What are some games that were only ever seen in the arcade that I should check out?
rail chase
Time Crisis 5 and Virtua Cop 3
Knuckle Heads, Schmeiser Robo and Super Locomotive (aka the one with Rydeen in the background)
Planet Harriers would be a good one to see. However the emulation is kind of crummy for the Hikaru.
House Of The Dead: Scarlet Dawn
I'll tell you what was left in the arcade, tons of my parents quarters in the 90s.
Lol 😊
Same here, and most of it was spent on one of the games featured here, that being Desert Assault. My dad and I spent so much time playing that at the local bowling alley.
You know what's left in the arcade? 1999, my friends and my teen hood.
@@zZiL341yRj736 Damn , I feel the same way...
I'd definitely like to see some of those SEGA games featured in a future Yakuza entry.
The Yakuza games are amazing!
I Had the exact same idea watchuing the show..! ^^.
This so much 👍
Half of the arcades in the Yakuza games feel like they're extensions of the Sega Saturn version of the Sega Ages collection, minus the extras.
I wonder if they're emulating the arcade games and using the fact they can read memory addresses to get things like score for the completion log or if they're porting them to modern hardware for the in game arcades.
The motorcycle minigame in Lost Judgment is based on the first game in this video, Air Bike! :O
Game Sack feels like sneaking into the kitchen for a late night snack
Best Raycon ad I've seen lmao, dude you even make ad's worth watching.
Damn near sold me on em lol
It got me all hot and sweaty 😏
I'm just glad it was at the end so I could just shut it off. Damn shills at Cinemassacre put it all over their videos so I just stopped watching the product.
Honestly, the skits at the end of Game Sack episodes are better than modern AVGN.
Screenwave aka ryan dads money
Best game review series on the web! I hope you never stop making videos. I miss Dave but the show is as good as ever
Dave is the reason I stopped watching way back when, but now that he's gone, I am happy as a shit covered pig and can start watching Game Sack again!
Agree, after CGR is now permanently dead, Game Sack is the by far best game related channel in existence. Professionally made, actually funny jokes and this guy truly loves games, which shows.
@@foamybelch, it must be hard accepting that there are people out there with opinions that differ from your own. You can miss him all you want, and I wouldn't downvote your comment because of that.
Already in talks with Sega to get A.B Cop ported to modern consoles, so very soon you'll be able to play it on your very own Sega Saturn and Panasonic 3DO!
Thanks for the hard work Joe. You and Dave talking about games while bit tunes play in the background rock me to sleep.
I do the same, I watch it multiple times till I have seen everything.
i watch this while eating my food
Dawg, same. Helps me sleep when my heads going 1000mph
So I geuss I'm not the only one whos sleep schedule has be destroyed by this quarantine
Ummm....unless I missed him, Dave wasn’t in this episode and hasn’t been in an episode in a long time. FYI ;)
I only ever heard of and played Violent Storm a few months ago - and it pretty much instantly went to the top of my best beat em ups arcade list. It is such a fantastic game.
one of the best, and possibly last, of its genre
Try Night Slashers X on Openbor! One of my favorite beat em up games of all time!
The prequel Vendetta is even better!!
This is ace, always looking for more quality beatemups to emulate. Streets of Rage 2 is my fave game ever, and in recent years I've loved discovering Mystic Warriors through MAME
@@GenyaArikado Night Slashers is on the Switch
I love the catch-up-and-ram gameplay concept from chase hq.. that genre needs to make a comeback
Best compliment I can give your channel is that every time I watch one of your videos it makes me want to play some old video games
Adrian fixed. Good catch!
Violent Storm is my favorite arcade beatemup too! The fast pace, the wide variety of scenery, the weird enemies, the humor, the corny music. I'm glad to see it getting some love these days.
There's something very therapeutic about binge watching Game Sack.
Not too many times where there's a game I don't recognise, yet Gamesac is a place where I usually will learn something new. Great channel, Joe's doing an amazing job as a solo producer and presenter.
The Violent Storm artstyle is absolutely righteous, I love it
I remember playing Violent Storm, actually, and I also love the soundtrack to that game as well.
i wanted to play it
Man, I kinda really dig how the sprites scale to perspective in that beat 'em up. It makes me want some modern 2D game to aggressively use all kinds of scaling and parallax techniques in a creative way... without the quarter munching jank of arcade games.
Violent Storm is amazing, the music is fantastically cheesy and catchy.
CarnEvil is definitely the game I've always thought of when I recall Arcade Exclusive titles, so I'm pretty psyched to see you tackling it in this episode.
