    We're in Sweden and spring is finally here and chance of frost is over, hope the same is going on in Iceland (Island). Just saw a video of a group planting a million trees where trees once lived to give a forest a chance to come back in that part of your country. Glad you're showing how much amazing nature there is.

    • @AllThingsIceland
      @AllThingsIceland  Před rokem +2

      Yes! The frost is definitely melting. Glad the same is happening in Sweden. Thank you!

    • @ThorirPP
      @ThorirPP Před rokem +1

      Unfortunately, chances of frost is never over. Every plant and bug living on this island has to be hardy enough to survive the spring "umhleypingar", where you might get a week or more of warm spring days, and flowers are starting to spring from the ground, and then BAM, frost again. With no regularity or predictability.
      While this is the bane of most plants and trees that are not hardy enough (though luckily we have enough hardy breeds of trees for the reforestation), on the bright side it is also the reason we don't have mosquitos even when much colder countries such as Greenland do. When the frost leaves and the mosquito eggs hatch from hibernation, a surprise return of frost kills them before they lay new eggs. So Iceland remains mosquito free!

    You go gurl! We must all challenge ourselves be it mind, body or both! I felt the cold 🥶. I do something similar, but in the shower. I am nowhere near your stage. You are correct in that it helps your breathing and especially in cold weather. Take care of yourself Jewells. The world is under a lot of pressure.

    Great job! I know you said it was different from still pools, but I was wondering if it was colder than the cold tub at Sky Lagoon?

  • @arlenemaxwellcopeland1644

    OK, the breathing looks a little like yoga, but I had trouble getting into Bahamian water last week. I thought you were going to just jump in. It takes a good 5 minutes for me to get into water up to my waist if it's not warm. hm, You have succeeded in your challenge.

    • @AllThingsIceland
      @AllThingsIceland  Před rokem +2

      There are for sure similarities to yoga. However, there were aspects of it that have been more intense than anything I ever experienced in the yoga classes I have to.
      What I love about getting into and out of the water is to calmly do it. Using your breath to control your heart makes the process so effective. ❤

    What I took from this adventure is your commitment to "be ok, no matter what". There are many modalities to arrive at that place, prayer, mindful meditation, yoga, chanting, etc. What I am most proud of you for is choosing to face the pain, walk through the pain and learn to adapt to the pain, aka: anything life throws at you. This breathing/cold water immersion method requires guts, perseverance and facing your demons. You didn't run from them, cover them up or medicate them .... you faced them squarely on! You did it, Jewells, and you are stronger, healthier and more resilient as a result!
