outa me! hahahaha never heard of that happening? in looking into that i find it may not be the head gasket thank goodness cuz i wasnt looking foreword to that job! but i saw a video showing misfire from injectors or coils will cause the cat to do that with the smoke and get hot like that.. have checked the injectors 6 and 2 are bad and cleaned them with spray and added cleaner to the gas and as it stands now cats not getting hot like it was or blowing smoke still a slight misfire but ill give the additives a chance to work. now from your video i also know it could be the coils causing the misfire and its simple enough that i can fix that problem if it is thanks again and now if any more gremlins attack? ill know which mechanic i can visit here : ) ps.. my primary vehicle is my 2 year old 50cc tautau scooter! she has 5500 miles on her with not one major problem no gremlins! haha! )

I have 05 dodhe startus 2.7l . 170,00 miles , pretty smooth ride. Same problem on mine . Scanner reads evap leak, multiple misfire , misfire cylinder 4, i have spark , but theres fuel in #4.. no way to get fuel pressure checked ? Bad injector ? Any thoughts
very good video man i am getting a p0300 so mine is more a random miss fire so i might change all coil packs soon to see if that would take care of that code or maybe it could be something else but its the cheapest to do on a dodge magnum 3.5l v6 motor. The motor does vibrate allot and i am praying that it fixes the problem in hand. Please let me know anything i may not know.

Hi Matthew I have a 2.7 V6 dodge Magnum I just changed the spark plug coil and spark plugs on all six cylinders when I took off the cold air intake manifold to get to the other three spark plug coil and spark plugs on the left-hand side there was a lot of gas under the cold air intake manifold and on top of the manifold in my car I replaced everything put everything back together and started the car and the car is still running rough so what would cause the gas to be on the cold air intake manifold in the manner in the top of the head between the two valve covers where the fuel injectors are
This engine is seriously flawed, maybe even cursed. I had to rebuild a 2.7 TWICE within 100k. Less horsepower than the 3.5, OBDI (not OBDII), really no advantage of this engine whatsoever. Almost nothing can be done to upgrade it. Absolute Junk. Trash it, and buy a HEMI. You’ll still save twice as much than you would have spent on engine work.

I bought a 2007 300 2.7Lit has 135,000 miles , about 3 months into owning it I got these codes p0420 and p0430.I've had all 4 sensors replaced.still got the code back. (sprayed intake with water to see if there is a vacuum leak...no)installed the non-foulers (not a fan of those).and still getting the codes back. I don't know what to do now.Car runs fine that's the only codes I get.I am planning to check the wiring maybe I have a short on them?Pleas help! thank you!
I had an 08 charger had a similar issue. Check the coil packs. You can test them by unplugging one at a time and listening if theres a change in the idle. Then plug it back and move on to the next one. If that doesn't work. It's going to be the Catylic converters. I ordered two new cats from magnaflow. Then took them to a a muffler shop to have them installed. I payed 380 for the cats and 180 for the install. Instead of over 800 bucks.
I had those p0420 and p0430 that means empty your wallet probably both catalytic converters thats what it was for me ...it isn't cheap but you will feel a difference in pickup once done.
2010 3.5 p0305 code rockers were bad replaced with new still misfiring.. new plugs injectors and battery coils are good switched them all around still p0305 I'm stumped

Ive seen something like this before.......it was due to a weak fuel pump about to go out......the weight of the gas in the tank helps push the fluid through.....get down to half a tank and you don't have that weight of all that liquid anymore. if the pump is weak it wont be able to push it by itself. also maybe check fuel filter. you can test this with a fuel pressure gauge.

i have a 2.7 and the computer said #4 was misfiring we already changed all the plugs then i changed #4 coil and it is still running rough, would you happen to know what else to check?
if youre still getting a misfire after replacing the coil, and the plug doesnt look to be broken or fouled, the next logical step would be to replace the injector.
yea we are going to try switching the injector with another one to see if the misfire moves to another cylinder.if it moves i will just buy another injector.
I switched coil #4 and also unplugged the coils as you did and i still have the vibration even with a brand new coil. When i disconnect it , it also doesn’t do anything ... what do u suggest
I am a little confused. Do you have a cylinder number 6 misfire or a cylinder number 4 misfire. if replacing the coil does not fix the issue then I suggest checking the fuel injector.
Matt. I have a 2009 Charger with 2.7L. I did a tune up on it about 2 months ago which solved a P0303 code as the spark plugs were all worn out. I put it all back togther, torqued the plenum to 100 inch lbs and car worked great. Now Im getting a P0301 code. I smoke tested the intake which showed no leaking. Could this just be a coincidence that the #1 coil went out?