There’s a CarnEvil at the Old North Arcade in Columbus, Ohio. I personally don’t like it much because it flashes too bright when you shoot your gun I feel like I’m gonna have a seizure.
I am so happy you talked about Violent Storm - I tell anyone who will listen about how much I love it! Anyone I've convinced to play it with me has insisted we play straight through the entire game! It's so damn good.
Wow, I've heard about SO MANY of these from the totally awesome gaming blog, VGJunk. And lately Violent Storm in particular, with SNESdrunk's video and even seeing it on some speedrun channels on Twitch. It feels like it's all connected, maaaaan! Kickass games with awesome visuals and soundtracks nearly lost to time but being brought back to people's attention is a truly wonderful thing.
I'm enjoying all of these left in the arcades episodes. I never knew that these games existed which is pretty sad considering that I was a pretty avid arcade gamer back in the day. Maybe all of the arcades that I frequented never invested in any of these rare games. Thanks for doing this series of episodes!
22:42, Ho man, that is the MOST BLATANT Chun Li knockoff I've ever seen in an arcade game.
Never knew Violent Storm was so cool, maybe we'll see it come home soon with the ACA line? If Hamster can finally give us the arcade version of Sunset Riders, I don't see why not!
Gantann I played it during a time in 2002, when I was running through Capcom’s entire catalogue, from Cadillacs and Dinosaurs to Aliens vs Predator and beyond.
Violent Storm was suggested as a standout due to its silliness (similar to Battle Circuit) and while I didn’t quite finish it (solo beatemups can be trying as Joe said) I definitely remember the music!
Yep. I don't know what the rationale is (if any) for what games Hamster choose to release in their Arcade Archives series. Personally, I've been jonesing for them to release something from the Parodius series, but like a big tease they've released just about every game with any family relations to that series - Gradius, Twinbee, etc., even comparatively obscure relatives like Bells & Whistles - but no actual Parodius games. Doesn't seem to make sense. Wish Hamster were more transparent about how they select titles.
22:19 Joe: There’s a loud bell like a boxing match that you’ll hear constantly which doesn’t take long to become annoying.
Me: I don’t know Joe, I actually love that bell sound in this game, it just sounds so satisfying.
I was 4 years old when I saw CARNEVIL, I really didn't liked violent video games like Mortal Kombat in my early ages, instead it looked very spooky to me, that's why I got phobia to went at an arcade room, a bowling alley and a Pizza places because of CARNEVIL... Now that I'm almost 24 years old I really love arcade games, but I lost my fear to arcade games when I turned 10 years old and I was obsessed with Capcom arcade games and the NEO GEO going out at a tortillería playing KOF 2002...
Yeah when I was 6 years old I saw 3 wonders, Metal slug and KOF '99 at a Mexican neighborhood that has a shop in it
my age old things i never see anymore going to arcades, metal slug series, House of the Dead series, n Terminator 2 judgement day. really miss playing those. i've got alot of the metal slug games on console, but i miss the arcade feel.
Your comment on how the bell sound would be awful to the Arcade employees and stuff like that are one of the most important reasons why I love this channel. You are a real person, just like us.
Really, really look forwards to the next Game Sack episode. Just great stuff every time!
In the Sack we trust! What an awesome collection of obscure game I have never heard of! 10/10 for the quality Joe, as per usual!
I remember playing Carnevil in the arcade and my friend would hold the light gun a certain way where he could hit the reload button and trigger in rapid succession like some kind of mad wild west sheriff. Might be hard to do in an emulator but might want to give it a try.
Sweet! A new episode of Same Gack!!!
It’s sad to think some games are probably lost to time. At least we have these. Thanks Gamesack! 🐙
Great Episode, my favorite series of yours. We need more left in the arcades.
BTW also a great end skit. One could easily be fooled into thinking, this Raycon would be a real company.
Ahh Xband. I remember when I got randomly paired up to play Mario Kart vs someone who just happened to live down the street from me. After playing him I got his phone number and I walked 2 blocks down and we hung out. Some 25 years later he is still a close friend, I still talk to him often. Thanks Xband!
Big brother Joe! Thanks...lol just wanted to say thank you for continuing to provide us with great high quality content! 🤟
Best channel out there. Thanks, Joe Redifer👌🤪
Need to make your show
Weekly!
Your at home quarintined...
So you got ALL the time in the world... Joe!
I recently got the HD release of Double Dragon, ready to tear into the thugs who took my girl! As I played, I wondered why the game ticked me off all those years ago. And then it hit me: the timer! I can't just take my time in the third stage, I needed to haul ass or else. Double Dragon and A.B. Cop: two ruthless games where time is not on your side.
