    The lights you're looking for are called "COBB leds". Those will give you the best unified underlighting without the telegraphing of individual lights. MUCH cleaner look.

    Hi Ryan, I’ve watched loads of your videos and always give a thumbs up, just wondering if you could do future video on paint touch up after you’ve installed. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. Cheers

      Yes sure, I'm sure I can do this.
      We are fitting a job next week so hopefully get some footage then for a vid 👍

    Hey Ryan....love this video....just what I'm looking for. However could I request a short follow up video on exactly you would wire up 3 shelves.....does each shelf/strip connect directly to the splitter or does top shelf connect to middle shelf, middle shelf connect to lower shelf and then lower shelf to the splitter???
    Also...if you were doing 2 alcoves....do you somehow channel cable across to the other to connect to one transformer/splitter or do you use a 2nd full setup for the other alcove??? It would be great if you can add to this.....hope that makes sense.

      Hi thank you...
      All the lights just plug into the splitter.
      So if you have 3 lights in your unit for example, they would all come through the side of the unit and plug into the 3 outputs in the splitter. You can have up to 6 lights in one set (I made a set in my video), so a plug, driver, controller, up to 2 splitters and then up to 6 lights.
      You could get longer extension cables if, for example you wanted to have 3 lights on left hand unit and 3 lights on right hand unit of a chimney breast.
      This way you'd only need one driver, controller and remote.
      I just make life easier by having 2 sets, 1 either side of the chimney breast.
      I may get a chance to make a follow up video soon 👍
      I hope this all helps
      Ryan

    Great video, just wondering for wardrobe lighting, how do you fit a sensor for the lighting to turn on (when the door opens) instead of a remote with the system you use, thanks.

    They look brilliant man… so if you have two alcoves do you use two sets of the lighting you showed one per alcove? Ie transformer , driver etc? And do you have any issues fixing your 36 mm shelves to the sides as they are laminated.. meaning do your fixing s meet the join?

    • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
      @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop  Před 3 měsíci

      Thank you!
      Yes one set per alcove, I don't share the driver.
      We generally try and get at least one buscuit slot and 2 x screw fixings into the upper laminated layer.
      The bottom layer is divided by the led light so we don't try and get screws into that layer.
      All works well for us, and the biscuit slot gives strength and locates shelf in right position 👍

      @dazlarg no probs.
      I bought everything in bulk so I couldn't really say.

    Hi, I appreciate you are not an electrician, but there are two ESSENTIAL safety points you have missed. Firstly, the fuse in the plug should be changed to a 3 amp one. Secondly, where the wire from the plug goes into the driver, you must take the outer white sheath of the cable into the driver and clamp it with the cover. The inner brown and blue cores must never be exposed, and the sheath must be secured to prevent the connections being pulled out (all this is for mains cables - it is not required for the low voltage side). Hope you don't mind me calling those points out - if you do it for your customers as in the video, you could be legally liable if something went wrong.

      Where's the earth from the plug to the driver?

    • @paulasser1589
      @paulasser1589 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@Samxronnthe driver will be class 2 and won’t need an CPC (earth), but the earth cable shouldn’t be cut out. He would have been better using just a 2 core lex

    What do you tell your customers about service life? do you get questions on the subject? I wonder, because I use LED's on my own time and dime, but I have never sold a project with them, and I just don't really know how to predict if the components I use will give issues or not.
    Had to deal with any callbacks on your electrical work?
