I might be very old school, but... 1) Queuing in front of a shop? That's not luxury. 2) Producing goods under despicable, inhuman conditions? That's not luxury. 3) Strategically placed ass-kissing in order to be considered to maybe one day spend money on goods? That's not luxury. 4) Delivering poor, awful quality that doesn't deserve the price tag? That's not luxury. 5) Lying about limited editions and exclusive releases that will neeeeever be available again? That's not luxury.

They’re beautiful to look at but I don’t wear them nearly enough because I don’t have anywhere really to wear them and that was before the current economic times. Before the economy crashing the last 2 years I’d at least wear my bags when I was off work, if only to the grocery store or something like that but now I’m concerned about being too flashy and bringing unwanted and dangerous attention to myself.

The quiet luxury fad is what put me over the edge and moved me away from luxury bags. Paying thousands for a bag that most don’t recognize as luxury got me looking around much cheaper (but equally as beautiful and quality) options. I have very recently, at 60, discovered an obsession with bags. I've dipped my toe into some entry level luxury bags (Fendi Baguette, Mini Loewe Puzzle, LV Speedy, etc.) However, lack of quality and unethical treatment of employees are deal breakers for me. I will wait in line, I really don't care that my bag is frequently faked and that, therefore,
people might think mine is a fake, but I will not spend a fortune on a poorly made bag, or on a company that doesn't treat it's employees well. I thought the point of luxury was that you got a well made product and that the company was more transparent than fast fashion in terms of their business practices.

When I was 12 my mom took me to the LV on Bloor Street in Toronto. I had my fake LV from *esluxy* on my arm and thought I was cute. The sweet sales ladies let me try on a bag and a pair of heels knowing we were not wealthy and couldn't afford to purchase anything. It as really nice. No one seemed to care I had a fake bag and I felt special. They even gave me a paper shopping bag which I used as a lunch bag for weeks after! :) Who cares if people don't have real ones? @danishpastry6137 Před měsícem +6

I suppose luxury, for all of us, is how something makes us feel.
For me personally luxury is not just big logo's! Luxury to me is all about quality. So whether it's a big name or a small artisan brand, if it makes my heart sing, it's luxury.
I don't have a huge collection of high end bags - I have two, and both were very considered and both were bought preloved (because as you say, they don't hold their value and the market is saturated). I do have more mid range bags, and these give me just as much pleasure when I use them.
I buy the best quality I can afford, and I've always tended to avoid big logo's which I think is down to me being more of an introvert. So the "quiet luxury" trend (how I hate that term), is almost my style and has been for many years, although I don't wear all neutrals and I love pops of red. I'd say it's more about elevated basics, but with a casual edge. It feels luxurious for me to wear an item that I've owned and worn for many years, that's still in amazing condition and it still feels current in my wardrobe.
As for luxury having had it's day, I'd say it's more of a hiatus! Whenever there is unrest, be it financial or political, people will buy things with longevity that are more low key. They're not willing to take a risk on things that may be here today, gone tomorrow. In your face, luxury will be back when the financial and political pictures are looking brighter.

Actually this weekend I went shopping in an other state ( I’m in the US) because I wanted to look at some exotic bags. I actually saw one in Dior that was amazing, but I walked away. It would have been just an other super expensive bag suited for special occasions only. That’s what it is with exotics, so I decided that I’m done! I got it out of my system. I’m adding some jewelry pieces but nothing crazy. I think I’m pretty much at the end of the road, at one point, it’s just redondant and doesn’t spark the same joy and excitement than the first designer bags we get.

Some people don’t want to look like a Xmas tree all year round, instead they buy garments which are made to last. If I purchase a food item at the store that is labeled "certified organic" or an item is labeled "Fair Trade" certified, that company had to jump through hoops to earn those designations. Why don't these luxury brands hold themselves to the same standards? Why CAN'T they tell us the source of each element of their bags or clothing items? Luxury is gone, IMOP. @@Wildunfiltered actually no. I tend to buy only if I need it (usually premium brands or unpopular brands that have good quality) then I will look into pre love market or wait for a sale. Nowadays 90% of my bags are nylon coz I like it light weight and cruelty free☺️ I used to own a ton of Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Celine, Mulberry…etc. One night I came home and some burglars broke in and stole all my luxury bags, sunglasses, jewelry…etc. I guess I was targeted and followed home. It haunted my daughter who was only 7 years old at the time. Lucky no one was hurt as they left when we got home. Since that day (over 10 years ago) I realized I had an addiction to collect luxury items and for some reason the desire was gone after the incident. Burberry is the most expensive bag I ever bought and I just got it last week! I didn’t feel good after the purchase. The bag is beautiful, it smells of amazing fine leather, but when I smelled my Coach bags, I realized it smells the same. I think my next bag will be a Brahmin or I’ll just keep it at Coach,

The only way a luxury purchase is worth it is for it to bring you joy. If you don’t feel good about it then it’s not for you. The bag sounds amazing and there will have been a reason you wanted to buy it x

when you have a closet full of designer things, you can quite say that it’s enough, but when did you just start? you just want these things to be only yours and other people not to buy them. if you think it's time to stop oh buying, sell everything you have and then say it... you won't say it! so all this is hypocrisy and demagoguery for the sake of a video.