Some of these games would’ve seriously been great on 32-bit era home consoles.
Aureil or whatever was one of my favorites.
Mecha theme are just awesome!
Another Sunday morning with coffee and gamesack, great
Yes, life is good!! My fav sub series, thanks Joe!!
This is my favourite series, Left In The Arcades.
Left in the Sack. "Lost" episodes
The last one, "Left In The Arcade 5", came out in November 2017.
My Dad has the CarnEvil arcade game in his collection. I played it a lot when it first came out.
How old is your dad?
Never heard of CarnEvil before, but looks fun. Reminds me somewhat of the carnival level in House of the Dead - Overkill (probably the greatest lightgun shooter ever made)
@@frankschneider6156 CarnEvil was addictive, but tough as hell sometimes; still one of the best light gun games in the arcade
@@foamybelch He is. Between me and him, we have a rather sizeable video game collection. And he started collecting some arcade cabinets with some he's currently working on repairing.
@@GenyaArikado 57, he'll be 58 this year.
This is such a cool series. Great to add to my rom list but gosh I wish I could find some of these in arcades.
Violent Storm deserves to be re-released! No, they deserve a REMAKE with more levels, playable characters AND the original arcade game as an unlockable!
And Golden Axe revenge of death adder
Greetings from colorado, im glad i stayed up till midnight to catch a great episode !
Oh man Sunday evening treat in Japan! Yay! Joe's back on the old Youbeybox!
I knew there was a reason I stayed up so late tonight.
you did the same every day?
Felt really weird when I woke up and saw this game sack episode because I beat violent storm last night. Thanks for creeping me out, Joe!
If Air Bike Cop received an arcade perfect home port I could imagine some people experiencing epileptic seizures playing that game.
Desert Assault looks like either a direct sequel or a spiritual sequel to Bloody Wolf that originally came out in the Arcade and was also ported to the Turbo Grafx 16. The dead giveaway is because it was developed by Data East and this seems to have the exact same running animations and perspective as Bloody Wolf. Thanks for covering Desert Assault as I've never heard of it but I LOVE Bloody Wolf a lot and it's nice to know it possibly has a sequel 😊
Many good games I never heard of, nice video.
You probably already covered it, but The Outfoxies is probably my most tragic case of "left in the arcade". This game had an awesome concept, and was a lot of fun. They really need to do a remake of this game for modern systems. I'd even settle for a home port in the Nintendo Switch e-shop. This game does not deserve to be forgotten like it is.
Lol, shit... that skit at the end put a decent grin on my face
The circuit you're playing on Final Lap is Interlagos, a real one located in São Paulo and Stills being the home of F1 in Brazil.
Yeah I was certain it was based on a real track somewhere.
One arcade game I never saw a home release for was Tokyo Wars. It was a tank battle game. The cabinet typically had two side-by-side, sit-down cabinets. I never played against another player, but enjoyed playing against the computer.
Wow, I’ve never heard of any of these games before. Great selection! I enjoy this series.
These are always great episodes Joe!
Love these episodes 😃 The only game I knew about of these was Arabian Fight. Not a great game, but well worth a mention. Great work Joe 😊
Woke up super early due to back pain and see a new Gamesack upload I feel a bit more healed now thanks Gamesack
>2007
>swimming place on a lake
>other amusements available such as an arcade
>playthrough carnevil
>all is well
Wow. I have not thought about CarnEvil since probably 1998. It was EVERYWHERE for a while there. Great video Joe, I love the left in the arcade series.
I was about to go to bed until this dropped. Thanks for the awesome content
That first game with the Cyber Cops on morotcycles looks awesome. Reminds me of the car driving segments of Batman Returns on SEGA CD.
Holy shit that violent storm music!!! :D I am SO playing that game! Thanks Joe!
Desert Assault is awesome, and there's a lot you didn't experience playing alone. I have the arcade pcb. You had it set to 2p mode, but it supports 4 player co-op, and multiple players can even jump onto the bigger vehicles, manning turrets while the first player on drives. Players can pick up near-death players and drag them to power-ups, and it's just a great, chaotic time.
It's also a sequel to Bloody Wolf, and Snake and Eagle from that game are playable. Each character has a different starting weapon, though there are tons of guns for everyone to swap. It's good stuff.
Desert Assault is an awesome 4 player arcade game. I have it in my list of over 500 4 player games on my modded TMNT Arcade 1up multicade.
