Consider me "mind-blown"! I always heard things about this Blackwell chap.,..all bad. Thanks Al for the inside back story.. also for your great blues guitar. I stayed up many nights working out your leads on the Natty Dread album, especially on Lively Up Yourself.💚🎸

This is keeping it real. Sad but that's the reality. Thanks Al for bringing some of the dark but real sides of the life after Bob. Bob was definitely an extremely strong personality to keep all these personalities together.

It happens in literary every band you have heard of. The Bob Marley side of money was a mess really. A great songwriter of note, but the genesis of the problem is the contract Bob signed with Blackwell. Would you believe, Bob was deemed to be a worker-for-hire to Blackwell. I believe also that Bob was late in re-organizing his publishing, and the actual drafting of contracts with his band. Sure when he was alive, it was 50-50, but....He could not repair his relationship with Peter Tosh... There are songs which many believe are mis-credited. songs which where attributed to Bob, to the exclusion of co-writers. It happens. Why? great musicians are always surrounded by a coterie of people at all times, and when a good idea hits, there are some musicians who contribute to make it whole. Take for instance the song Redemption songs. Many wailer members will testify that Wya Lindo had a big hand in crafting that song. Same goes for Could You Be Loved. Jacob Miller was a part of that creation. .... I like this interview. Al had to make it. Cathartic. It has helped him to Heal. 1love

Al Anderson a legendary musician. Had the honor of meeting him and seeing The Original Wailers perform a couple of years back. I believe everything he said was the truth. Chris Whiteworse is just that the worst. These musicians created the sound for Bob's music to penetrate the world. They are geniuses and should have been properly compensated.

Nothing but great thanks for Al Anderson for telling the truth.
So...thank you Al Anderson!! Bunny Wailer tried to tell the whole
story as it was but because of Chris Whiteworse nobody believed
him. Just think that Blackwell still owes him the royalties of the
Blackheart man album!! Damn the rich ppl!! Anyway, thank you
Al Anderson..you're a great musician on your own right. Bless

  • @351clevelandmodifiedmotor4

I haven't herd anyone who can sound like bob Marley singing, even his son's only sound half like him, but they should of totally put Ziggy in place of Bob and in time add the other son's , and call the group Marley's and the wailers,

    • @jackmayoff5797

Naw everything happened the way it was supposed to… ziggy had big shoes to fill and did a good job carving his own lane… but he’s not bob… now if the remaining wailers would have joined the melody makers under the name of melody makers would have been great to see

Omg, he actually drank some of the beer, this is a great interview, bob marley and the waliers is the greatest band there ever was in terms of being playing as a band and their mission, the songs were designed to make awareness of evil and spiritual wickeness in high and low places, as well as a protest against injustice , a comfort to the oppressed and athems of jamaica and rastafari, where other big super groups and singer song writers work is about fiction , made up stories that empower the ego of the singers and ego of the musicians, the wailers were never up themselves like so many other big groups, rollingstones , rap artists etc, rollingstones and mic Jagger, a very tallented group of musicians who's egos are rediculous,, expecially mic, his lips on the covers and shit ,, his but,, does he use his lips and his but to make notes???? ,

I believe a lot of things that you're saying, but on the subject of Cris Blackwell, you have to be honest, there would be no Bob Marley & The Wailers if it wasn't for that man, it was driven by money is not in debate, but the chris successfully put Bob Marley where he is today, so that has to be respected none of you I would've got anywhere without Cris. Please respect that and that's the truth.
