She is a PUBLIC defender who was ASSIGNED this case. She cannot recuse herself unless she has ties. She is doing her JOB and has cried multiple times during this. Defense attorneys are vital because they ensure fair trials and that monsters like this don’t get out on a technicality. She would be disbarred if she didn’t do her job to the best of her ability. If a trial does not utilise very rigid due process, including a robust, motivated defence, then it can never hope to provide victim Survivors with any reliable measure of the vital therapeutic healing that is a primary need after what is a deeply retraumatising reliving of such profoundly impactful events. People throwing hatred at public defenders and defence counsels in general for performing their very difficult but vitally important duty is only an additional example of how so very often the voices of those who matter are drowned out by the baying mobs of self-righteousness seeking to ruthlessly and selfishly exploit such a situation to score themselves some cheap social credibility points. Everyone is quick to point the finger at him for taking the responsibility, not recognizing the social influences and the structures that also contributed to this event. If I was a babysitter of your children, and I gave them antidote that gave them a huge incentive, like irresistible incentive, to "grape" every girl they see, would you blame your children, me, or both? If a person walks into a jungle, and a lion spots the person, and kills the person, are we going to hold the lion accountable? Are we going to hold the zookeper accountable? Are we going to keep the person who got killed responsible? Or is the answer a lot more complex then, "it isn't' my fault, it is their fault"?

I had a stalker in hs that very much reminds me of this guy. He would say I would die if I didn't take his gifts, wait after school hours for me, chase me to the bus, take photos of me unknowingly. I remember him asking me out repeatedly on valentines day. one of the times I said no, he repeatedly punched the table next to me infront of classmates. One time I asked councilors for help when he kept taking photos of me, they did nothing and asked that I speak with him because they felt bad for him, which I declined. As soon as I left the office he literally chased me to my bus, a and the bus driver had to keep him off. I wish mental health would be taken more seriously. Years after school, he was still getting my new numbers through other people and harassing me, police pretty much told me that until he 'does something to me' they would not do anything.
That's horrible. You deserved better from the people you reached out to for help. I'm so sorry.

I know it isn’t her fault at all, but I can’t imagine how Angie and JT felt after learning what happened and knowing he had texted them shortly right before, especially with Angie’s case with rejecting him. I’m sure it made her blame herself some, but it isn’t her fault.

There was a similar situation with the NASHVILLE school shooting earlier this year.

It’s not the girl that caused him to do this, but Mass murderers are not simply born as mass murderers. No one knows what he went through and how society treated him and what caused him to become this violent. If I even recall, he didn’t have proper parenting as his parents weren’t around since he was a kid. With that being said - it’s not any of the victims’ fault either and he has to be held responsible for his actions. Sadly.. There is no other way around it. I’m an older, wiser married woman now, but your story reminds me of mine as a younger woman. I’ve an uncanny ability to never forget faces, also I’m an ex Ford model. Unfortunately, I worked for VS, so I was accustomed to posting pics, being photographed esp with my friends, but stupidly I use to post pics of myself on FB, I’m not on FB or Twitter but back then I would naive post whereas I ate my lunch after classes. I’m a prof now, but one time, I was sitting in my fav restaurant on my lunch break, a man came in and I immediately recognized him as one of my fb friends, just an add of another fb friend. What happened next is repulsive, this man is still on fb, but he walked up to where I was sitting and took out his dick from his shorts and I moved so fast, knocked over the table, I’m a 100 lbs, and I was so afraid I somehow got the strength and knocked that table over so fast the nasty creep fell backwards, dick still out, thankfully other men restrained him till the cops came. That was 2013, and I never forgot it.

I grew up in a rough neighborhood. I went through it all. Drugs alcohol bullying explicit scenery all at a young age. I had access to a gun at the age of 14. I committed crimes served time in juvenile correctional facilities from 14 to 17. Been in and out of jail since 18 to now 26 I'm a current felon on the run because i stopped reporting. To this day I battle with mental health anxiety and depression some days are really dark. But this guy is something much more disturbed than that. I would never hurt people like that let alone kids. That being said. I had a chance to take my father's gun and go kill every kid I hated at middle school. Instead I took the gun went with a couple of friends to sell it and buy some weed and beer to get wasted. That's all that mattered at the time. I never in my head thought of going to murder any kid even if I hated them and believe me I hated many kids . Im on the road to recovery of drugs and alcohol because they are the worst thing you can consume while battling demons. I hope my story will help someone out there. Be strong.