Great episode Joe. More like this please (arcade games I mostly haven't heard of but I might like to play)
I played Arabian Fight at my local arcade, Nickel City in San Diego back in the mid 1990s. I was only 11 that time. I remembered thinking those were some of the greatest graphics I ever laid my eyes on. But man...I wasn't really fond of how the game played. Luckily I had other players join in for some co-op action, and it was somewhat fun. I know, it sounds weird.
I played F1 EXHAUST NOTE, I remember the cabinet with 2 seats and the speakers near the backrest, great game and then you had to queue for your turn
I remember playing F1 Exhaust Note back then, the sound on that cabinet was amazing
Great episode! I love to play arcade games on mame using my arcade home made controller!
Well, looks like I'm not about to fall asleep after all. Stoked for the new upload! :)
Mach Breakers: Numan Athletics 2 would be a neat game to cover next time.
This. A hundred times this.
Or any Namco game that wasn't ported to consoles. Outfoxies anyone?
A bunch of Namco arcade stuff got improved on mame recently, there's Nebulas Ray - very nice looking vert shooter with pre - rendered graphics.
"Four outstanding human beings"
Needs to be a band name 🔥
@RockManLP_Radio ok thanks for your useless comment and opinion
Just saw a new episode posted and had to ask myself "Is it really Sunday ALREADY?!" Thank you for keeping my week straight Joe.
i almost thought it was Monday when i woke up today
love you guys! , excellent and very informative and Sydney , Australia loves ya too!
"I usually hate shotguns due to their limited range"
Okay, first of all, shotguns always have a shorter effective range than most guns due to spread, though having the projectiles vanish after a short distance *IS* stupid, and second of all, playing a game where the level design complements shotguns like Doom would definitely help with that. Being able to actually get up in people's faces for the meatshot is SATISFYING, and shotguns were probably the most benefited weapon type from the switch from 2D to 3D.
Love X-Band. :) Played the heck out of mine! It was incredibly affordable.
...and, yeah, I don't think the card reader was ever used here in the United States. They said it would be used for credits/rental but I never saw any sign that the rolled it out... despite buying mine at Blockbuster Video.
Another great video, thanks!
Sometimes I see some sprite scaling and have a retro emotion... but I remember that it's over and feel even better!
CarnEvil always looked and felt like it would be perfectly at home with a port on the Dreamcast.
The best retro game channel on CZcams
1am and I decided to watch Game Sack.... What can I say I like what they do.
Great 1000 Mile Rally and it's sequel are great arcade top down racers that never got home ports.
Re: Aurail- I had the same issue when initially playing the game. Then I decided to turn on autofire ( 20hz) and the regular top-down stages became a lot easier due to 1) easier control over the direction of your shot & 2) much easier to damage enemies & bosses. That being said, the biggest roadblocks to a 1cc are the Round 9 boss, the last 3d stage ( Round 14, has some pretty tough formations) & Round 16 ( lack of energy refills & 2 bosses back to back), but you do get a few extra lives along the way at score thresholds. I still think its a cool game that could've used a bit more development time to flesh out the top down areas.
One thing your channel has made me realize is that when the Dreamcast and PS2 were or even the 64 we're coming out, I think I'd prefer beautiful 2d games with detailed sprites and backgrounds over blocky 3D characters and backgrounds.
Great work Sir thank you
One beat em up to rule them all - Vendetta
I don’t know what it is but I love the snow in Burning Rival. It looks amazing with that background.
The Overtake button in F1 Super Lap is basically the DRS that we have been using for few years now
I always loved Thrill Drive in the arcade, and was always amazed that no one talked about it when Burnout came out and completely ripped it off...
Hidden gems.. I’m really impressed and quite sorry I didn’t get to play some of these.. Never too late for remasters on the newer systems however
OOOHHHH YAAASSS!!! MAKE IT PART 7 OF THIS SERIES!!! SACK!!!
I don't know why, but I almost pissed my pants laughing when you stuck the credit card in the xband. Great video Joe as always.
I played CarnEvil in a crowded arcade at a birthday party that was a trip. They also had Crazy Taxi!
Looks like NFS Hot Pursuit (2010) when you play as a cop was influenced by A.B. Cop. Ram the target vehicles a few times, a limited boost from turbo instead of nitrous, dodge objects, time limit. Looks like fun!
17:00 That crazy looking mohawk haired dude swinging steel pipe reminds me a little bit of Beavis from Beavis and Butthead xD. His face looks the same. The eyes, mouth, headshape and eaven the crazy movements xD
Awesome episode, Joe!
Carnevil is a technical mess, but it was highly requested for a reason, and in its case l think it was the amazing style and level and enemy design it just felt like no light gun game before it
