When this young man gets to be an adult, they won't let him compete any longer as he will take home all the medals, ribbons, and trophies as Mark O'Conner did at 17 or later. Wyatt Ellis is just as good as it gets. Mr Chris Thile was just as good a musician at his age. Look where Chris is now.
He’s climbing strong!!
Gonna watch it twice. Chris Henry, cant be said enough, is such a huge steward of Monroe's style. Thanks fellas.
So welcome buddy! Glad you connected!! See you mañana! :D
Thanks regardless and God Bless Mr Henry, I’ve never had it opened up to me like this , but you said something very enlightening among many things you’ve said “ don’t think like a singer speak mandolinese …”
Thanks for the kindness, Jim! Very glad that connected with you. 😀🎶
thanks for the gift, Wyatt. thank you Chris Henry.
Very welcome Mark! Glad you connected!
Boy! I dig this format. Helps to identify the Swiss cheese holes in my learning progress.
Thank you Chris! Great workshop.
So welcome, Andy!!
I have also learned a bunch of tunes from the vault of tunes from the recordings of Norman and Nancy Blake. These folks are still with us, but we have no idea for how much longer. It's worth listening to as much of their material as possible. They have played stuff that could be called obscure or buried under the mountains of time. Worth digging up and playing for posterity and future generations to learn and enjoy.
Love their music!!
@@ChrisHenryVideos yeah, brother! Not officially classified as "blue grass" but an ancestor to Bill's music. I really dig that old time sound. That's what Bill called "ancient tones"...all great stuff.
Lot of wisdom in what they do - so much righteous melody!
Wyatt has talent beyond his years. I've followed his progress over the past year and he gets better and better.
You are right, Mitzi! :)
💙
. . . and with a little more experience he may come to realize it might not be a good idea to change strings before a podcast... unless he doesn't care if he's out of tune :)
Omg, thank you for telling us about Strum Machine! What a great tool! Love, J
So welcome!! Big game changer!!
I really enjoyed your playing with Peter Rowen at MerleFest. One of your band mates Julian mentioned to me that you had a CZcams channel. I just checked out a couple and really appreciate your thoughtfulness, teaching & playing. Thanks for doing it all.
I appreciate the kind comments, Dennis, thank you very much! And you are very welcome!! 😀🎶
great stuff! Wyatt's the man!!
Thanks Mickey! And yeah!
Terrific video! Thanks to both Wyatt and Chris. Lots of great and useful material.
So welcome, Richard! Thanks for the kindness! 😀🎶🙏
I recently discovered a tasty version of the Popeye tune-- Sailor's Hornpipe. I have heard it since I was a kid, but never tried to figure it out on mandolin, then I heard one guy do it his way, and it all made sense.
Excellent tune!
Excellent tune!
Thanks for the slidey lick dude. Ive been playing a version of it for years but this is better more complete. I picked up the Mandolin again eight months ago after several years. Im coming right along. Upgraded to a collings mf. Ive been gigging with Johnny Campbell when he comes out here to montana. He turned me on to you. I appreciate your videos man! Thanks to Wyatt also. Jeff Trask
Very glad to hear that, Jeff! Cheers! And thanks for the kindness! Keep on! 😀🙏🎶
Thanks for the gift Wyatt and Chris! Rock on good people! GD⚡️AE
Amazing work, thank you Chris!
So welcome Jessie! Thanks for checking it out and the kindness!
So on blue ridge Chris you are doing shuffle count on man melody 1and a. But on slide lick, going to 16ths 1 e and a
If I’m understanding correctly, yes!
Also how would shuffle lick, on metronome, I’m kinda getting the hang of it without it though,
I would encourage you to have one shuffle lick (1 and a, one eighth note and two sixteenths - one long note and two short notes, down, down, up) for every click on the metronome
I want to ask you a question sir can you please teach on ear training I really need to hear my chords and identify each sound thank you so much ❤
I feel Helping folks one-on-one with ear training is one of my specialties - we could set up a zoom or Skype if you’d like! Please send me an email at Christopher@noyamountainmusic.com if you’d like to do that. 😀🎶
