Yep, it always was; that just wasn't particularly well conveyed in the original translation. It was what you were following around through the original game (which is why you fought it as many times as you did) just taking the visual form of Sephiroth.
They have been SLAYING with the Jenova remixes for FF7 R & R. Love the Soundtrack once again

Very unexpected, yet so fitting.
What I love about this theme, and really all the Rebirth/Remake songs, is that in the original game, we fell in love with the themes because we heard them over and over again in different battles and areas. Now, they’ve gone through and made several different versions of each theme to match a situation and battle in game and that’s to be applauded. So much love and care went into every aspect of these games and I simply can’t wait for Part 3!

This is extremely Farscape for me. Which is a fabulous thing.
This video and song has been my theme this year, since early March. From the original Final Fantasy VII game, this is one of my favorite boss battles and songs! In the video, so many of the moments are in sync with the cut scene and battle. I see the first battle with Jenova as a way of testing your strength and courage. Love FFVII (PS1) Tifa looks so badass when she does Avalanche Two Step!
