yes, i know gibdo and redead are not the same bruh. I never said they were anywhere in this video 😂
they are the same enemy type anyways tho so who cares 💀
Gibdo are basically just wrapped up redeads in oot and mm
Gibdos were wrapped, mummified ReDeads in OoT.
These.....disappointments....are NOT Gibdos. I dont even know wtf to call them but "a massive letdown"
These things could've been SO much scarier. Guess thats why Tears got a friggin E10 rating🤦♂️
Didn't wanna scare da wittle kiddies
You showed a video of a redead in the corner
You literally did tho
@@frederickglass1583 ever think about the fact you yourself are not a 10 year old anymore?
Redeads don’t scare me nearly as much as they use to. I still thought Gibdo’s were cool and a little scary, but only as much as I’d say Redeads are to me.
Wanna talk actual scary enemies, we look at gloom hands. Those things genuinely terrified me.
Now imagine if they didn’t play the goofy battle music for normal enemies and instead played something more sinister…THAT would have been cool.
real
Rinky dinky battle theme
You are so right about that. It should be like how freaky it gets fighting gloom hands
And imagine if they would have continued to scream, to paralize and to suck your hearts
They are a pushover, though. My tank can turn them into bbq in a few cannon shots while they just stand around idle like the npcs they are.
I do like the reinvention of the Gibdo. While not as scary as the Redeads nor keeping the paralysis mechanic, they've evolved from mummy reskins to super weird and unique moth zombies
they look more like redeads than they do gibdos. imo gibdos should look like they do in majoras mask
And you better keep an eye on them because if you're not careful, they will charge at you in all fours and they're really fast that way.
@@DacianSolaris bruh
Imo they arent exactly exciting to fight, they are creepy, and i love the ALttP throwback for the monster/boss combo
Imma be that guy. Redeads are zombie reskins of Gibdos. Gibdos came first.
While I would’ve preferred redeads came back with their paralyzing scream, the gibdos in this game were pretty cool. The defending gerudo town from the gibdos quest was a highlight of the game imo imo
oooo i haven’t done that yet can’t wait lowkey
It was like playing age of calamity
I really love the lightning temple tbh
I loved that part. In my play through, Riju was one hit away from dying cuz I was busy testing out different lightning weapon fuses. And her bodyguard was knocked-out cold by the stairs. Oops 😅
Wish I could re do the Gerudo battles. Some of the coolest main quest content to be frank
Holy shit lol, the edited scream with the Gibdo opening its ''mouth'' made me think they actually made that sound in game and somehow I straight up missed it
lmaooo
imo the game sound is a slight bit creepier since theit movement is very twitchy and labored it feels more fitting
I thought it was actually there as well
A very convincing sound.
I wish each region had their own enemies like the Gerudo.
Instead of the game having Aerocudas, the Hebra region could’ve had Aeralfos.
The Eldin region could’ve had Dodongos (maybe they’re covered in the marbled rocks), and Lanayru could’ve had something like Gyorgs but they’re sludge monsters.
The Gibdo’s gave The Lightning Temple a unique identity, so I wish that each temple had their own region specific enemies.
Yeah. As someone who did the Gerudo region first, I was a bit sad to see the other regions not having unique enemies (and more big battles)
It seems they replaced the dodongos with the frox except they don't breath fire but work kinda like king dodongos
I miss how the other Zelda games had such a variety of monsters to fight, rewatched OOT and MM gameplay on youtube and reminded just how many more there was and how much fun it was. Most of the time. And still less annoying then the Guardians.
I agree with this. As much as I loved the new variety of enemies, I still felt like the game was lacking on the regions and temples. Like each temple is basically the same, reach 4 or 5 different locks before the boss. I sort of miss each temple having their own uniqueness
Yeah
The Gerudo stuff was by far the best.
The Rito stuff was okay, the Goron stuff was good but the Fire Temple felt... not great in a hard to pin down way, and the Zora stuff just felt kinda phoned in.
I did them in Goron > Zora > Gerudo > Rito order, so it wasn't even like I got tired of them as I kept going.
The Fire Temple is hard to pin down, probably because it was my first exposure to a dungeon, but... I feel like it wasn't designed well with the abilities you have.
The Lightning and Wind temples feel tightly designed, and the Water Temple is made with the intent that you're just kinda gonna fly over to the different areas at some point.
