One thing I really hate about Webtoons is the star rating system. Your readers can rate your comic, giving you a score from 1 to 10. If you have a small amount of followers, and one rude reader decides to rate you 0 stars, it can drop your whole comic's grade to like a 7. It happened to me when I stopped posting as frequently and my readers got impatient.
trueee i struggled with that in the beginning too but i think webtoon is going to keep that rating system forever haha

It's not a bad rating system, but too one-dimensional. If there were more ways to rate like in writing, art, etc, then you get a better rating system that can recommend to others accurately.
I read a post on the forums that talked about how a lot of the people reading on tapas are creators themselves. Whereas webtoons has a larger audience because it's mostly people looking for something to read.
that's true but i kind of think the people who are pissed at webtoon would go over to tapas anyway ahah
Do you care more about ratings rather than actually making comics? Cuz if u do u should stop art entirely if u only do it for clout
@@unseentable5217 what's wrong with wanting clout as an artist? Full time comic Artists needs clout bc how else will they earn money if no one reads it?
I really like both, maybe tapas abit more as navigating through it feels alittle less confusing? (Tbf I mainly use the apps)

As a reader, I really don't appreciate Tapas' paywall... And I know that this paywall was for the creators' sake but unfortunately, its existence just creates a valid market for pirated content...
I really do want to read on Tapas but the paywall stops me at every turn so now I just use the site to find new things to read somewhere else... I know that that sounds insensitive but that's just the reality I, and possibly some readers, find myself in...
i totally understand what you're saying, i myself wish tapas can make the paywall for premium content or early access only but it is what it is
Free comics aren't even being promoted anymore... I don't think I'll use tapas anymore unless they change, idk why that site gets away with this so easily, they don't care about smaller creators it's just so damn obvious.
@@nothing-jl2dz i totally understand the frustrations, but i personally continue to use it because at the end of the day it's the only comic platform that actively promotes readers to donate to creators who are not premium :)
I don’t do tapas cuz the ink stuff confuses me....but Ik that within the last year several novels have been adapted to Webtoons such as Rot and Ruin, Fever King, and Not Even Bones to name a few. I also think the Korean platform has novels but the international one doesn’t. Of course this is just my understanding. After watching this video I’ll check out both of your comics with this month!

As a previous comics creator on both apps I just uploaded half of the comic in webtoon and then the completed one in tapas. But it really depends on the author. There are also free amazing comics in tapas but it’s typically hard to find them T w T. ALSO HOLD UP! Webtoon bought wattpad?! 😱, I didn’t know this haha. And wait up…..you’re the creator of dear alice?! I love the comic 🤩🤩✨✨✨✨

i like reading good stories online, escpecially comics, and ive had webtoon for a while. the problem is, ive started to run out things to read; the stories i like are all either current series and the next chapter hasnt come out or theyre finished. tapas seemed okay but the paywall drew me away, so for now im back to webtoon. i wish there were more places to find good comics online but most of them arent free :/
i understand the paywall can be annoying but it is what it is, at the end of the day comic creators have to get paid too
or you can read the free comics in the community section in tapas and canvas in webtoon it's all free!
Honestly right now I’m obsessed with tapas because daniel's very personal villain 💀
I prefer tapas simly because its WAY easier to navigate and use - webtoon is just so unhandy 💀

For Tapas' mature section, they do not allow just regular 'ol users to submit there-- so unfortunately, saying, hey check out that part if you wanna make more mature comics is just not that accurate. (I have contacted them multiple times about trying to be in the mature section, that's how I know this.) One thing I like about Tapas is that the staff is way more clear with you if you're about to be shadowbanned b/c of Apple and Google. They will work with you to get your comic up to snuff so it doesn't get taken off the app. Webtoons, however, will shadowban your comic basically for any reason, which shadowbans ALL the comics on your account. It's just... awful. I have no idea why a creator would prefer Webtoons over Tapas on the back end-- I can see folks liking having as much reach as Webtoons has, but Tapas just has way way more features for creators. ✌ Thanks for sharing the video!

At 5:58 I was like TAPAS it is...Tapas seems a bit more flexible with 18+ stuff. Though I'm going for that for gore/some violence, not romance stuff.

Sinceramente disfruto más la lectura en tapas, tiene más filtros y si deseo leer algún contenido pago, sólo tengo que ver anuncios y ganar inks para comprar los capítulos. Me resulta una apk fácil y accesible.

I despise ink. I don’t have the time or interest to sit there for hours trying to grind 10 ink per 1 minute ad, when it’s 250+ ink per new page, just to keep reading a series i’m not even sure i like yet, since only the first few chapters are free. I also will never give out my personal information unless it’s for a site i plan on using consistently, like youtube or amazon. Not to mention you have to give a credit card no. to some companies to get a “free trail” of something for ink. Lol, the XM radio special they have right now... i feel bad for any sucker who gives them their information. That company is notoriously bad at canceling and it could takes months, and banks often won’t help you with it since XM seems to be in bed with them...

not just that. there are better comics on Tapas that are NOT the premium series. the issue is that Tapas makes you jump through hoops in the menus to reach these free to read comics. as a free to read creator. i hate tapas too. but for that reason
Just after one year Tapas got a little more strict with mature content due to being brought by Kakaopage (can't stand them lol) and because of that many creators and readers are leaving, I don't know much but they definitely change compared to when this video was posted.
I'd like to upload on both platforms , but there will be 2 diffierent editions since they require different size and type of file to upload.

i know this is 2 months later but there is whittle app and Croppy whick automatically changes to the specific sizes needed. not sure if Croppy is around anymore tho.

I would say webtoon is better because tapas when you read a like 3 eps or 4 it cuts and I have to buy coins and unlock the episodes it’s sucks
yeah everyone dislikes the payment system but i guess this is how their creators earn money
