A rapping flight attendant has become a CZcams sensation. He's turning the usual dry annoucements into the highligjht of the trip. Jocelyn Pierce caught up with him at LAX.
Its giving the crew this kind of freedom that makes southwest the best airline. Their crews are free to be themselves which leads to higher quality service.
David is an example of what all citizens of this world should be like. He has put his heart and soul into his everyday career. Thumbs up for you my man.
Unfortunately, Southwest will not get TV's due to the fact that they add useless weight to the aircraft (and in aviation, that's a bad thing) and they already offer free in-flight Movies, Live-Tv, and Music on Computer's and electronic devices. So why install TV's, when everyone has a electronic device and can watch it there and only install a sat-com antenna (the little bump on the aircraft)
He shocked everyone on my flight out of Minneapolis...many of which were used to getting the life sucked out of them by North-worst. He brought a lot of smiles and laughter to everyone landing in Denver. Thanks David & Southwest!
You know, it is obvious this guy really enjoys this job. He is really having fun. Hats off ot Mr. Holmes. I wonder when we might have the first rapping Captain.....One must really count their blessings to have found work they truly enjoy doing. It is like this is 'not really WORK work' for Mr. Holmes.

@Devext I hope that you realize that as long as he goes over a certain set of points, law and company policy does not specify how this is gotten across to the passengers. Psychologically, It is an absolutely perfect way to make sure that the passengers remember the instructions, because of the fact that it is slightly humorous, and it is combined with music, which is a global brain activity.
I think Southwest has done the right thing ! They are always havin fun with the passengers. If I would live in the US I would always fly with them. This guy is so cool, simply awesome !
I flew on southwest a few times, and once i had a rapping steward. wasn't this guy but definitely was just as good. I highly recommend sw airlines. cheap flights, good service, and they don't charge for bags.
This guy should be the main voice in Southwest safety video if they ever show one on those 737s! They might even kick Delta's butt in a safety video contest (Delta probably wouldn't have a chance even if they did use Deltalina and finger wag)!

No, not really. Please note, that when he is rapping this, that all the passengers are paying attention to the lyrics, as human instinct would do. By doing this, the passengers actually would hear more than a usual safety briefing
Rap started in the late 60's and early 70's with graffiti and break-dancing. The first rappers were poor black, white, and Hispanic poets in New York. The first raps were just stories and chants. A lot of rhymes were just simple ones that were used on breakbeat tracks for people to dance to. Just like the dancing and graffiti styles it spread and changed. There are so many types of raps. People listen to music that expresses them, so it's no surprise that gangsters like gangster rap.

My parents and my 2 older siblings (I'm the baby of the family) and myself moved to Germany (my dad was a civilian federal worket)a couple of months before my 8th birthday and every couple of years, we would come back and visit the relatives and I eventually got so used to hearing the emergency instructions that as much as I hate to admit this (and I really do) that I eventually started to tune out at this point, but I definitely wouldn't have turned out this guy! Very creative! :)
Having a rapping flight attendant is great because as soon as he stops rapping, you know for sure something's wrong, none of this "It's okay" bull crap. You'll get the honest truth about the turbulence.

@HotChilliSquirrel C'mon, That's not fair to the Gecko. Besides different ads pop up on different days. But I am in total agreement with you that all of the 30 second ads are getting really annoying. It's bad enough when a clip loads slowly but even worse when the preceding 30 second commercial makes it take even longer. I agree with you HotChiliSquirrel but be nice to the Gecko, and Cavemen if you ever see them again.
And then Southwest should challenge Delta to see which airline has a better safety video (Southwest would win even if Delta did use Kat and the finger wag)!