The Fire Temple... FELT like it was designed with moving around the temple being part of the focus, but you can just kinda goblin your way everywhere, and basically all the locks I kinda just got to and the entire thing felt like a dungeon being broken, not solved.
Not broken in the "haha I am a genius" way, but in the "I have realized that I am better served by ignoring what the dungeon wants me to do, it is easier to bypass this than it is to engage with it" way
Walking into gerudo town empty like this and with these gibdos was legit creepy and I LOVED IT! It really gave me OOT vibes like how castle town was ruined and full of redeads. This and pretty much the whole gerudo story part of the game and the lightning temple is Amazing! The lightning temple also gave me so many oot and wind waker vibes bring back the mirrors.
can’t wait to see the lighting temple i still haven’t been there yet lmao
@@riqoz Best dungeon in the game tbh
Oot, mm and WW vibes. The gerudo section is peak Zelda
Agreed. I love having some creepy elements in my Zelda. The combination of the music, the haze, the gibdos, and the mystery of where everyone was… it was a really cool vibe coming into Gerudo Town.
Now imagine if they release a DLC that has blue versions of these enemies... and are actually ReDeads that can freeze you with their scream! They'd probably just swipe at you like the Gibdos do if they get close, but it would certainly provide additional nightmare fuel!
If they add redead they better be their own enemies rather than a Gibdo reskin.
It wouldn't make sense to reskin Gibdos into ReDeads, since the Gibdos in this game aren't undead
@@BreadBupExcept they are? Singe you can burn away their skin and they're still alive? So yes, they're 100% undead
@@kelmirosue3251 you can burn other enemies and they still live though? And their skin regenerates anyways
@@BreadBup It's not the same. With Gibdo's they can literally walk around as a skeleton when you burn their skin away. The only other enemy that can walk around as skeletons are the Stal family which are 100% undead. Plus Gibdo's skin acts more as literal armor more then anything else
Can you imagine if they add master mode that they scream and paralyze you?
it would be sick ngl
Wind Waker Redeads were the scariest. I still get chills to this day. 😬
When I first encountered gibdos in TotK, I was like “holy shit! Redeads are in this game?!” and they brought up childhood memories of being absolutely terrified. They aren’t the scariest iteration of the enemy but they were creepy as they didn’t really fit the style of botw.
Gibdos are a different type of enemy entirely and they've actually been in more games than redeads. If they ever add redeads to totk with dlc they will likely be quite different than these gibdos
they both are undead enemy types for the most part bruh who cares 😂
@Riqoz they're usually pretty similar, hell they're just reskins of each other in some games, but they are distinct in both design and (usually) function. Gibdos historically have been wrapped in cloth like a mummy while redeads are bare flesh and always have the scream. Visually these new gibdos are closer to redeads, but the devs called them gibdos for a reason which is likely their lack of scream. I made the distinction because deku implied they were an iteration of redeads, but because they're not there's still a chance they'll add redeads proper via dlc
Despite my heavy lack of Zelda knowledge, I thought they were Redeads until I took a photo of them, realising that they are Gibdos, another zombie-like enemy from the series.
@@Honorablepleb you forgot 2 things which gibdos have that redeads historically do not:
Extremely high armor (ie like how every we do in this game does 1 damage to them)
And a weakness to fire (ie like how the gibdos in totk are weak to elements)
Redeads do not have these characteristics and instead have the scream and paralyzing gaze
Honestly these new Gibdos are scarier to me, but in a different way. Instead of “AHHH ITS SCREAMING AND GRABBING ME” it’s
“Wait, aren’t Gibdo’s humans or corpses turned into mummies? Why do they have mandibles?”
“Holy shit those are moth wings?!”
“WHY IS THE QUEEN SO BIG?! What did Ganondorf do to all those corpses?!”
I don’t think it’s ever confirmed that the Gibdos _are_ corpses, and they’re more likely some sort of Moth/Cicada-like insectoid race that happen to resemble corpses, but they’re still kinda creepy nonetheless.
Although, when we find Gibdos around graves and cemeteries such as the one in the depths below the Arbiter’s Grounds, the graves are strangely empty…
@@ianheine4894 I’m just operating on the logic of the past games. Otherwise, they could’ve just called the Gibdos… not Gibdos.
