- If you own a Jeep Rubicon you already have low gears in your transfer case, but if you own a Sport model, (like I do) then your low range gear leaves a little to be desired. So on this episode I'm swapping in an Atlas transfer case for lower gears, and stronger parts, plus the ability to perform a front dig. Stay tuned for a follow up video where I tell you how the Atlas has been working.
to order your own atlas go here:

and don't forget to call Tom Woods for your drive shafts:

I'm stoked you're getting into a routine, Fred! Where's the merch store? ;)
I love my atlas 4-speed transfer case in my 2000 TJ!
How much did the transfer case cost Atlas?
@@user-gu7pp5eb8p I custom ordered it through their website a little over 2 years ago. The wait time ended up being 150 days. The transfer case and shifter kit cost $3500. The local mechanic charged $2500, which included a lot of custom work to get it to fit. This includes a new rear drive shaft and modifying the skid plate.
That was worth the watch and learning. The details were great, shows that you know what you're doing.
I'm waiting on my rear driveshaft for my 2dJL rubi atlas swap.
I wired the lockers into the switchpro so I can control them separately and not freak the computer out.
Thanks for the upload, we'll done
There’s a little lever on the spring of the parking brake handle that you pull with a long pick that will release the tension on the parking brake and the handle will come up to more of a 90 degree angle that allows the removal of the center console
I used to use MT90 in an old VW transaxle. Good stuff! 👍
Glad to find you again! Liked, subscribed, shared on other platforms.
I love how jeep makes it so you can put the windows down even when the doors are off!
Great stuff fRED. Learned a lot.
I can’t believe how clean everything is. Looks like you are working on a brand new vehicle!! And thanks for the great info about the transfer case!
Thanks Fred, I dig this video.
Fred, your videos are also full of great information.
Love ur vids Fred thank u 🇨🇦
Love it, Fred.
That was a cool swap , I'm suprized you can do this with no help !
Great video!!
Now this is something I wanted to see
I just got a JT Rubicon. It has the Rock Trac MP3022 "Full Time" transfer case. I didn't even know there was such a thing. I guess a few people with the 392 Wranglers have burned the full-time transfer case up. I am very interested in your Atlas transfer case install in case I might need to go that route one day. Thanks for making this informative video.
i actually sold my stock tcase to a buddy with a 392 so he could have 2wd as an option.
@@4xFredWilliamsI think the Tazer JL lets you do the 2 wheel option on the 392. A lot cheaper and less work.
@@4xFredWilliamsisn’t the bolt pattern and spline different for the 392? I have a 392 and would love to swap in a 241 but didn’t think it would mate up. Awesome vid!
🔥🔥🔥 Awesome video!! 🇺🇸💯
i need an atlas, wanna sponsor me , Fred? LOL great job as always.
Wow! Your hair grew out super quick! Must have seen a Yeti.
Great video. I was stoked to see a good instructional video on the Atlas intall on a JL. I just got mine delivered to me last week. So what measures did you take to remove that difficult bolt on the stock transfer case? I have the Rubicon case so I'm not sure if I will run into the same issue.
A lot of work. But you got it in there. Nice CZcams video
"this last one will make you punch your grandma". LOL 😂
Dude!!! Learned about front digs in the 80's!! Buddy would wait untold you get stuck in a tank trap!!! Come up to you , pulls he's hand brake and front dig with he's super swappers!!! Jerk!!! Lol!!!✌️
Does that ZF cooler share the radiator coolant? In Oz in our Ford Falcons with 6 speed ZF's very common to swap it our for a dedicated trans cooler to avoid potentially milkshaking the trans.
thats probably not a bad idea
Bad ass!!!
I saw a jeep on a trailer in Trail maters last video which looked like your dually trailer under the jeep...
18:58 Nope! 2-door with Manual window for me, too, Fred.
Nice work! Are you going to delete that second battery?!?
Hi Fred I'm from Australia and I want to by that hat, but can't get it anywhere, whats the go with getting one thanks Borbo
“Next step, clean out all this sh…ifter stuff right here” not what I thought you were going to say.
Any concerns with the added weight of the atlas on the back of the transmission?
Can that Tcase handle 1500lbs of torque from a Cummins?
Would a factory rubicon transfer case bolt up to the sport wrangler instead of going atlas?
yes, but used rubicon cases seem to hold their value and I wanted to try this route instead.
I thought oh no a bolt is making Fred mad! You never hear Fred get mad. Maybe a little discusted but not mad. It must be one really bad bolt to work with.
Would you consider that spud shaft the weak link in this setup?
not really, they are pretty commonly used and pretty strong. i want traction to be the weak link.
@@4xFredWilliams thanks for the response! I like that mentality haha
0:57 😂😂😂 poor grandma
I sure miss D.E.D
What happened to the farm jeep
}more wheeling videos 🎉 please
Taking the seats might have made it easier
Was waiting for him to pull a seat, ida pulled the pass but whatever
looks to me like they could have saved about 3 inches in length with a bit od engineering
Isn't Tubesock becoming increasingly jealous??
Already haz atlas. 🤷♂️
@@Beat98TJ And everything else done to Newbsock???
@@jshulch everything he’s done to noob sock is already done to tube.
Engine swap
Transfer case swap
Axle swap
Etc.
i dont think id go auto in tube sock. but putting the jeep diesel in newb would be kinda cool
So much hair!
Just delete the stop/start battery tbh. It's going to fail every 3 years anyway.
Must be nice. Dumb name. Who names a car?
i was going to name it Jeff….but that name was taken ;)
