Also Deku at one point pretty much idolized Bakugo, which generally isn’t good for a relationship.

Bakugou is a brutal abuser who hates his victim and himself, and takes out that combined anger on Izuku. Izuku internalizes and rationalizes Bakugou's heinous actions because he can barely remember a time when he wasn't insulted, burned, and beaten on a regular basis. This is normal for him, it's his whole life. He doesn't even have the strength to disagree anymore. I actually like this better than canon, since Izuku has some spite left here. Izuku hates himself, but he still has enough sense to recognize that what Bakugou has done is worthy of hate, and that Bakugou should go down with him at the bare minimum. I'll never understand people who actually romanticize Bakugou's violence against Izuku. Abuse is not cute, fun, or a way that people show affection.

For me it really feels like even after all Bakugou did to Midoriya they've very recently in the manga started to grow even closer together and remembering that bakugou was the first person midoriya told about all might and his power. I see it as like Bakugou redemming himself and finally admitting to all the horrible things he did to Midoriya and Midoriya I guess hoping to be friends again and then it slowly turns to romance. Maybe it's cause they have more chemistry and interesting plots and arcs in their relationship that makes me ship them I guess. I mean I can understand why people wouldn't ship it. I guess the thing for Tododeku is the same where I just feel like there's almost no chemistry or interesting arcs and complicated relationships between them, they feel like normal friends and not even best friends. Though Bakugou is getting better he still has a lot of things to work out and that’s why at least through high school him and Izuku would not be a good match. the fact bakugou tries to push him away by telling him to stay out of his way and then cries and reveals he is drowning and he hopes deku dies and how deku responds really symbolizes their relationship. no matter how much bakugou pushes deku away, he cant deny that they are going through the same struggles and nobody understands him more than izuku.
made an au based on this. its. its a lot. here lol suicide, addiction, alcohol, and self harm tw // one of dekus traits is that he cares more about others than himself, and as a hero he puts himself at risk and harms himself with his quirk in order to save others. so when he becomes a pro hero he still carries the mentality because it comes with the job and he never worked to try and unlearn it or anything. but eventually he's hurting himself so much that it outweighs how much he's helping people, and he feels like a failure because even though he's doing so much damage to himself he doesn't feel like he's doing enough or doing a good enough job. so he starts throwing himself into more dangerous and dangerous situations with less and less planning/backup, and even though he still wants to help people it becomes more about hoping he'll die from the harm it causes him than actually doing it for others. he's pushed all of his loved ones away under the premise of being very dedicated to his work, but really he's just trying to indirectly kill himself under the guise of being a hero. he wants to die a hero so he'll be remembered well and think his life/work was at least worth something. in contrast , once bakugo grows out of his egotistic demeanor he starts having doubts about if him being a pro hero will actually be beneficial to anyone. his quirk is destructive and even if he tries to find more and more different ways to use it, he's still causing a lot of damage. just because he saves someone's life doesn't mean they'll keep on living. his quirk causes a lot of collateral damage and often people's homes and belongings are destroyed during a fight, and those people usually don't have the resources to rebuild their lives from the ground up. he sinks more and more into this idea that he's doing more harm than good. he works less and less until he gets to a point where he never leaves his house, he's also cut off the people in his life and he's struggling with addiction because he doesn't know how else to stop himself from thinking about the harm he's caused. he keeps going to far in hopes that he’ll die of an overdose or something without actually killing himself. that's not how he wants to be remembered. somehow they reconnect. bakugo drunkenly calls deku or deku crashes at bakugos place because he's injured and can't drag himself any further to a hospital. since they both cut their friends off they had no idea how the other was doing and just assumed they were happy and healthy and furthering their career (neither of them can bear to watch the news anymore). when they find out what's actually happened to each other they stew in the tensest silence of their lives before they’re both laughing hysterically, the idea of just how much worse they’ve gotten since high school is too much to try and take seriously. deku, ever optimistic and willing, caring so little about others that he uses his job as a hero to hurt himself. bakugo, ready to challenge anyone who thought they could be better, wallowing in misery thinking of people he's hurt and drinking himself to death. they hate themselves, they hate each other, they know they won't get better.

I love this. This really shows how toxic they would be together. Though Bakugou is getting better he still has a lot of things to work out and that’s why at least through high school him and Izuku would not be a good match. Izuku being in a relationship with him would be tiring and most likely take a tole on both of there mental health.
the fact bakugou tries to push him away by telling him to stay out of his way and then cries and reveals he is drowning and he hopes deku dies and how deku responds really symbolizes their relationship. no matter how much bakugou pushes deku away, he cant deny that they are going through the same struggles and nobody understands him more than izuku.

one of dekus traits is that he cares more about others than himself, and as a hero he puts himself at risk and harms himself with his quirk in order to save others. so when he becomes a pro hero he still carries the mentality because it comes with the job and he never worked to try and unlearn it or anything. but eventually he's hurting himself so much that it outweighs how much he's helping people, and he feels like a failure because even though he's doing so much damage to himself he doesn't feel like he's doing enough or doing a good enough job. so he starts throwing himself into more dangerous and dangerous situations with less and less planning/backup, and even though he still wants to help people it becomes more about hoping he'll die from the harm it causes him than actually doing it for others. he's pushed all of his loved ones away under the premise of being very dedicated to his work, but really he's just trying to indirectly kill himself under the guise of being a hero. he wants to die a hero so he'll be remembered well and think his life/work was at least worth something.
in contrast , once bakugo grows out of his egotistic demeanor he starts having doubts about if him being a pro hero will actually be beneficial to anyone. his quirk is destructive and even if he tries to find more and more different ways to use it, he's still causing a lot of damage. just because he saves someone's life doesn't mean they'll keep on living. his quirk causes a lot of collateral damage and often people's homes and belongings are destroyed during a fight, and those people usually don't have the resources to rebuild their lives from the ground up. he sinks more and more into this idea that he's doing more harm than good. he works less and less until he gets to a point where he never leaves his house, he's also cut off the people in his life and he's struggling with addiction because he doesn't know how else to stop himself from thinking about the harm he's caused. he keeps going to far in hopes that he’ll die of an overdose or something without actually killing himself. that's not how he wants to be remembered.
somehow they reconnect. bakugo drunkenly calls deku or deku crashes at bakugos place because he's injured and can't drag himself any further to a hospital. since they both cut their friends off they had no idea how the other was doing and just assumed they were happy and healthy and furthering their career (neither of them can bear to watch the news anymore). when they find out what's actually happened to each other they stew in the tensest silence of their lives before they’re both laughing hysterically, the idea of just how much worse they’ve gotten since high school is too much to try and take seriously. deku, ever optimistic and willing, caring so little about others that he uses his job as a hero to hurt himself. bakugo, ready to challenge anyone who thought they could be better, wallowing in misery thinking of people he's hurt and drinking himself to death. they hate themselves, they hate each other, they know they won't get better.

I don’t think it’s fair to assume the worst for BakuDeku right off the bat like that. It’s fine if you don’t like it, but it IS possible, in fact now canon in the manga, that they are repairing what was extremely bad about them. It’ll take time, but it’s not going to stay horrible