Screaming and grabbing is more a redead thing
Gibdos are more high armor and weak to fire sort of enemy
God this was a creepy creatute. First time I met them, I did not even know their gimmick of being nigh invincible before elemental attacks, I just remembered their paralyzing screech from OoT and immediately resorted to fire to beat their asses.
I just wish they had kept the blood curdling scream. That was the biggest reason why they were creepy in the first place. Imagine, you're walking in the desert and suddenly you stop moving and hold your head in pain as gibdos walk out of the storm, surrounding you!
My jaw dropped in both fear and excitement when I found out these guys came back. Also they're Gibdos.
i know they are gibdos i put it in the thumbnail 💀
@@riqoz Ok
🤡
@@riqoz then why did you edit a redead scream over it and title the video "the best zelda enemy is back" when you're clearly not talking about a gibdo
@@creambrained exactly
I was caught completely off guard when I first entered Gerudo Town. Both the atmosphere and the Gibdos wandering the streets felt like some kind of zombie apocalypse, especially with how durable they are.
Kinda glad that these guys don’t shriek, was traumatized in Wind Waker during the Earth Temple when I was younger ;w;
Adding on to it is the one dude on the rooftop that actually does think they are zombie Gerudo.
@@YourCrazyDolphin they might as well be, they were trying to swarm him at one point while I was trying to loot- I mean explore “:^)
Heck, there’s some sort of graveyard in the Depths around where Gerudo Town that pretty much confirms that they’re undead. Same thing with some sort of prison somewhere too
GIBDOS ARE NOT REDEADS. Gibdos are more mummy like.
i never said they were lmao
What are you going on about bro
They are well aware 😭 it's in the thumbnail
It's funny because the Gibdos in OoT and MM are nearly identical to Redeads.
I first stumbled upon these guys in the depths.. that atmosphere made it a 100% more scary! Had no idea how to deal with them so I burnt through my entire stash of bombs
bro i think i wouldve just closed the game if i met them down there first
Same! I was so caught off guard when I found them down there, made the depths feel even more ominous
When I was a kid, playing Ocarina of Time, the redeads scared the crap out of me (and the floating ceiling hands). When that scream came out, I got goose bumps and I travelled back in time.
0:04 I do this all the time, forget a rockets on my shield, then weeeeee.
I encountered a moth gibdo first in the sandstorm on the way to Gerudo town. I tried a few weapons before dispatching it with a fire arrow headshot… just in time to see a few normal ones ambling through the haze toward me.
The Gerudo area is one of my favorite story segments so far. Defending the town and getting surprised by the queen before the temple were such fun moments.
When I first encountered one, I was hoping it was gonna paralyze me like they did in the N64 era.
I'm sad to learn that was not the case, their names did give away their weakness to fire though.
I still wish Nintendo wouldn't sleep on the ReDeads and Dead Hand though, absolute nightmare fuel for me to this day.
ikr 💀
@@riqoz actually, the paralysis mechanic does come back, in the form of Gloom Spawn
It’s not exactly the same, nor is it the same enemy, unfortunately
The gibdos are weak to elements in general
Gloom hands should have been Dead hands, inside the deku tree would have been perfect for an encounter like that maybe even a random well
@@jfp4life I thought they might be Dead Hands at first, that’s how I figured out to throw bombs at them
At some point in the game they started charging me on all fours. Needless to say, pants were shat that day.
Not gonna lie, when I got to gerudo town I had a flamethrower shield and tried to target to change the camera, end up not only locking on to that same crawler, but by pure reflex blocked with the shield and ended up blasting him with a full battery before he got up.
Both a hilarious and terrifying way to get introduced to that enemy type.
When I found it for the first time I just thought they were super strong not that they had a gimmick so I used like 4 weopons to kill one without elements I litteraly only noticed they were weak to elements when that one cutscene where rigu kills three with one lightning
Meanwhile I found out by accident because I had a sapphire rod and froze them on reflex, and then thought I had to have ice weapons when my regular weapons didnt do much. Ended up merging a bunch of my weapons with frozen platforms in preparation for taking them on
The N64 version will always be the most creepiest version to me. They always had creepy music playing when they appeared. The scream was terrifying it still gives me chills. And the low bellowing moaning they made....oh man that was so unnerving the first time I saw them as a kid. Also the design was just creepier
Redeads were my favorite growing up, they were the only enemy that actually scared me on OoT
When I decided to check out beneath the castle before going to Gerado town. Boy did these guys scare me because I had no idea how to beat them at first and was in literal fear trying to break the rocks to get past them.
