To order a genuine one without the printing on the DVD for £12 inc P/P ring 07738 585544. As all 170 original copies of the DVD are still with me, Malcolm Dent waiting payment, I have no idea where this material could have come from, as so far I have only sent out one preview with ny details on the bottom, so I would check with Danny, as these copies are of bad quality and do not reflect my DVD as seen on You tube, so check your copy. Danny Cooper New Forest Drive 2012 illustrates the annual horse drawn vehicle trek across the New Forest in Hampshire by around 200 individual traps, buggy's and carriages attended by enthusiasts from Cornwall to the Black Country, filmed by Malcolm Dent of MDDM.

    I remember going there three years on the spin with my grand parents & lots of driving people when I was a kid, spent the year getting the horses in shape for the 10 mile a day drives, memories I will never forget.

    Wow. That looks like great fun. I'm sure everyone had a wonderful day. So many different breeds and different carts. The horses all looked well cared for.

      Good drink? I Thought some of these people looked soused, driving horses drunk is a no no,too. Horse cart can have even worse accidents than cars.

    Looks like fun! A little heavy handed on the horses though. Loose lines and less whip/rein popping would make this better. I understand sometimes a horse needs a little pop on the rump every now and again, but not that often. Great video though. A blissful drive through a very scenic route. Wish we had something like this here.

      Rein popping isn't hurtful if it'ts done by someone who knows what their doing, they do it with out jerking the bit.

    wauw. Why don't they organize stuff like this around here. We have a huge forest/reservoir type place 30km wide it's beautiful to ride in. Sadly we never see any other drivers around. We do see riders every now an then. But wauw wouldn't that be amazing with such a big group.

      Horses with overcheck reins never get a break, the overcheck bit is always buckled to the harness to pull their heads up to look fancy and it's very hard on their neck muscles. If People want a fancy high headed horse why don't they buy one instead of buying a cheap horse at an auction and trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

      @MsVanorak Před 2 lety

      yes - that's what i thought too. they used to have an organised Sunday p.m. drive where i used to live and it had a sense of occasion and they were people who did driving classes at County Shows so they would be dressed up according to their set up - landeau's and bowler hats for the high stepping welsh cobs and flat caps and waistcoats for the pony carts etc. Not a Vanner horse or Adidas 'trackies' to be found. And certainly not a fat bloke astride a horse in water deep enough to drown it if it slips.

    Don't the ponies get really tired ? It seems to me that a gentle gallop would be easier on them than that fast trot. But of course I have no idea really. Do the ponies enjoy it? And how would you know ? Just curious

    • @Saartje05
      @Saartje05 Před 6 lety +2

      If they would be handled in a right way they would enjoy it, but this video shows abuse all over. It's horrible to look at.

    • @elaineluikart5459

      Troting us much easier than galloping and if the load isn't too much the momentum of the load helps.

      Susan Flowers the pony’s enjoy it and most of the drives a gentle jog and the horses are mostly all fit and we do cool them off in the river and rest them along the way so it’s not too hard

  • @thewr0ngchild

    WHY have the grand national, which kills horses and breaks their bones, when you can have this, horses doing what they love. Have you ever seen a pulling horse getting hitched up to the cart? They are scraping the ground before it is even time for off! They love it, the people love it, and they are taken care of without being injured then shot as they can't make ££££££££ anymore!

  • @lizmasters4067
    @lizmasters4067 Před 7 lety +6

    So many of those people were too hard on the horses, and nearly all the horses were too small for the load they had to pull and a lot looked strained.

      @marilynnoakes1429 Před 7 lety +2

    • @chas5131
      @chas5131 Před 6 lety

      The horses are not carrying the people. A pony can pull three times its weight. A very small pony weighs 200 pounds.

    • @elaineluikart5459
      @elaineluikart5459 Před 5 lety

      @@WyrdHag most of those with racing sulkies had their bearing rein pulled up as tight as possible. When the horses are twisting their necks,thrashing their heads, and foaming at the mouth the bearing rein is to tight. When horses have their heads way up they cant even see where they are going. They cant swallow if the bit is up in the back of their mouth, they choke on their own saliva. Open your mouth and try to swallow, air ways are open when the mouth is open. We can ban bearing reins just like laws helped Tennessee Walkers.

      @Saartje05 Před 6 lety +1

      No, they're not. Proper horsemen don't drive like that. The fact you call them proper says enough. I'm in the organisation of driving competitions and all of them would have been disqualified. These people just fool around and damage the horses. Nothing to do with horsemanship. And please learn how to write.
