J.D.Crowe is possibly the best banjo player alive today, and that Mastertone he's playing there is THE sweetest sounding banjo I've ever heard. It almost brings tears to my eyes.
Thanks a ton for posting this. JD really makes this ol' chune JUMP, and it's great to have both his hands in full view, and the banjo sound up front (even if the area away from his mic is kind of muted)--at least for all of us who've wanted to learn to play this the way he does!
J.D., you are still the king of the modern day banjo and if you don't mind being next to Earl :-), and I know you don't. You are simply the real deal buddy...Jack Baker NYC
So sorry to read J. D. passed away. A solid banjo player and one of my favorites. In an interview conducted by Jim Mills, J. D. said he was interested in playing the electric guitar until he saw Flatt and Scruggs live and went wild over Earl playing a five string and that was it. I had a feeling J. D. was inspired by Earl as his style reminds me of Earl. Listen a see. czcams.com/video/R0CtY4wSZsY/video.html

You can tell how much JD’s enjoying it! The man is king!

I love the music especially JD Crowe's playing of Sally Gooden. I am learning how to play it now.
Myra
great!
I love the way JD uses syncopated walk downs in his backup.
I hope you post more of these. Thanks.
Mighty fine, mighty fine!
I pray that someday I'll be able to do something remotely similar on my Epiphone MB-200 I just got.. 8-)
nice!
@jdcrowe75 I hear JD just fine. Every note is clear as a bell.Good audio on my speakers.
Travis in KY
I think his microphone was turned down a bit making him a little quiet!
Here's wishing JD a speedy recovery from his broken arm .
I've not tried this tune yet. To be honest I dont think Ive been playing long enough to even attempt it yet. JD makes it look easy as always.
An who could possibly give a thumbs down? Wait, I know. Either they don't know good pickin' when the hear it, or they're jealous.

Get well soon JD. He broke his left arm yesterday in two places on his way to the Joe Val festival.
Good ol flat footin song.
That's the same shirt he's wearing on his Wikipedia page........Now I gotta get me one so I can pick a little more like JD!!
@BreathDoctor if you look at ludwig's other vids you'll see some songs with singing from this same show.
@BreathDoctor because they can.

@BreathDoctor You figure that was the only song of the show ?
@BreathDoctor Still very difficult to hear everyone on a noisy stage with thousands of people in the crowd. They sing on other numbers.
Jd’s mic sounded like it was turned way down for an accidental reason! Because everybody else! Especially the fiddle was LoUd!
@2:15 !!!!!!
WHAT KINDA BANJO?
Good video but lousy audio if you're trying to feature J.D. Can't hear him.
What I cant figure out is why they're wearing in -ear monitors. Nobody sings......
Lucky they let a two bit banjo on the stage with any axe man. LOL If this fiddler gets any further up his bow he'll be playing behind his back.
What's the difference between a banjo and a trampoline? You take your shoes off to jump on a trampoline. Ha Ha
Sorry, Can't beat Earl Scruggs.
You are passing judgment on shades of excellence, sir. I see that you play. Better than JD's band, i take it.
Don Reno beats them all