I was surprised to see them but not hear the scream. I found their weakness on accident wearing the Hot Weather Attack clothes
Thats cause the scream is a redead thing not a gibdo thing
Honestly, I like how disconcerting they are without getting under your skin like that.
This game made me realize ocarina of time and wind waker scarred me way worse than i thought they did as a kid cuz every time i run into any of these guys I legit start screaming. Scared my parents pretty bad.
that ayo sound effect when the gibdo started riding link
pause
I still crap my pants in fear of Redeads from Ocarina of Time.
I was calling them freaks of nature, and then I realised that my favorite helmet (Miner's Helmet) is modeled after them
The ones that sprint after you in the boss fight were nightmare fuel.
Erase your comment. The game is new, don't make spoilers ever, let alone when the game isn't a month old.
@@rifasclub If you watch this video, you already got spoiled enough.
@@rifasclub No.
@rifasclub So this comment is like 9 months old now and I doubt you care anymore, but isn't literally any discussion about a game technically a spoiler? Anything could potentially make someone learn something about the game before they reach that point, "spoiling" the surprise for them.
But just because something is a spoiler is not the same thing as it being a significant spoiler. If I tell someone that a character dies in a movie, that affects their experience with that character because they know they're going to die. If I tell someone that a boss fight involves a scary enemy charging at you...okay? So what?
You're making a mountain out of a molehill.
@@sparky6757 this video is a spoiler.
While i do like Gibdos, i would have preferred ReDeads
That whoops at the beginning is so much relatable to me. I always carry a lot of rocket shields
Consider:
If Gibdos are these things
ReDeads would just be Gloom-infused ones. They could have it where you'd only find them in the Depths. If one finds you and screams it wouldn't just stun you
No it could attract *more* of them :^)
actually interesting idea!
The first time you enter gerudo city, and saw this little arrow, and decided to move forward to see what is it… scary, in my top 3 monter
When I first got to Gerudo town, I thought the Gibdos were this game's version of Redeads and assumed that the Gerudo had a redead apocalypse and that these were the reanimated corpses of those who didn't survive, like some of the Castle Town residents after the timeskip in Oot. Was both relieved and a little disappointed to realize I was wrong
i'm so happy that when i walked into Gerudo Town, I saw the Gibdo and climbed up the wall instead
The first time I saw them in the game I was keeping my distance waiting for the scream 😂
I remember being terrified of them and the redead as a kid, now they are kind of goofy but still pretty cool
When I got to the gerudo desert, I happened to have an ice weapon equipped for the heat, and I actually thought these things were just pushovers because it went down in two hits XD I was taken by surprise when the gerudo talked about how they're impossible to kill
its so goofy how they ragdoll when you headshot them
Oh you haven’t seen them speed crawl yet.
I sorta wish they where more threatening, maybe have them grab you if you get to close or give them back the terrifying scream they used to have.
They did basically combine the concept of them in OoT/MM, then in TP, the Gibdo's are also very Redead like, still having the signature paralyzing scream.
I first encountered these guys in the Depths. They're not so scary here as they are jarring, but I do appreciate the change. Having played every other Zelda game I figured fire was their weakness (I was right) but seeing that other elements can work similarly is cool. Tip to defeat these guys even easier: a head shot with Fire Arrows kills both variants instantly.
They knew what they’re doing when they put that enemie in ocrina of time
This link doesn't even flinch at the scream lol. Makes sense considering this is the Link known to create machines and vehicles of mass destruction.
Spared myself another jumpscare-worthy enemy. THANK YOU.
They are like weird bug monsters now
my default is the taser drone with the hydrant attached to it, i had no idea these guys were so tough.
They actually managed to make gibdo not scary at all. idk I can't take them seriously when some of them basically have fairy wings and flutter about. I know they're moth wings, but it still looks ridiculous all the same lol
That sound of a gibdo from ocarina of time from terminal montage
I really wanted Darknut/Iron Knuckles to make a return.
I wish the Redeads came back, while I do enjoy the gibdos, it just not the same. My friend had an idea for the lightning temple and the Gerudo town attack the gibdo gained Redead abilities so it shows how more threatening they are compared to regular ones
I wish they still piggy backed on you. It made them feel like such a big threat on top of how the would stun you first and you try hard to get away cause you don’t want them to get on you.