What if your 300 wont even start up and run... Mine wont turn over or crank at all... I have a flashing engine light that goes to solid after key is turned to on position... Also I have the red thunder bolt light on for a lil while after turning the key. After key is turned for a while that bolt light goes off... Cant anyone help me out with that??????

That's an electrical problem also could be a relay fuse that needs to be replaced, also check your battery, or it could be a bad starter. Alternators something else you could look at! Then I will check check your spark plugs and coils!
I have a 2006 charger with 2.7 where my mileage used to show it now shows - 4-06 anybody know what this code is i went and had it scanned at autozone they said they didnt know any help would be awsome thank you
if you have spark, and fuel but still have a misfire check compression. do you know if you are producing spark have you tested it with a inline tester?
C. R. 0304 is the 4th cylinder. Look up a diagram for fireing order for it online to identify 4th cylinder. If you can't find one let me know and ill email you one.
Btw, if the 2.7 is not rebuilt PROPERLY, (including replacing water pump and timing chain which are not typically included in a rebuild), it WILL blow again. Ask me how I know.
there are few different things you will want to do. you start by pulling plug connector to coils. what ever coils do not equal a change in the engine is more than likely were your misfire is. also in line spark test and compression test can further help diagnose this. how many miles on the car? most common for random misfire is bad coils.
Matt Shaughnessy the truck is a 5.7l hemi 2013 ram with 103xxx Miles it threw a rod through the block last summer so we did an engine swap. The new engine ended up having blown head gaskets so we replaced those the new engine has 43xxx Miles but I was getting crankshaft position malfunction code, still am after replacing the sensor along with the camshaft sensor. I figured the plugs were possibly fouled out so I'm replacing those today along with new coils as well.

yeah try that first. might wanna do a compression test to check valves.does it rattle at all when you start it up or anything like that?

Po420 is either left or right bank but po420 means catalyst converter

Sounds like you are having a oil deliver issues. The ticking sound could be a dry lifter not getting propper oil

What if you have replaced the load coil and the spark plug and it’s still misfiring?
Then its more than likely a mechanical failure. Try compression testing that cylinder.
What if your 300 wont even start up and run... Mine wont turn over or crank at all... I have a flashing engine light that goes to solid after key is turned to on position... Also I have the red thunder bolt light on for a lil while after turning the key. After key is turned for a while that bolt light goes off... Cant anyone help me out with that??????

That's an electrical problem also could be a relay fuse that needs to be replaced, also check your battery, or it could be a bad starter. Alternators something else you could look at! Then I will check check your spark plugs and coils!

I have a misfire on #6 I replaced to coil and spark plugs and there's gas where the valve is just ain't burning it
if you have spark, and fuel but still have a misfire check compression. do you know if you are producing spark have you tested it with a inline tester?

I took it to a shop to have it hooked up to computer and they said something bout a vacuum leak
common on this vehicle. do you know what codes was pulled?
Smoke test the intake by injecting smoke into the vacuum line in back of the manifold and blocking off the throttle body.
Or could been bad Cylinder

Find the misfire.....it could be due to a bad intake gasket,bad coils,bad spark plugs, or bad timing.
0304 cylinder is the one in the middle right
C. R. 0304 is the 4th cylinder. Look up a diagram for fireing order for it online to identify 4th cylinder. If you can't find one let me know and ill email you one.
Matt Shaughnessy I had the 0304 code so I unplugged the 4th cylinder and connected it again and now I get the 0300 code .
when you unlpugged the coil did the engine change how it ran at all??

prior to unplugging it. was the engine running rough when you pulled the 0304 code?
Btw, if the 2.7 is not rebuilt PROPERLY, (including replacing water pump and timing chain which are not typically included in a rebuild), it WILL blow again. Ask me how I know.
What if it was a random misfire code?
there are few different things you will want to do. you start by pulling plug connector to coils. what ever coils do not equal a change in the engine is more than likely were your misfire is. also in line spark test and compression test can further help diagnose this. how many miles on the car? most common for random misfire is bad coils.
Matt Shaughnessy the truck is a 5.7l hemi 2013 ram with 103xxx Miles it threw a rod through the block last summer so we did an engine swap. The new engine ended up having blown head gaskets so we replaced those the new engine has 43xxx Miles but I was getting crankshaft position malfunction code, still am after replacing the sensor along with the camshaft sensor. I figured the plugs were possibly fouled out so I'm replacing those today along with new coils as well.
