Jian is every parents dream. Despite being treated like a criminal, he doesn't hate his youngre brother and even smiled and clapped for him while he was acting cute. Seon on the other hand is just a baby but knows he has complete monopoly over his father and tried to cut the attention away from Jian. The father is an immature, idiotic man who is ruining 2 completely fine children's personalities. Jian is so anxious, i fell so sad watching him cry so hard. Father should be ashamed. Even if children are notorious, parents still love them. Imagine not loving an angel of a child like Jian and even having the guts to accept it on national television. I think he needs to grow up already, he fathered 2 kids but has no right to ruin their lives. Even if he starts treating Jian better, he'd do it out of shame and guilt. If i was the mother, i'd take Jian and divorce him ..

    • @ivy_tae

You're not overthinking it. He totally could. The father is designing him to manipulate. He's also a victim of bad parenting. I could totally see the younger one growing up being an entitled brat who has mastered manipulation. Its a good thing they came here to be honest

Really sick of Korean men treating others like shit and then using excuses like "I'm not that affectionate" or "I don't know how to express myself" to cover up their blunders. The dads in both first and third concerns aren't even ashamed or embarrassed of their actions. I have been watching this programme for almost 4 years and this is the first time I'm ranting in the comments section.

For the first concern, I got so worked up. I hate it the mostwhen elders favour or compare children. It's just mentally exhausting forthe victim. Jian is such a bright kid and he looks very cute and handsome, he seems to have good manners too (The harassing part however, may be the result of the way his father treats him). Honestly, if his father wouldn't change, can we really say that he has a father? Sigh. Plus, if this keeps up, as Minsang said, they'd be meeting in the show again because of how distant the two children are. His excuse is also unacceptable. Please take your time with your family preciously. I just- wow.

    • @riayaraizel2214
      @riayaraizel2214 Před 5 lety +21

@@emmachou6301 I've noticed that it's actually not uncommon for the grandparents to take care of the grandchildren when the parents separate and I'm still wondering why. Single parents are perfectly capable of raising their children on their own (or even setting up a system where the kid sees one parent one week and the other the following) and grandparents can still help without being the only ones to raise the kids (this is how both my mom and I were raised). Then again that's just my opinion so maybe it's just the cultural differences between where we live and Korea. I personally think that the parents should still care for the child even if they are separated.

    Third concern:
There is one thing I absolutely hate about parents. You could be telling them about something that is really upsetting and they always bring up things from the past to belittle you or tell you to pray when you need them to comfort you. Depression is no joke. People should realise that the brightest light can lose a lot of its energy and can one day turn dull. They need to be there for her and should be quite careful with what they say. I'm saying this because I've dealt with this since I was like 9 and my words are still not taken seriously. This is a major concern. And also, you don't have to go through the most traumatizing even to bhave depression, it could start from having insecurities which could lead to low self-esteem and self hate. Be aware of those around you and don't assume one is happy because of their smile. The brightest smiles hold the biggest pain.

      I'm late but....
My family doesn't believe in mental illness. They think it's a result of substance abuse or over thinking. They believe that you can control it.
The thing is, I am depressed. Since I am an adopted child, I have been discrimimated a lot and until now, I have little value in my family's eyes. I wanted to get help desperately that I found a job to pay for a check up but my adoptive siblings wanted to be there. When the doctor told them that I was under so much stress, they laughed at me and told me there's nothing to be stressed and depressed about. they made me quit my job and now I live with them full time. I am still depressed but I don't have the chance to get the help I need. I try to cheer up by myself. And having faced the life that I've lived so far, I trully wholeheartedly hope that this young girl gets the help and support she needs... because it's hard to just fucking live with it.

My heart hurts for Jian. He's such a precious, handsome and charming boy. He deserves all the love. To think that he has so much sadness behind that cheerful smile of his is heartbreaking. I just wanna hug him and give him all my love! I really hate it when a family shows favoritism towards one child. Growing up in such an environment can mentally and emotionally affect a child. If the father doesn't change his ways, either Jian will grow up despising his dad and his younger brother or the younger brother will think he's superior than his older brother and the family will eventually fall apart. They're such a beautiful family and I really hope and wish the best for them, especially for Jian!

Honestly, I've watched this show for a few years now and I've never been this angry with anyone as much as I am now. Seriously, the first concern broke my heart. The father wasn't even paying attention when his 9-year-old son was crying. I don't care how tired, jealous or mentally ill you are, don't do this to your child. When Sunmi said that she wanted to raise the child I was honestly agreeing with her on a spiritual level. It's just so sad and frustrating to witness a child growing up in such a household. And then the father goes on to say that boys should grow up in strict environments in order to grow into nice people. Well, let me tell you something mister. Your child will definitely not grow up fine if you run around saying that you don't love him.
And honestly, Jian is literally the epitome of a dream child. Come on, he's being treated like some criminal. Yet still he smiles, and is so pure. The boy is handsome, nice and even shows a set of nice manners. But seriously, this won't continue until the end. One day he'll get tired of the treatment he gets and that's when the father is going to regret his actions. But then it wouldn't even matter, cause it would be too late to realise that.

She literally took care of them with no support from anyone else and never complained even with so many hardships. One thing I really do not understand is that even if the parents got divorced why did you ask your parent to take care of your child. They are yours and you should have taken responsibilities for your actions. Either one of the parents should have taken them in.

I think that there is not ONE episode of hello counselor I haven't watched. I was so happy to see JRen here, but the first concern made me forget about everything. What kind of father would do that to their children. He's not even doing anything great to his younger son. There was not even shame in his face. Not even after getting the reactions from everyone in the show, specifically Jians. It's so disgusting. He is messing both of the kids life's up. Jian started showing those behaviors at school and the father doesn't even get that it's all his fault. Jian is such a cute kid. Taking care of his younger brother and not getting angry at him. I would divorce the father right away before he breaks my kids mental health. Or at least I would take the whole family to family therapy.

30:13 "I'll be a good boy too" Oh my god I can't stop my tears...no child deserves to be brought up like this, especially one as small and innocent like Jian. The moment his father said he wasn't affectionate, I got so mad I almost broke my computer screen- I hate when people use such ridiculous excuses to explain their own wrong doings instead of owning up. Stop being such a hypocrite, if you can be affectionate to the younger son, why can't you be just as affectionate to Jian?

Do they not know they will need their children's mercy when they are old.

While I was definitely crying over the grandmother's story (who am I kidding, I was crying the whole time) I think the emotional abuse that Jian was suffering from was a much bigger concern. Even if his dad treats him better moving forward, the scars on his heart are already there and their affect can already be seen in his behavior. The fact that so many people were accepting or dismissive towards that is concern. A trend that I've seen throughout this show is that the Korean culture seems to be very lenient on abusive husbands and fathers. Good old patriarchy I guess