Wish the scream still paralyzed link with fear like it used too
For once I am glad that they nerved their paralyzing scream.
The gloom hands screeches are enough 😅
redeads from Windwaker are still the scariest to me.
when they crawl, it's actually horrifying
This is my first time encounter them when this game came out and I was about to put my switch away for the day 😂
I wish they still screamed, I love the creepy crawl and more insect motif they have now... But man the scream was the most iconic part.
Well the molestation too, but mostly the scream!
When I saw that they had wings, I could just feel my 5 year old self start crying deep within my psyche
*hears redead scream*
*falls over*
First time i fought one and saw that my diamon weapon did nothing to it i instinctively went with "kill it with fire"
the scary thing about the gibdos is that initially you have no fkin idea how to kill them until you try elemental weapons. or you could be like me and have the first thing you use on them be a frost gleeok spear 😂
Need them to have the freezing abilities and scary cry they have with realistic style of oot
I never encountered these in previous LoZ games
Good thing they dont stun you by screaming
I have not encountered this creature yet. Gloom Hands are my current nightmare fuel.
Their death screech is perfect imo
First time I ran into them I had strong weapons but no fire or lighting and they kicked my butts, but when you know to hit them with fire or shock there super easy
Young Link: *Sees a Redead* Oh hell no.... To no-no-noooo-noooo~
still hear the scream from OOT
I went into the shroud and saw one and immediately thought it was a redead
I was happy
Then scared
Then ran as fast as I could to town
"For the dead shall rise...and the living will be our slaves! He(Link) must be stopped!"
I was able to get this game the day before it was released, thanks Game Stop! ... I just found these guys yesterday though. I know someone who rushed through the game to do everything as fast as they could.... now they're just hunting Koroks.... Me though.... I'm still only one temple in. I'm going to savor this game!
Use fire or lightning to get them to the weakened state (they turn white) and then they can be attacked normally
The first time I encountered them I was so confused how to beat them as I waaaay out of my depth and was exploring a certain underground area way to early. I killed one but I could barely hurt it with everything that I had. HOWEVER, in an area right before it they had hydrants and I attached one to a Zonai sword that was nearby cuz I wanted to see what it does. I just happened to pull it out after the weapon I was using broke. Killed that moth zombie so quick I was stunned.
The first time I encountered one I had an electric lizalfos reaper equipped and I was disappointed how easy it was to take it down. Only found out during the main quest line why that was 😅
The gloomy hands seems to take their place in the scare factor.
Only the gibdos that were disguised redeads could do the shriek. Other gibdos couldn't do that
I wasn’t a fan of their moth design but the running shit I loved that
Of all the enemies in tears of the kingdom my favorites are the gibdos (including the queen) and the gleeoks
they look more like the ocarina of time redeads then a gibdo.
I really wish they had kept their blood curdling scream. I also wish they were a little more threatening. Maybe they could have stretchy arms to pull you towards them; maybe they could have used their paralyzing screams during their vulnerable state to try to stop you from damaging them. Idk, anything to make them the least bit intereting! Their redesigns are so cool that I can't help but feel like they're wasted potential.
they look more like redeads so when i first saw it i was like "no way redeads are back!" and then someone in game said they were gibdos and i was like ''...they dont look like gibdos tho"
0:23 the way he flew back is crazy
If you use an ice sword it oneshots them with a Barbarian Armor equipped of course.
Something interesting:
Gibdos most defining trait in all of the zelda games are their high armor and weakness to fire
Both of which these gibdos share
Their bretheren the redeads are defined by paralyzing gaze
However there have been 2 games where gibdos also have the paralyzing gaze, one is in twilight princess and the other is in majora's mask, where if burnt would reveal a redead!
That said there have been more games where burning gibdos would reveal a stalfos instead which is interesting in its own right
I miss their screams 😭
Not gonna lie, first time they were pretty unsettling.
I was surprised they didn't attempt grabbing you.
I have found they are very easy to kill if ya ive fruit em. Though may depend on the weapon ya use. Also, great way to get a 31 damage weapon is taking a sturdy long stick and fusing a black boss bokoblin horn to it.
Gibdo in the N64 era: AAAAAHHHHH!!!
Gibdo in TotK: (Hisssss!)
I actually thought they were redead’s when I first saw them
REDEADDD
my dumbass broke like two silver lynel weapons trying to kill these before i found out about the elemental weakness
