    TTD is THE BEST thing happening in music. I've seen them 3 times in concert and the goose bumps and emotion they elicit during their shows is one of the most joyful experiences I've had in music. His and Susan's connection to each other and the band and with the audience is truly electric. Thanks for featuring him here and calling this out for what it truly is.

    Some are under the impression that John is cocky, but as a musician, he absolutely knows how to be humble and respectful. Look at how much respect he has for someone like Derek and BB. It’s clear as day that he holds Derek in very very high regards.

    • @blastblast8301
      @blastblast8301 Před 3 měsíci +6

      After seeing John's solo tour and a few of the Dead & Company dates and seeing TTB a few times last year, I can certainly say that these two are the very best of their generation of guitarists.
      John's versatility and ability to play anything is completely unmatched. He can enthrall throngs of listeners while fronting a jam band older than he is or sell out multiple nights alone on a stage with a guitar.
      Derek's the best slide player I've ever heard. And it can't be easy co-fronting a 13 member touring band with your wife but he and Susan soldier on as the best damn touring band running right now.
      No one even comes close.

      @@lukes5631 yeah, I think it just goes to show how much people are capable of changing particularly as they age but also while maintaining that level of super stardom.
      That took some deep, personal, work to get to and I'm glad that he's both found it and has maintained continued success.
      I can't wait to see what the next steps for him are.

    • @maxverstappen2713

      What I like most about John Mayer is his consistency with being versatile. My favorite musician, and the guy who got me to start playing guitar, Warren Haynes, is as talented as they come. But while he can literally play and cover anything and has shown us for 35 years that he can, he doesn't adventure in his own guitar work in the way John does. It feels weird to say because I honestly can't find a piece that i don't think Warren can cover note for note flawlessly.@@blastblast8301

    Michael, I have been watching your channel for a few years now and I have loved every bit of it. I am 26 and I grew up in a Deadhead household. In my teenage years I got into some rap and hip hop stuff but still had a love for good lyrics and the dead. I also came back to a song by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis featuring Leon Bridges. It has a great groovy track and the words of the song are very powerful about the struggles of addiction and the pill crisis in America. I know you don’t probably listen to much of this music but I think it would be a fun song for someone like you to breakdown.
    As always I love the channel man

    It's impossible to rank guitar players, everyone has their personal favorite. I'm 68 and I have seen so many outstanding shows right here in NYC. I saw the original Canned Heat, Allman Brothers and BB King Blues Band in Central Park at the annual Schaefer Beer music festival! That was the 1970's. In the 1980's I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan at The Pier and again at Madison Square Garden. Stevie performed Voodoo Chile on stage at MSG, that was one of the highlights of my life. Then into the 90's there was Buddy Guy, Guitar Shorty, Chris Duarte, Doyle Bramhall, Johnny Winter, Robben Ford and Eric Johnson. This is just a partial list.
