This man plays like a super pro. And someone wants less reverb. It blows my mind how the comments are so weird. God himself could be playing, and someone would complain::: look he is wearing sandals, and, is that a beard, oh my. CZcams is not the shrinks office, where you tell us all your BS so please spare us. Gavin as always thank you for what you do for the drum community. The sound is a tourbillion of rhythm.
Too much verb for my taste as well. Doesn't do a thing to diminish his excellent playing. Not sure what any of this has to do with a bearded deity wearing sandals.
@ryder187mac - If you're asking what's the last drum groove playing at the end of this video; I believe it's John Bonham - Fool In The Rain - drum-track only.
Great example of dynamics. Other-- less musical drummers try that solo, it would sound bombastic, balls out pounding. Gavin is light as a feather at times. Like Gadd.
@spacitydrummerrjc Because no other drummer can play like Gavin. No one has his feel and groove. Much like no one has Mangini's pure technique and speed.
I think this is what happens:If a drummer wants to be awesome,he goes to Gavin's house and asks for permission. If he gets it,he is awesome. If he doesn't,he sucks.
Yeah Mangini's the fastest (he holds the world record), but he can't bust out that pace in his playing, while the others easily use it in their fills..
he is ridiculously accurate with his hits
He is the best Melodic Drummer In the world (imho)
Greatest toms sound on CZcams...
his snare sound is just craaazy.... it sounds smooth when he hits it softly, but frickin crisp and sharp when he's givin it a punch
HES YELL!!!! From a bassist to a premier drummer ; Love.
GAVIN GAVIN GAVIN GAVIN!
i've heard a lot of really good drummers in my time, but Gavin Harrison isn't just another "good drummer." this man is a true musician.

that twelve inch snare sounds soooooo gooood
@EinJemand92 actually it's at 2:03 a moment of thinking his next awesome move.
He has a signature ALL!

so simple, but so good
God save Gavin!!!!
This video is haunted by the ghost notes
Is using clear or coated ambassadors on the bottom?
Clear
guys, can anyone tell me who plays the outro songs.... really sounds amazing.
It's excerpted from Fool In The Rain by Led Zeppelin
2:01 Might just be the only proof on youtube that Gavin is from this planet!!!
@SeamlessDivide: What do you see at 2:01?
Vic Firth.....but I swear he's using the Zildjian dip sticks...no? PS love the splash section.
What’s he doing at 0:53?
paura!!
Im wondering... What ride is that?
Looks like a K Constantinople. I have one myself. Great jazz rides! :)
Woaaah
im pretty sure its just part of it, he counts in with the hat and everything is still in time.
...! ! !
@spacitydrummerrjc Because no other drummer can play like Gavin. No one has his feel and groove. Much like no one has Mangini's pure technique and speed.
To be honest I'd still go Mangini for speed, and possibly Tony Royster Jr.
Excellent playing as always! His 12" snare is tuned low, and sounds wonderful. My only criticism is too much reverb on the snare and toms.
I think this is what happens:If a drummer wants to be awesome,he goes to Gavin's house and asks for permission. If he gets it,he is awesome. If he doesn't,he sucks.
@mrsmithcollin175 id love to see you try that
oh i see, lol!
0:20 Try not to get satisfied challenge (99.99% fail)
still have no idea what band he is in
Porcupine Tree.
Why would Portnoy dislike this?
Try Thomas Pridgen or Dennis Chambers for speed, and when it comes to technique, Joe Morello wins that race..
No dude, they sound totally different.
And now Lars Ulrich XD
Porcupine tree..
i feel like if i played on his kit a bit of his skill would rub off on me....
Yeah Mangini's the fastest (he holds the world record), but he can't bust out that pace in his playing, while the others easily use it in their fills..
Great soling but WAY too much verb for my taste... washes out the stick work.
because he can't play this good
Too much sound effects ..
