    Outstanding! I’ve been a 65L 3.1 brewer for 2.5 years and every single one of these-every one-addresses the issues with the prior generation. Kudos to KegLand for listening to customers, spending obviously a LOT of time researching and I’m sure testing. I’m buying!!!

    Very Excited! I have 2 Anvil Foundries I use in my videos but seriously considering purchasing a new Brewzilla Gen 4 for future brews once it is released here in the U.S. Thanks again for covering this! Kee, you nailed the low-density vs high-density issue which I've been preaching to people for way too long. Low-density is the #1 way to go, especially if you brew with wheat and rye as I do. I'm dying to do a head-to-head comparison with the new Brewzilla Gen 4 vs the Anvil Foundry as I feel the Brewzilla will have an amazing BHE overall well beyond all the cool features. Great Video!

    Time for a gin basket Kee. Vapour infusion beats the crap out of boiling botanicals. I stuff my botanicals into kegland extension tubes above the lid and before the kegland pot still. It'd be handy to have a tri clover basket instead.

Between the lid and first extension tube I have a 2 inch filter to stop botanicals falling into the boil. There's not enough room even with all these tubes for all my botanicals for an 8.5L 20% double distilled starting spirit (i only have a pot still, so I have to clean up the starting wash a couple of times to get the fermentation stink and taste out, and it also gives 2 opportunities to get the nasty first runnings stuff out - this means on the final gin distillation, I can collect from the start and collect the really volatile aromatics). Yes we have had a lot of other customers in a similar situation and have upgraded from the older Grainfather units. The older Grainfather units were good but they did have high watt density so you will probably find on this system you will be able to brew lighter beers more easily.

    With my three tier system with 16 gallon pots I can make 10 gallons of high gravity beer.
    Using two different yeasts I can get two 5 gallon beers at one beers time.
    Don’t get me wrong, there is a place for your product, but a serious brewer needs bigger vessels.

  • @PetraKann
    @PetraKann Před 2 lety +1

    If you use the Brewzilla CIP set up to clean another adjacent vessel such as a fermenter, you cant do it continuously.
    You would need to stop and transfer the CIP fluid back into the Brewzilla vessel.
    Unless you have a way of auto transfering from the fermenter back to the Brewzilla (and if you use a pump then you may as well use that pump as a recirculation CIP pump.)

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  Před 2 lety

      You only need a small amount of height on the fermenter to gravity feed from the fermenter back to the brewery. So from our experience no additional pump should be necessary. As long as the fermenter is about 10cm higher than the liquid level inside the brewery.

      Thanks for your support Brent. We really appreciate it. The heating elements are not easy to replace but we have sold more than 40,000 BrewZilla Gen 3 units and i thikn we had only 2 elements fail that I know about so the chance of this happening is slim to none. I also tested boiling dry on these and under this very agressive boil dry testing I had to leave the BrewZilla on for about 45hrs completly boiled try before the element burned out. In order to perform this test I had to remove the thermal overload and electronics to force the elements to stay on permanently for the 45hr period. It's just not going to happen.

When not in use it seems the only option is to pull the plug from the wall. I guess there is an argument for the controller to be always on/powered when it can act as a Bluetooth hub for other devices but in that case it would be nice to be able to put the controller into a standby mode where it can still be connected to Bluetooth/WIFI but no risk of accidentally activating the heating elements when empty

I know the immersion chiller is not very efficient at achieving very low temperatures like the counter flow but it's very easy for our customers to use and setup. Also once you get the word down to 40C you can just put in the fermenter and then let it cool down a bit further in the fermenter. We have a signficiant number of customers in Australia that hot cube as well. So I think for this stage we will just sell the counter flow as an add on extra if people want to purchase this separately.

Whilst selling whirlpool attachments, which are completely useless except when you siphon the wort without the built in drain.
    I am in the market for a malt pipe system at the moment but I really do not want hot trub in my fermenter.
    Ignoring this quite hefty design flaw, I absolutely love what you did with the Gen4, especially on the controller side of things and am wondering, if I can come up with a pipe attachment which pulls the wort from the side and leaves most of the hot trub behind during transfer.

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  Před 2 lety

      We did consider this very seriously and we do sell a sight glass upgrade kit however sight glasses have two problems:
      1. They are a real pain to clean and after using them for some time you really then need to get inside with a special brush to clean out the sight glass.
      2. Most sight glasses are either made from glass which can smash and is not particularly robust or alternatively is made from polycarbonate and then we can't state that the product is BPA or bisphenol free. It looks better than v3 for reasons mentioned, but what about the ability to whirlpool to leave behind as much hot and cold-break as possible. I prefer to remove most of that before it gets to the fermenter. It seems like you can't do that with the Gen4. Am I correct?

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  Před 2 lety

      We do have a design whereby you can fit an extension and draw liquid from the side of the brewery and not use the false bottom screen. This additional accessory would allow you to whirlpool and separate this stuff but I am still not convinced this is necessary. It would be easier to let the hot break settle in the middle then open the valve on the side and separate this at the start rater than at the end if you really felt it necessary to do so.

      With the 65L you can comfortably get away with batches down to 10L however at these very small batches you will start to notice your efficiencies decrease a little as it's starts to become a thin layer of malt in the malt pipe and water flows through quite fast. For small batches you could probably combat this by using a batch sparging method but we have not doen extensive testing eith the 65L and very small batches below 10L at this stage.

      As our pump protection screen covers the whole bottom of the boiler it's just not likely you will block this. Yes we have now a percentage power adjustment that allows you to adjust the power from 0-100%. We also have put a PID feature o this unit too.

      I suppose we can probably make this public. We have not really considered this as you would need to be fairly proficient at wiring but I guess we have nothing to loose from supplying you just the controller if you would be happy to wire up the elements and pump yourself.

    • @KegLand

      We will start sending these to NZ very soon. It's probably best to check with the local distributors as they can tell you the arrival date better than we can as they organise the shipping.

    Have you upgraded the temperature controller(s) to PID to reduce wide fluctuations of temperature? That was a major concern for me and several friends with the previous generation Brewzilla.

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  Před 2 lety

      Yes this has been done. We have a PID function in this brewery model. We have also made the PID settings editable as well so really we recommend changing the Integral and Derivative values depending on the batch size you are doing.

      @@KegLand That's great news! That makes it better than the Grainfather G30. They also use a PID controller, but the probe is located in the bottom near the heater and they do not have the second sensor that can be placed in the mash. So the heat is controlled by the PID as sensed by both probes? Also, why isn't the fact that it is PID advertised? It's a MAJOR improvement and could generate more sales if known!

    • @KegLand

      The BrewZilla 100L is too larger for 15amp power lead. You need 32amp single phase or 10amp three phase.

    Thank you for making this video! :) Is there anyway that I can buy this gen 4 35L from S.Korea? If not then do you have a plan to export this to Korea. If so, please let me know how I follow. I know that you have a representative East Asian Seller in China, but please do not say that I have to buy it from China. If there is no way to buy in S.Korea,, then is it possible to change adaptor to 220voltage version? Then I will find a way to have this in my home on my own. Hope I can buy it asap.

      Hello Cian. All the electronics have been re-designed and we have done a lot of durability testing on the electronics to ensure they are work at 100% duty cycle in very hot ambient temperatures for days at a time.
