  • In this tier list video I will tell you which Scottish Premiership crests I like & which I don't. Remember... it's just a bit of fun!
The clubs that make up this season's Scottish Premiership are:
    - Aberdeen
    - Celtic
    - Dundee
    - Dundee United
    - Heart of Midlothian
    - Hibs
    - Livingston
    - Motherwell
    - Rangers
    - Ross County
    - St Johnstone
    - St Mirren
Do you think Rangers should be higher? Am I being too harsh on St Johnstone & Livingstone? Do Celtic have an elite badge? Comment below!!!

      Alan Shields
      Hamilton
      South Lanarkshire
      Scotland
      Elete
Hibernian , Hearts , Saint Mirren
      Pretty Good Dundee United Rangers
      , Celtic
      Needs Improvement
      Ross County , Motherwell ,
      Saint Johnstone
      Pish
      Aberdeen , Dundee , Livingston
Sam what you sead in terms of
Saint Johnstone's club crest looking like a blind drunk man had drawn it is pritty offensive to be honest with you I think you could of made your point in a much better manner.
The Hibernian Crest is one of the very best in World Football in my view only missing out on top spot for be because I personally prefer The
      Locamotiv Moscow crest more.
In terms of The Saint Mirren Crest I would say as someone that grow up locally there is not to much scope to change the current crest without it looking terrible Saint Mirren have had worse in the past the only thing you could myb do is put the outline in black of The Saint Mirren Satue that is near Saint Mirren Cathedral in the town on the shirts as a crest but for me I would just keep it as is.
In terms of Celtic they would be better useing The Celtic Cross as they did in there centenary season to represent both The Republic of Ireland & Scotland.
The Dundee United crest I do agree needs slightly updated but I still think it's one of the better crests in Scottish football.
Saint Johnstone should just get rid of the Middle part of the crest as it's impossible to make out from any distance away the kestrel as I believe the bird is I would keep as is just make it yellow not gold.
Hearts have had variations of the current logo I remember it looking slightly different in 1997 I think it was updated in 1998 but looks spot on to me but it dose nothing for me esteticly at all.
Aberdeen have a terrible crest if it did not say Aberdeen on it you would not know it was an Aberdeen F.C crest it day zero about the city or club it's self.
Dundee I would say needs updated I just dont know how though it could be done.
Livingston have a fairly dull crest nothing to say Livingston or
West Lothian about it other than text.
Motherwell's crest could do without the football in the centre other than that keep it as it is.
I dont see Rangers changing there crests drastically any time in my life time
I fo think they need a crest that pays more homage to there roots have always thought that.
Ross County need to drastically simplify there crest just use the Stags head in this day in age.
I honestly think German clubs crests are buy far the worst in would football.
      Keep Safe Sam.
Vlog was right up my alley can you do the same with The English Championship clubs next.

Scottish football is better than the super league etc for the fact it isn’t selling out and being all modern for the sake of it. Long live Scottish football!!

I am not just saying this because I support Aberdeen, but your badge is not great. Proof, you've used an edited version of it yourself! I see it's for a trust, but it's already better than the main badge. The colours of it look very early 90's, but not in an interesting retro way, just messy and dated (a bit like the city - jokes -). But no, you do need something smoother and simpler, like he said in the video the Aberdeen badge is a good example of effective simplicity.

Hibs is pretty unique. It represents the club really well with the ship, Castle, Harp and a ball which sums up everything about the club. It's class. Hearts just edges it though.

I think badges have been oversimplified to be honest - dumbed down, I might even say, and as harsh as that sounds I do believe it to be true. It's as if no effort whatsoever goes into the more modern designs, and if you think about all the clubs that seem to follow exactly the same blueprint (circular, name of club along the top and bottom, year they were formed on either side, some emblem or another in the middle, that one) they're just boring. I defy you to tell me the more recent crests of - say - Cheltenham Town or Accrington Stanley are better than the ones they replaced; even though they're more modern, the craftsmanship is just not there.

It's great to hear an outside perspective, though obviously I'm not going to agree with all of your choices -
Ross County's badge is heading towards pish imho - it's best described as dull.
That said, you're bang on about the Jam Tarts badge - I'm no fan of the club, but it is a belter of a design.
It'd be good if the people who run St Johnstone took heed - it is a shocker, and the people of "Purth" deserve better.
Scone Palace is a great building - could incorporate that.
Maybe even have the Silvery Tay highlighted.

It would have been good if you also showed us the previous badges of the clubs too. Good vid though, can't say I could disagree with anything.

I do believe that modernising isn't always better. Some modernised badges are great but some are terrible. And i also agree with some others who've reacted here that badges showing the heritage can also be great. It all has everything to do with personal opinions and preferences.
From a marketing standpoint i understand the need to simplify the badges so that you can more easily print it on just about anything you want. But let's just say that newer isn't always better, for instance i think the new Juventus badge is terrible, and i know that just about every Ajax fan hates the newer badge and would prefer to get the old one back.
I am not a professional badge creator but i sometimes dabble with photoshop just for the fun of it, and i have experimented with the St. Johnstone badge to try and modernise it a bit but still using al the old elements however i don't know how to show it to you in this comment.
I love your video's mate, keep up the good work!
I myself am an FC Utrecht fan so if you ever do another video with them in it or if you do a video about them i will definetely want to see that.

Footy Adventures, Lincoln City Are A Very Good Team In league 1 with a small but good stadium, In 2016-17 Lincoln City Went On a Great Run In The Fa Cup When They we’re in the Non league and they went To the quarter finals The furthest a non league Club Has Made It Since world war 1. Also There Stadium capacity is 10,000 (I think) And They Nearly went to Championship But they got knocked out in the playoff final.

maybe you should ask a motherwell historian about the badge and how it came about.. the steel works on the bottom was a symbol from the ravenscraig steel works that later, maggie thatcher shut down, destroyed a town!! have a look into it first mate

Love your work Sam - but can I point out that St John's The Baptist is a church, rather than a "religion". It is the ancient church, that is the reference point for St Johnstone's name.

Saints are named for the town. Not the church. St johns town or st Johns Toun.

Re your comments on Dundee United's badge needing a refresh... There are so many fans out there now with design skills that clubs could put it out as a competition modernise their badges... Or look on Behance, there are loads of already redesigned badges for loads of different footy teams - I don't think there's any excuses for top tier teams having poor badges these days.

I'm sorry but I respected everything you had to say about the badges until Ross County. Their badge is an abomination. Why is "Ross" straight but "County" is wiggly? The font is terrible, and that red bar at the top is just begging for a year of establishment or some kind of detail at least

  • @toph8298

I’m a United fan and the crest really gets on my nerves. It’s not a bad badge but needs modernised. The club themselves don’t seem to know what the official colour shade is or how big the name and diamonds should be given it frequently changes on almost all correspondence.
I believe the badge was a rushed effort as the former crest was a shield and thus outlawed along with a number of other teams due to Scotland’s bizarre heraldry laws. I couldn’t even tell you what the diamonds are supposed to represent?.
