Hello Nigerians,
I want to make this suggestion which I feel will solve the problems of refusing parties access to state facilities in states where they don’t have a governor, which has become a new-normal in Nigeria politics.
I want to suggest @PeterObi manifesto, considers building what could be called a non-partisan campaign ground for Nigeria, if he becomes the president, in all the 36 states and Abuja, named after Heroes of Democracy in each state. The campaign ground will be managed by INEC and self-funded with monies realised from office complex and monies from political parties who wishes to use the facility at a moderate fee.
This is important because denying parties access to campaign facility is an indirect election rigging, which keeps producing bad leaders. And when good people don’t have access to public campaign facilities to showcase their plans to Nigerians, corrupt people who have unhindered access to such facilities will keep coming back to power.
Good governance starts with strong institutions and you can see that in the USA where Trump attempted to subvert the US democracy but met a brick wall, even from his VP Mike Pence. So good governance starts from election infrastructure and strong institutions that produce the leaders.
I suggest this should form part of @PO manifesto under institutional reforms, which is the bedrock of good governance.
